All the best JL,one of my favs.

Has announced his retirement hasn't he?

Anyway, he always played his guts out for us after GC gave him the arse and gave us great service for the first few years of Fages' tenure

He got a bit unfairly criticised IMO for his lack of two way run.

Wish him all the best .

seperate to that team and don’t think it happened last year but it’s always seemed the Reserves B&F winner was a poison chalice of winners getting delisted shortly thereafter.
Pretty much - if you're good enough to win it, you're probably a mature and developed option. If you're playing in reserves enough to win it, you're one that's considered not good enough for seniors. The combo of the two doesn't bode well for your time on the list.

Werribee held off a fast-finishing Southport to win the VFL flag by 6 points after Buzza dropped a high pack mark that would have given the Sharks a late chance to tie the scores. Pretty ordinary game of football from what I saw of it.

Dunno if it was covered anywhere, but here's the top ten in the reserves' B&F. Love the juxtaposition with the exit sign.

Looks like the coaches rated James Madden's season, I wonder did he get a tap on the shoulder that he was going to be delisted or were we open to him staying but he just wanted to head back home to Ireland?

All I have seen published is that he was going back home.

5 of the top 10 prob not be here next year.
Pretty even spread 13 points between 1st to 10th
And the last is the place kicker for the Cincinnati Bengals - probably just played some reserves for us in his off-season.

Tidbit from the VFL board:

Done deal: the first 40 signings of the VFL off-season

It’s been a busy start to recruiting for VFL clubs as they set out to bolster their squads for the 2025 season. Here are 40 confirmed signings – and a few more in the works.

Player signings are gathering pace across the VFL for the 2025.

Here are the first 40 recruits, in alphabetical order.

[snip]

Riley Greene, North Bullants

Next season brings fresh playing fields for Greene, who has been on Brisbane Lions’ VFL list for three years and will stiffen the Ants’ backline.

Will Martyn returning back to Victoria next year.

Peter Ryan
No official announcement yet but ex-Tiger Will Martyn, back in Victoria, tipped to play at Port Melbourne next year. He signed with the Borough for 2023 but ended up going back to Queensland

Will Martyn is fantastic at signing for VFL clubs and then ditching them in January. Lets see who it is this time.
I suppose you can be fantastic at something if you you do it successfully once...

Paul Amy

Collingwood being linked with Liam Hude, who has relocated to Melbourne after playing 10 games with Brisbane VFL this year. Was an Allies representative at the Under 18 national championships in 2022

Did anyone catch the interview where Levi said he'd be living with Will and another mate who was going to playing for the VFL side this year? I wonder if that meant someone who was already with the team or a new recruit...

James Creighton. Has played VFL with GWS the last 2 years and played with Will in his Coates Talent League I think.

Who plays where in 2025 after retirements & delisting's
A bit of a guess as we most likely get some different top up players
Some of the ACL boys may play VFL early or for a while

Lyons: Levi/Marshall. You would think only one could break into the side early. Likely Levi.
Sharp: McCarthy/Torrent/Lloyd
Madden: McKenna/Doedee/Answerth/Coleman
Prior: McKenna/Doedee/Answerth/Coleman
Lane: More ruck time for Smith or Day if not in the seniors.

Michael: Hardly played

I genuinely want to see at least 6 of our undrafted academy kids play for our VFL team next season.

Really don’t see the benefit of them all playing academy games next year, unless it’s a genuine requirement for us to retain academy rights to them.
