I think you’re overthinking it Caes. It’s just an expression. But can it help us eventually further our lead on the others (if we keep winning)?
Sorry I feel like I'm a pretty capable person until it comes to making sense of the ladder and then my brain turns to absolute mush
It means we have a better points per game ratio than the teams below us. Of course if we lose the game in hand it means nothing, but until then it's an extra chance.Again this might make me sound dumb, but I don't really understand the whole "game in hand" thing. Like yeah we have an extra game but it's useless until we actually win it isn't it?
Feels a bit like Max Verstappen leading a race. But I refuse to feel too comfortable. A win v Geelong would put me into pure bliss - feels like an 8 point game not just between us and Geelong, but the remainder too. Win this and we are a lightyear ahead with a game less left to play and with still a game in hand over some teams, lose and all of a sudden we're looking over the shoulder at a sizeable pack of teams. Desperately want us to win this game.I think you’re overthinking it Caes. It’s just an expression.
We were a game and a half clear of Essendon, when we’d both played the same number of games.
Now that they’ve played one more game than us, and lost that game, and we’ve yet to play that extra game, we’re still a game and a half ahead despite having played one fewer than the Bombers.
And it goes without saying, we have the potential to go even further ahead if we win this week.

Horse has the right idea. Win 'em one at a time and the rest takes care of itself. Leave the worries to us!Feels a bit like Max Verstappen leading a race. But I refuse to feel too comfortable. Saying 'with a game in hand' is simply a qualifier. The statement 'Sydney are 6 points & 30% clear at the top of the table' is not an accurate representation of Sydney's position without the qualifier, because we still have a game to play.Again this might make me sound dumb, but I don't really understand the whole "game in hand" thing. Like yeah we have an extra game but it's useless until we actually win it isn't it?
I posted at the start of the season that we will hit the ground running and not ease into it , best pre season ever and it's showing. If we can get the break to 10 points you might find a couple might get rested , Grundy for example . I don't like it but the Cats have proved it can work .Horse has the right idea. Win 'em one at a time and the rest takes care of itself. Leave the worries to us!![]()
Essendon dropped a game yesterday so win this and we will be 2 and a half games clear.
Five non-Vic teams in the eight feels about right but my dream is eight in the eight. As well as we are going I am pleased the other non Vic teams are playing well.
Really keen for Vic clubs, at best, to finish in the bottom part of the 8.

If it's a Swans vs GWS GF we should hold the parade in Sydney.hahahahaha ... geez, yeah, the chaos that would create in the vic media, and not just the football media, would be highly entertaining ...
they really would struggle to maintain any genuine enthusiasm across the four weeks of finals, and by grand final time you can imagine some of the talking heads just wanting to say "and this week's grand final parade ... ah just fck off"
The revenge by the football establishment would be dire.Five non-Vic teams in the eight feels about right but my dream is eight in the eight.

If they block the CBD in Sydney for this I'll ****ing riot.
Not at all. They will close the Harbour Bridge for it though.
Anyone else nervous about this game. Geelong has been our hoodoo team as of late.

I'm genuinely nervous at how the new htb thing may affect us. Also keeping in mind it could potentially make us better since we're so tackle focused.Anyone else nervous about this game. Geelong has been our hoodoo team as of late.
