They have made out like absolute bandits.
I’d go as far to call it the best draft/trade period anyone has had.
They were shit last season, got max value for all the trades & have comprehensively come out on top of every deal they have done.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d like to see the whole club die of from nasty, incurable venereal diseases given to them by a pack of rabid gorillas, but they have done well.
Yeah. They lucked out a bit too. Players that left all went to the ideal clubs. Great draft this year. Even the structure of the draft was ideal for them. Couldnt have gone better.

At least we can enjoy seeing them get monstered nexr year. They will be horrendous.

Did I see last night that Saints traded out 32 to move up to 28? I swear I saw that somewhere. Maybe they did and it's been ironically pushed back out to 32. At the time, I thought "they wouldn't do that just to bid earlier - they want someone".

As they're probably our biggest threat for a bid on Ben before 38 (now 40)... I was very excited when I saw it come through.

Apologies if already discussed.
no you are correct

traded and received 28, which is now back out to 32.

They did. Im still nervous about a bid. Mids are their greatest need, theyve picked none and ben is the best one left on the board.

I think the Aints will bid, they needed mids and haven’t chosen any yet…Aints board is losing it.

Only reason they may not is another mid ahead on their list is still available

They used collateral to trade up from 32 last night. It would be a terrible look if they then did bid even if we were to match. Would paint SOS as a spiteful and petty man against an old premiership team mate.

I’d be spewing… North paid up for Whitlock…

Out: F(Top 5) pick
In: Whitlock (27) and F19

Probably should have demanded Pick 28, instead of F19
I guess every team has paid up for their players considering they also had access to Norths future first. Every team that took a player before Whitlock gave up what North has in a way.

Logically, if the word is few else are going to bid and we're taking him anyway... why would you give us draft capital to just bid earlier... to make us pay more?

SOS isn't that stupid.

It is outrageous that they have been able to do it in such a deep draft. First round pick for a 27yr old B grader in Baker. Won't ever play a final for WC.

North paid an early 2nd rounder for 28yr old Daniel who was in and out of the Dog side was just as crazy. Will be exposed defensively in a bottom 4 team. Just insanity.

Not the year be trading for bit players

I dont think the trade makes much difference tbh. SOS has nothing to gain by bidding except to keep us honest whether its at 28 (now 32) or 32 (now 36). He'll still get his pick after in either case.

The only difference with the earlier pick is there will be a few more players left on the board. So greater possibility there is a guy he really rates and just locks in. But its also only 4 picks so player availability wont be vastly different. If they moved forward 10 picks Id be more confident.

Im hoping Gross or Moraes are still there at their pick. Highly rated midfielder types.

Surely its a KPP for us tonight + the Campos. Any inside word out there?

Would love Shanahan but he'll go next two for sure.

O'Farrell is the best fit from what I've seen of the KPDs but I saw someone say something about concussions issues?

Someone is going to trade up for Jobe Shanahan or maybe J Whitlock surely.

Who though?

Brisbane? Essendon? Port?

Essendon Future first + 37 for Richmond Future 3rd and 28?

I think the Tigers will want 1 more pick in the draft

Who’s ready to have their night ruined by SOS?

Re: Pick 40

Everyone talking about getting a KPP (including me). We have

O'Keefe (Ruck/Fwd)
Lemmey (KPD or Fwd)
Weitering (KPD)
Young (KPD)
Haynes (Third Tall defender)

Charlie (KPF)
McKay (KPF)
Silvagni (Tall forward or back)
Kemp can play tall
Monahan is actually 194cm

then we are seriously considering Durdin McMahon and/or DGB.

Issue is I am not sure how we rate Young & Lemmey. I think there are serious doubts on both. Players we are trialling as SSPs aren't guarantees either

Looking at all this and our list I hope we get a genuine tall at 40 and also One as a rookie and still add one as an SSP. I think we need options and depth in this area for now and the future

If a bid comes in at 32, I would do a deal with the Lions

Trade pick 40 for 49 and 56, 49 and our 55 covers the bid

After we obtain Ben, go back to the Lions

Trade 63, 64, 67 ( which come in a little) for 47

Essentially we only go back 7 spots

2-part trades aren’t allowed, so it’s likely the AFL would reject the 2nd part of the trade.

Yeah, Nah…
Crippa, Lord, Cerra doing the bulk - Walsh, Jagga heavily rolling thru
Cinc if we are running a tag & pick your occasional cameo from anyone else wanting a crack.

Speed kills, time to step it up & change the look.
We have speed on the outside & coming from the back, I want to see it used.
Doc/Saad coming off the back move pretty bloody quick
Doc in a straight line can still move like he means it
I don't really understand where you're disagreeing with me other than the fact you've forgotten Hewett exists and is one of our first selected players.

I think we clearly rate Young pretty low. He was told to explore offers this trade season and were only retaining him for depth.

They have 2 of their own NGA’s that should possibly fall mid to later on in the draft, Cole a 195cm KPD type that represented VIC METRO is one and the other is tall defender Hoffman 190cm as well as FS Peckett 186cm midfielder…
They more than likely will play nice…
