With the new sub rule its tempting me to play an extra rookie in defence. They might not score as well but you pretty much know Gibcus, Reid, Phillips and to a lesser extent Coffield aren't getting subbed in or out barring injury.

Most teams play an extra winger or forward as sub. One sub in or out and cash gen is killed for 3 weeks.

Also makes a midpricer strategy more appealing.

Just started my SC year this week, reading and still confused

If every game this week doesn’t count, then the players for those teams play one SC game less right?
So why would we pick them, as you need to cover them for two byes not one?

Or have I got it all wrong (entirely possible)?

Yep, that’s the dilemma.

The problem is there are too many good players with RD0 - e.g. Gawn, Daicos, Gulden - are you going to skip them all?

Depends where you see value, mate.

If you think Gawn and Daicos will be near enough to best on their respective line then you pick them.

Daicos is a decent skipper option as well.

Grundy as a solo ruck also represents decent value.

Gulden also (would’ve been one my first mids picked if not for the round zero sitch$

Going light on round zero players seems the play.

so which of sydney’s 8 defenders is playing somewhere else?

I/C: B.Campbell 16 M.Roberts 34 H.Cunningham 7 S.Wicks 15 R.Fox 42

None on the bench are genuine Defenders more utility players and Wicks is a forward.

Good move just starting this week ,I started four weeks ago and I'm up to team version 475.

I missed the new sub rule - what is it?

teams of 23 are announced (5 on bench) - Subs are only named 1 hour before game time.

will no longer come from emergency list

Is there anything this flog Dillon has done RIGHT since becoming CEO?

Stupid Opening Round, more byes, even less clarity regarding team selection giving coaches even more opportunity to be campaigners

Almost makes me want Gil back

It's just more of the same sh!t. Ignore the fans, make more stoopid and unnecessary changes promote from within. Boys club rulz.
Would love to ask Brad Scott about his time there. Gil seemed quite happy to fully endorse him for another coaching gig while Scott was still at HQ. Made me wonder if Brad was looking around the room saying (out loud) WTAF??

Anyone else gonna be super bored watching these games when there's very little Supercoach at stake? :moustache:

I'm super excited to see Clayton Oliver step over that white line tomorrow night.

no points at stake this week but we get a free look at how players perform in the real stuff.

Must watch for rookies and mid pricers especially
  • did they get the role we were expecting
  • are they capable of scoring to the level needed to make decent cash
  • did a rookie get the green vest
  • who took the kickouts
  • who got cbas and who didn't

I guarantee your current team will change

I am a big fan of opening round. So much so I think it should be expanded next year to include every team and renamed ROUND 1.

Or, we move the "traditional" Carlton Richmond game to a standalone the week before Opening Round and call it "Round Negative One."

Eventually we can get to a point where teams that didn't make finals kick off the next season in the bye round before the current season's Grand Final, thereby deciding order of picks in that year's National Draft, but during a non Finals teams Trade week so players can audition for potential destination clubs.
