Butters vs Rozee vs Gulden vs Green will do my head in all preseason
4 genuine superstars, who should go 115-120 (at least)

Burgess to the Crows could be relevant - apparently he'll play back and they have a few injuries in defence. Should be a bottom priced FWD in SC.

Grundy the biggest lock for 2024 now. Hopefully Sweet's move goes through. PS watch on Moyle too, if Dimma goes for 2 rucks like he often did at Richmond he could be cheap enough to put at R3.

Green/Butters - Gulden - Rozee for mine. Gulden will get tagged so I'll look to get him later. Hard to split Green and Butters, might just start both. Keen on LDU too.

Looks like could do a lot worse than going back to Grawndy days. The combo everyone in the world except Melbourne knew wouldn't work in AFL will work like a charm in SC.

Quite a few good rucks next year.

Gawn, Grundy, English, Briggs, Marshall, Darcy/Jackson(F1?), Witts

I generally like to pick the ruck with the best midfield that’s going to win a lot of games.

Think the way to go is pure rucks

English r1
Marshall r2
Can both play every game again?

Gawn as solo ruck slight discount
Grundy as solo ruck at a discount

Can Briggs play every game and build off this year? Could be r1
Witts coming to the end but Suns will be a threat!

Will be avoiding both Jackson and Darcy til Darcy leaves. The dual setup sucks for supercoach.

It’s too frustrating owning a ruckman who splits his time up forward.

It’s a great line even Xerri presents value as a pure ruck now!

Very sad that Soldo is getting traded.

Should be a decent shout at Port as the #1 guy.

R/F, averaged 86.9 over 8 games, 4 solo, 104.5 average without Nank.
85 (Witts)
126 (Williams)
79 (Reeves)
128 (Gawn, he dropped 215 lol)

Very sad indeed, as he kills off Sweet as an option if he gets to Port.

Will he still be R/F? Will likely start him if so, pass if ruck only I think.

Sweet meh anyways, Grundy/English/Gawn already hard enough to split.

Assume he'd hold R/F, 52% CBA, every game he played with Nank was <37%

Ginnivan should be a decent fwd rookie option/mid price. He’s likely to play every game
Priced at 52.6 probably an easy one to skip.

Imagine having to cheer him on in your SC team.

Don't mind him bar the ducking.
Have always liked the shit stirring small fwds, used to get around Ballantyne a few years back.

AFL clubs have been told they must provide more transparent information about injured players as the league also rapidly expands media access as part of its new CBA deal.

Clubs including Geelong had a host of players with ailments on their official injury list but no specific return date this year, which gave the fans little guidance about their likely return to AFL football.

The league had told clubs it would crack down and, as part of the new collective bargaining agreement, there are a host of new guidelines and rules for clubs.

The AFL rule states: “Clubs must ensure that all medical information issued to the media is credible, responsible, and specific in terms that are meaningful to teams, media, and fans. This includes the information in the weekly injury reports and information on injuries announced to the media during matches.”

Clubs are also told that within 15 minutes of a player leaving the ground with an injury mid-game the match broadcaster must be updated on the status of that injury.

The information should include the specific nature of the injury – hamstring or quad, left leg or right – and the likelihood of them returning during that match.

Clubs will also have to make their football bosses available to the broadcaster and media after teams are lodged to explain late changes or injury hiccups.

While many teams are excellent in providing information to match-day broadcasters and media to be relayed to fans, other clubs are more secretive or unwilling to help.

The league’s new media policy, as written under the CBA, demands every AFL coach is available to the match-day broadcaster at half time and pre-match, with all players available to the broadcaster from 90 minutes before the bounce.

The AFLPA and AFL have also agreed upon a new policy which means every player who took part in the previous week’s game must be available for interviews the next week.

The new AFL rule states a club will make available “its playing group, including substitutes, from the previous round to accredited media for a minimum of 45 minutes within 2 days (extended by one day in the event of a player or football department day off) of the conclusion of the Match.

The AFL and players have agreed growing football revenue through promotion can only help both parties, with players receiving a percentage of every AFL dollar earned.

Of the guys traded worth commenting on:

- Burgess is a watch. Going to play defence and Adelaide don't have a heap of options. Should be almost rookie priced.

- Ginnivan is a pass. Low scorer even when he plays well.

- Soldo a lock if given fwd / ruck status. Probably a pass as ruck only. Sweet is dead now

- Fisher close to a lock if given the Hall role and should get forward status.

- Dow a watch. Mid only and never been a great scorer even when playing well.

- Henry most likely a pass. Will be priced to high.

- Massismo a watch. If he can lock himself into the team as a halfback could score well and will be priced as a high rookie.

- Jordan is probably a pass unless he has an unbelievable preseason. Mid only.

- Taylor Adams is a watch. Injury risk but will get fwd status. If he is given big mid time could be worth a punt.

- Grundy is a lock. Will ruck solo and priced low

- Flynn is a watch. If he gets the number one ruck spot he is worth consideration depending on your ruck structure.

- Jack Billings probably a pass. If he gets mid time or high half forward could score well for his price. Would need a great preseason as also an injury risk.

- Coffield a lock if fit and playing

Everyone else a pretty obvious pass.

Players I'm keeping an eye on during trade period. More often going for more opportunities.

  • D. Robertsen (West Coast rumours)
  • Z Fisher (North - replace Ziebell / Halls role?)
  • P Dow
  • J Jordan (Sydney bound)
  • Grundy (likewise)
  • J Billings (probably not relevant but one to watch)
  • Coffield
  • J Sweet

Not as many out and out stars moving this year, but still some to watch.
Update on this.

the ones that I think are worth considering are Dow, Jordan, Grundy, Billings, and Coffield.

Grundy is probably a lock, the others are a watch in pre-season to see whether they are making the team and their role.

Looks like Soldo might have played a fair bit of time forward in the last four games. Fingers crossed gets DPP!

Where do we get that info from?

It will be interesting to see how SC deals with this split round scenario. Likely 8 teams playing round 1, then all 18 in round 2 (though word is this will still be labelled round 1 with 8 teams just playing 2 games). Then soon after the teams who have played the extra game will get a bye, not confirmed if that will all be in the same week.

It’s going to be a mess. there’s no genuinely good way to manage it

maybe the players who play the “pre” rd 1 just have their scores applied to the week they get off if that’s going to be early in the season, but that’s not a great result (there will be 92 players we all know their score for in advance and insight into their price change)

maybe those players are all locked after the “pre” rd so you still need to take them before knowing that but the normal rd 1 score counts SC rd 1 and the other used as above.

Wasn’t there a year where you could fully change your team after rd 1 in one format?

Maybe the 1st week if 4 games it ends up being a full refresh of team (unlimited trades) allowed going into the normal rd 1.

Could be a bench option next year if he is $123k he hasn't played a game since 2020

House of Footy understands Richmond will pick up Sam Naismith as a delisted free agent, replacing Ivan Soldo who departed for Port Adelaide.

Naismith was smashed by injury during his time at the Swans, managing just 30 games since his debut in 2014, and only two games since 2017.

After being delisted by Sydney in 2022, the 31-year-old has played for in the VFL for Port Melbourne, but has been recalled to AFL level and will don the yellow and black in season 2024.
Naismith has been prolific for the Borough, averaging 37 hitouts and almost 15 disposals over his 14 games this season.
