Grundy likely lock if he gets to Sydney. I think Jordon Sweet will get a gig with a genuine chance of starting ruck.

R2 or R3 is the question.Jordon Sweet likely to go to Port on 3 year deal.
Could be the most popular ruck next season, I suspect most will have him R3 and even R2 starting the season.
If Sweet gets the full discount he'll be $245-250k.R2 or R3 is the question.
Grundy R1 and Sweet R2 means you can load up on premos elsewhere.
Depending on his price and rookies available on other lines, might be best to take him at R3.

Pricey @ R3 but could be an option.
Gawn, Grundy - Sweet? All underpriced.
The way the universe works, and the way Grundy saga panned out, you just know Gawn will cop an LTI next year and the Dees will be rucking with spuds. Meanwhile Grundy will be at the Swans averaging 20 touches a game. The AFL media will lap it up.If Sweet gets the full discount he'll be $245-250k.

What if they get McKay?BZT leaving just confirms i will be staying away from ridley. constantly teases that he will get that perfect stewart / sicily esque loose defender role with kick ins and be an uber premo down back but either gets injured himself or his teammates do and hes forced to play accountable and ruin his scoring. BZT leaving will just exacerbate this and make it more likely ridley is asked to play lockdown roles
Yeah good point. He already got a 10% discount on his '22 average this year.
Then played 0 AFL games, dunno how they go about pricing that.
If they just use his '22 average again and he gets a 30% discount instead he'd be about 270k.
mckay has not really shown to be much chop as a lockdown defender, which is the type of acquisition i would like to see to allow riddle to really shine. mckay more of an intercept defender which if anything i could see negatively impact ridley's potential role. would need to hear scott pretty much explicitly say mckay is seen as a lockdown defender in that backline to even think about ridley, and even then i dont trust mckay to stay on the park to ensure ridley is allowed to play loose. What if they get McKay?
No chance. Is Himmelberg a chance to be a forward?
| Defence | 54% |
| Ruck | 12% |
| Forward | 34% |
Thanks. Anyone want to have a crack at the top 6 forwards for next year? It is dire....No chance.
This was his split at round 20, and he played defence ever since. Will be Def only.
Harry Himmelberg
Defence 54% Ruck 12% Forward 34%
Macrae and Flanders probably.Thanks. Anyone want to have a crack at the top 6 forwards for next year? It is dire....
Macrae, Flanders, Bazlenka, Curnow, Jackson, Bolton?
Potential breakout players are Owens, Rachele and Hobbs. Others will emerge I'm sure.
I agree with the rucks. Grundy and Sweet are solid picks for now (Sweet likely R2). He scored very well in the VFL this year.
I am really big on Mitch Owens next year. Think he will go 90+ pretty comfortably.Early days but am thinking of putting a team together like this for pre season next year.
B - Daicos, Sheezel, Young, Himmelberg, rookie x2
M - Oliver, Butters, Brayshaw, Green, Walsh, rookie x3
R - Grundy Sweet
F - Macrae, Owens, Flandlers, Reid, rookie x2
I prefer " Greet"Jordon Sweet as the solo ruck last year:

Did well against some decent opposition.
R2
Hello Swundy![]()
Yes I'm keen on Newman. Great role and high DE. Got him when Daicos went down and he did really wellI really like the role that Newman has now and his scoring is excellent. Averaged 89 before the bye round and after that went at 112 for the final 10 games. Will be priced at bang on 100 but I think he could go 110 pretty comfortably next year.
Sweet has massively improved this year under guidance of Stef Martin and Lade, especially his follow up work. His marking is woeful though.R1 - Grundy
R2 - Sweet
R3 - Conway
Will monitor Sweet as I'm not sure how good he is, tap work seemed to be good but around the ground lacking last time I saw him. Suspect they've offered him first crack at ruck position in contract negotiations. Anyway this will be my starting ruck line for all preseason unless something dramatic changes.
Walsh might be a lock priced at 103 (ahead of a $600k+ bloke; use the cash elsewhere)
Do we have to seriously consider George Hewett? Maybe getting dropped did him good.
