Has there been any indication that Goad actually already wants home though?

You would think the Roos recruiting crew would have had his retention as number one priority when they did their interviews using a 1st round pick so soon after losing another SA player JHF to the "go home" effect.
I'm not sure Norths recruiting crew are much chop.
Their high draft picks kind of picked themselves, and they've even managed to stuff that a few times.

Is that only top 20? Could very well be wrong. Goad was pick 20 though, so moot on this occasion.

KANGAS TO LOCK IN YOUNG PAIR

NORTH Melbourne is set to lock away two more key parts of its defensive future, with the Kangaroos closing on deals for first-round selections Wil Dawson and Riley Hardeman.

The pair were taken at picks No.22 and 23 respectively last year, meaning they each earned the standard two-year draftee contracts, though North Melbourne is close to securing agreements to extend each by an extra season.

It will take Dawson and Hardeman through until 2026, which is when the club's remaining three first-round picks from last year in Colby McKercher, Zane Duursma and Taylor Goad are due to fall out of contract for the first time.

McKercher, Duursma and Goad all earned initial three-year deals due to being top-20 picks.

As long as the small vic clubs and interstate clubs keep being our feeder club we'll be right. The day we take an A grader off Collingwood or Carlton (or even a B grader probably), look out.
Betts, Gibbs, Sauce
Two out of three ain't bad.
Carlton have been good for us overall.
Collingwood... Seedsman might be about it. Are there others? I'm not sure.

McCartney was pretty good too....I think it might have advantaged our dealings with GWS as well.:)
James was an important contributor to our premierships.

McCartney's best was elsewhere.

If we're better than 5 5 by round 10, we're doing well
01. HOME Saints
02. AWAY Bombers
03. HOME Kangas
04. AWAY Suns
05. HOME Cats
06. HOME Giants
07. AWAY Freo
08. HOME Carlton
09. HOME Paer
10. AWAY Pies

Doing well to be better than 5-5? We have 6 home games in that span and one is against a St Kilda team that is decimated by injury!! I guess Nicks is aiming for 4 out of 10 to pump up his career win rate though 🤔

We need to bank our "extra" wins early if we are going to get to the finals imo.

Interesting to revisit our double ups, Squiggle 2025 rank:

1 Brisbane Lions
2 Hawthorn
3 Geelong
4 Western Bulldogs
5 Fremantle
6 Adelaide
7 Carlton
8 Collingwood
9 Port Adelaide

10 Melbourne
11 Sydney
12 Greater Western Sydney
13 Gold Coast
14 St Kilda
15 Essendon
16 West Coast
17 North Melbourne

18 Richmond

I don't think North and WC will be absolute push-overs in 2025, not close to the Tigers. Not amazed to see Geelong get the Tigers twice, I mean they need a real leg up of the extra free win and percentage.

We’ll chew that up and sh*t that out
