Thats refreshing to hear, what the fk had we been doing before that?
Saving money so the bottom line looked good despite all the saga related expenses .

Excited to see what positional changes to Martin and Durham can do to the side. Durham's competitive nature is welcome in the midfield and Martin's skills across HB could be a game-changer.

Better approach all round. Players preparing and rehabbing better after training. Methodical approach to injury recovery and more fine tuned programs for individual players plus more staff.
Do you think that was something we kinda knew was required but skimped on to save money, or just simply weren't aware that's what other clubs were doing?

ant555 sorry if I missed it but who was taking kick-ins yesterday? Did it seem like we were preferencing martin or was it similar to last year where we had a more even spread based seemingly on who was closest along with Redman/McGrath (and normally Ridley who missed right).

Various.

They told XC to focus on saving the financial position. The footy department was collateral damage .

ant555 what does your best 22 for round one look like at this stage assuming Draper and Shiel don't make it in time and assuming Hobbs recovers?
Haven't done one and it is not really something I do all that often.

Loving the positions

Martin - HBF
Caldwell - FWD
Stringer - MID
Kelly - Out to no no where
Hind - FWD (I still like across HBF butbnot needed with Martin), maybe they can do both

Tsatas - Wing
Cox - Back

Think ive been saying all these 6/7 moves for a while now. Scott knows what hes doing

List seems to have got a lot more consistency, been better numbers wise in rehab on track, certainly helps

I still wouldnt mind a look at Archie on a wing for a period. His tank, size, discipline and line breaking could work there for sure, does take away one of his major assets of stand up in the contest.

Just think Zerrett, Parish, Stringer, Hobbs and Setterfield sound all ahead of him. Caldwell more versatility means he can be fwd. Shiel probably still aswell after 8 weeks of full mains training. I hope Archie has stepped up, its been said every PS for a while, but then lost come in season

Starting to think it may be Hind over H.Jones with the form on track. Not going to be against that

Nick Bryan can he hold down the ruck spot now is a question i hope and i feel the coaches must be asking themselves. As a small midfield you need a ruck who can handle themselves physically. The first 4 weeks vs Reeves, Grundy, ROMA and Soldo may be the only thing holding this back. Really need to be winning atleast 2 of these to be in the mix. I think im giving him the first 10 weeks solo, with a bit of RUCK as sub in some of the games as backup. Ease Draper to after the bye with some VFL beforehand

I'm going to agree with this round one side, though I'm going with Tsatas over Caddy. Laverde will probably make the side as well.
Caddy to me competes for a spot with Jones.

Realistically though, at least one of Heppell or Kelly make it which I'm fine with. And Nick Hind depending on preseason games will also be pushing for a spot.

Its very attacking which i dont mind. Some decent AFL experienced depth in the names missed.

Shiel, Laverde, Kelly, Hind, Guelfi, Tsatas, Bryan, Baldwin, Cox, ADJ, Heppell

If we can stay healthy we might finally get a season where there is genuine competition for spots.

He loves talking us up in pre-season so he can label us the big disappointments in his season review

dont think king is talking us up at all.

all he is saying is we seem to have standards now, most of his praise was for Martin.

Youd be stretching a very long bow to suggest king is predicting we will do anything of note this year
