Mills' 2024 starting ownership just got a big boost after yesterday. A fit Mills priced at under 90 is a must-have. I suppose it would have been better if he finished off with another stinker, lots would have passed on him and made it more interesting.

Looks like Forwards will be a real challenge. Lots of talk about Flanders as F1 which speaks for itself lol
Flanders, Bolton, then KPFs and PODs

Tom Green is an even bigger lock than this year. Going to be one of the first picked almost every year for the next decade I imagine.

Bont, Oliver, Green, Dunkley I'm already pencilling in as my starting premos in the midfield. Tim Kelly will be strongly considered.

Like Owens and Windhager from the Saints.

Flanders a lock and Coleman look like good value.

Grundy a lock if he moves.

I'm staying the * away from Suns mids. Too unpredictable.
i agree with green being a lock. i see upside even at what he is likely to be priced at

but that is a huge amount of cash in the midfield.

the magic number was high this year i believe. but here is what i calculated those 4 would be priced at if the magic number is the same again in 2024

Bont - $714100
Oliver - $664000
Dunkley - $634300
Green- $612200

over a quarter of the team starting budget there. when you factor in probably having to pay 700k+ for english as well the rest of the team will be quite constrained

im leaning towards starting one of the first 3, green and then looking for some more value in the midfield - usually the best line to get value out of rookies and underpriced players who get time inside. think mills and hewett are two i would strongly consider if they have the roles they did to start 2022 again. miller, steele and macrae i am less keen on but would have to pay attention to in the same vein

Hopefully Bont wins the Brownlow then we don't have to pick him next year.

I'm not sure I'll be starting English next season. Seems foolish and I promised myself I would start him, but the Bulldogs looked much better when Lobb was the main ruck on the weekend. Bevo or not, it's surely something that they have to explore next year.

My thinking with Bont, Oliver, and Dunkley is that I can't see their prices falling that much. I might skip Bont if he wins the Brownlow this year given that dreaded curse - especially the latter 2.

Lobb hates rucking and sooked when Freo wanted him to do it.

Wouldn't read too much into that Geelong game.

Has he been good enough as a forward to be making demands about where he plays though?

Was he told he play as a forward to help convince him to join? I don't know. But English was the best ruck by miles this year, not sure a half vs Geelong is enough to rule him out.

Rumours going around that Crazy Bevo might be on the way out too, a lot could change at the Dogs.

Early outline of a team, just so I can look back and laugh at myself or wish I started half these players.

Def: Daicos, Stewart, Young, HH, Coffield, rookie x3

Mid: Oliver, Butters, Brayshaw or Serong, Gulden, rookie x7

Ruc: English, Grundy, $102k

Fwd: Flanders, Jackson, Lynch, Reid, rookie x4

Big watch on Matt Crouch if he moves clubs.

Keen on Sheezel too if North say he'll play seagull again.

Macrae over Jackson if he gets a better role/ Bevo gets sacked.

last time he played a full season ?

I think there's a common thread in all my best overall results over the years - set and forget ruck pairing.

Makes such a difference if you're not spending trades on rucks - or perhaps just ~2 to capitalize on the cash-cow bolter that appears most years and gets the #1 gig at their club due to injuries.

Gun mids almost ALWAYS have ebbs and flows, so try to buy 'em when they're down and then save up for whichever of the freaks is having an all-up year (Bont, Trac, etc this season). It hurts a little along the way, but you make it up late in the year when everyone's out of trades or stuck with some mid-season flash-in-the-pan dickhead and you're rolling basically all the top 8 mid SPs.

Surely, W Brodie returns next year he would have to be cheap (price ?)

Still not sure why he couldn't get a game since Rnd 7

This was the first year I got into super coach, I told myself I wasn’t going to play next year but here I am planning for 2024.

Regarding choosing players for next year. I have a list that fills out most of my team of players who I like, think will keep progressing in their development, have the same out put next year and will keep their role.

Is this the way some coaches select their teams or is this dangerous as you could become attached to a player and miss out on another?

Bazlenka Smith is not leaving the Dogs. He's out of contract at the end of 2024. That basically makes him a lock. I assume he'll be FWD/MID?
