Jarryd will be giving it absolutely everything he has got, he's OOC end of 2024 and 32 years of age next July, 2024 probably the last of his AFL careerWe’ve got to get that one game out of him![]()
Yeah wow that is quite noticeable. I know lot of guys have different body shapes and its hard to figure out whats best for each individual player, but for a 190cm plus mid he does look small up topIt’s been very noticeable in all the preseason photos, including today’s, how heavily strapped it is.
It’s also quite noticeable how much smaller Berry is through the shoulders, compared to Dunkley.
i dont think lyons is capable of playing dunkley's role tbh. i disliked how the midfield operated when he played for dunkley against melbourne. i would rather play robertson or berry in that role. if neale went down it would be interesting to see whether we bring lyons in as a like for like, or shuffle how the midfield operates a bit to let dunkley be the main man supported by robertson / tunstill as the defensive foil.Jarryd will be giving it absolutely everything he has got, he's OOC end of 2024 and 32 years of age next July, 2024 probably the last of his AFL career
Unlikely to get another go in seniors unless Neale or Dunkley get injured IMO.

Guaranteed to get 1 game in 2024 even if they drop the sub and just have 5 on the bench.Jarryd will be giving it absolutely everything he has got, he's OOC end of 2024 and 32 years of age next July, 2024 probably the last of his AFL career

I believe it’s time to give up on the idea of Berry playing inside.i dont think lyons is capable of playing dunkley's role tbh. i disliked how the midfield operated when he played for dunkley against melbourne. i would rather play robertson or berry in that role. if neale went down it would be interesting to see whether we bring lyons in as a like for like, or shuffle how the midfield operates a bit to let dunkley be the main man supported by robertson / tunstill as the defensive foil.
what lyons COULD do imo is play washcroft's role until he is ready to return from acl. will depend on how well he is moving and how much ground he is covering. lyons is actually pretty skilled on the outside so i dont mind him having something like 40-50% time on ball / centre bounces and then playing through a flank as a high hff for the remainder of his tog. similar role to zorko this year. would probably need to squeeze dev or zorko out of the team though and i dont think his ability to track defensively will ever be as good as robertson's and zorko is a superior field kick.
I believe it’s time to give up on the idea of Berry playing inside.
I don’t believe Lyons has the running ability, power or speed, to play anything close to how Ashcroft played, before his injury.
Call me skeptical.Certainly is not the time to give up on that idea. Final surgery on his shoulder is done. Ya boy is ready for a little rough and tumble now!
Call me skeptical.

But don't call me Shirley.Call me skeptical.
He’s just got that lean body type. Has always been a “skinny” type as in his upper body isn’t that broad. It’s been very noticeable in all the preseason photos, including today’s, how heavily strapped it is.
It’s also quite noticeable how much smaller Berry is through the shoulders, compared to Dunkley.
He doesn't look lean at all he looks exactly the same as last season.

Berry can do a good job in the midfield if it is in a hard tagging role like his job on Clayton Oliver in IIRC the 2022 final, I agree that as a dedicated inside mid he would struggle.I’ll be surprised if the club even considers him (at this time given his long “layoff” of inside work) for an inside role. Make sure he can actually train at his best capacity for now instead of missing half the training circuit due to shoulder issues.
I don’t rate Berry as an inside mid anyways from the games he’s played there in the past and he would be down the pecking order after such a long layoff from that role.
Priority is getting him through the pre season unscathed.
Similar shape to Blakey. He’s just got that lean body type. Has always been a “skinny” type as in his upper body isn’t that broad.
But the ongoing issues with his shoulders have also stopped him from doing some upper body exercises.

I would back Henry Smith for the spoon. Was that the time trial on Saturday? Did anyone get down or was it a closed session?
If I were a betting man.
