What a great atmosphere, felt like a final.

Disappointed to lose but not concerned. Geelong are well drilled disciplined side who are as good as we have played this year yet I feel like we can beat them when it matters later this year

We simply didn’t take our chances
Went back to “bombing it” to often
Too many passengers
Small forwards ineffective (please don’t tell me they work defensively as that is crap)

We are lacking some quality depth in games like this.
Key players we missed are Cerra McGovern Motlop Saad. Would make all the difference

Our contested work and effort was fantastic
Just need to be smarter and take our chances
Some personnel and positional changes are needed as well

No need in analysing that game, statistically we should've won, biggest obstacle was goal kicking, had more than enough looks just couldn't seal the deal.
As soon as Durdin, Cowan, Young and (sadly) Ollie are replaced we start winning.
That would mean Cera, McGov, Marchie and Binns in the 23....

Ok you might not get goals every game, and we can accept that as long as you contribute defensively. But he provides little of that too. Routinely watches his man run off him. It's really not good enough.

Hopefully the elite high performance department can fix motlops "stubbed toe" sooner rather than later. He's very missed right now

1 tackle and a lousy 6 pressure acts for a small forward. That was a real stinker. He was a momentum killer today.

If your fwd has three opponent and you have one or two chasing you surely someone is free ..
We kicked bad but in general play were never out of game -- our fwd press needs tweeking -as we give up to many easy shots on goal from turnover plays - our small fwds are a real let down..
Saying all that -Don't think we lose to them again this year.

I wanted to get a look at Binns and although it was only a quarter, he really didn't look like he belonged out there. I'd consider Elijah on Ollie's wing, rotating with Cottrell. Has the same tank.

We win 50 entries almost every week. We did last year too. So do Melbourne. Yet both of us have low conversion of goals to entries. Maybe because we get there from stoppage and clearances when teams are set up behind the ball. We kick into congestion. As compared to Geelong today who lost stoppage and clearance but go forward from transition when the field has been spread and they enter to an open forward line.
Being stoppage dominant clearly has benefits, but also might create difficulty up forward.

I am really ****ing sick of Geelong being good.
As much as I hate 'em, I disagree.
The game should have been over at 1/4 time. It wasn't but for eg 7.3 would have been a different mindset for both sides. That's just football though.
As for Geelong, bear in mind that they struggled to shake off a team that was missing at least 8 first choice players, and some that would be handy inclusions to most sides.

Rather than Geelong being a great side, I think they were a very efficient side but with our disgusting disposal in general play they had plenty of opportunities.

Other Changing motlop for Martin, I agree with everything.

lack of efficiency in front of goal is losing us games.

He can't. The tribunal have decided his opponents are free to punch him in the face.
No he’s a 3rd KPD at best.

We lost because we weren’t efficient, it’s as simple as that.

I’m proud of the lads the way they guttsed it out. Will look forward to when a few better players come back.

Agree, but he only got a quarter, I'd be dropping the ineffectual 4 quarter blokes first, like Durdin/Owies

Cowan and Young would be the two being carried in the backline so Cinc could come in for Cowan if Voss is prepared to make the changes.

Voss selected Cowan ahead of Cincotta two weeks running, so I suspect he's going to keep doing that until Saad comes back. Not sure whether it's because Cincotta has been trying out midfield minutes, or he just likes Cowan more. Both have mongrel but Cincotta has pace. Vossy does like his penetrating kickers though.
