Interesting list to see the weight range of many of the players.

What ive noticed with that list, is that the smaller players (whether its small forwards or defenders) tend to be the lightest - maybe because they are usually running a lot, applying pressure or run and carry.
Heaviest usually rucks, or key forwards/defenders.

Mids prob somewhere in between

Steele Sidebottom listed as 86kg.
Murphy easily 90kg+
I'm simply saying we don't know how accurate it is that Sam is 78kg. He could be. He may not be.

Besides, I'm sure it wouldn't take much to put on some kilo's if it was deemed necessary.

Agree mate, but at 85kg he would be more imposing. Most new AFL players in the system bulk up a bit.
They seem to take it more seriously once in the system.
78kg is pretty light for a guy his size.
Bobby hill is around 72kg
Don't worry, we'll fatten him up with souvlakis

Yes it's definitely necessary for guys his size playing on big forwards.
Not by much. Another 5 to 10 kg.
Like what Quaynor has achieved.
It will happen within a professional organisation like ours.

Tew not the body on body defender type.

He can be a little on the light side cause the role is intercept, rebound and third man up spoil

That being said I don’t see Ryan or Jiath coming in to play multiple seniors games this year unless several injuries

Neither will play Moore or Murphy roles on the bigger forwards… Frampton and Dean will

And Howe, Quaynor and Maynard are incumbent in the medium roles

His brother took 4 years to really cement himself, Tew will probably be similar.

I don’t think it’s about taking it more seriously. VFL guys have to work full time jobs for a living on top of training. They just don’t have the time to spend in the gym bulking up that the pro guys do.

Positive about 6 SSP train ons is that you get an extra 3 positions filled in an intra club.

That said for every Markov there's a Briskey 🤷
It's one reason why Kelly would be good as a train on - one of them will know the systems.

Three days of the off-season left. Come Monday we're back. I know you're all excited.

Maybe not as excited as you Jen, but your ‘season’ starts on Monday. I hope you’re ready with sunscreen, hat, and did you say you have a new and better phone?😁

and yet in his first game he banged that goal in from 50 on the run and we thought , what have we got here. That’s still his only highlight from senior footy, says a lot

I enjoyed his cameo’s against the Bombers and Crows this year, especially the Crows game.

I re-watched the anzac day game last night when he was the sub, thought he played pretty well. Its when they first experimented him on the wing.

That's ok, he is in a great system, build up his body, might even grow a little more.
Can see him being a real weapon down back in two or three years time.

We don’t even know the provenance of that 72kg weight measurement. Could already be heavier than that. I’m not sure why it matters, he’ll get opportunities when there’s a senior vacancy and his VFL footy is ticking the right boxes, not when he hits some arbitrary weight.

Tew has a lovely frame. I think he will bulk up quickly with a good weights program.

He will have a big physique within 18 months. An impressive frame
Core strength takes a while with the typical Sudanese athletes - which he looks like. They're physically quite different to the West and central Africans.
