Lost by two points. Both sides seemed happy to just bog the play down on the defensive wings. Lions never looked like taking the game on. Gonna be the same issues as last year: too top heavy in attack, short in defence and not enough outside run. Can’t say anyone put their hand up for senior selection. Also, VFL umpires… yeesh.

Maybe they will give him half a game and if he pulls up really well he will get named for the Collingwood Eater Thursday clash.

Interesting that Jack Payne is also playing in the VFL on Saturday.

Looking forward to getting some feedback on how a few of the guys go. Big chance to impress for some of the fringe players, particularly keen to know how Prior, Madden, Joyce and Payne go.
As I am still travelling in Tassie won’t get a chance to watch the game. Been in some remote parts. Hard to keep up with the footy news. Has the first season started yet?

Nah mate, hasn't started yet. We had an open training session a couple of Friday nights ago which had an amazing turnout, about 33,000 turned up (even a few Carlton fans were there too for some reason) and all the boys looked fantastic. But it was only a short 30-40 minute hit-out and we haven't really seen anything from them since.

Not going to lie, quite disappointed with the lineup presented given how we have fared with our AFL side right now.

It was never going to happen, but players like Rayner, Berry, Lyons and etc (there’s more) should have played to earn their spots on Easter Thursday with the VFL-only listed players not been picked.

Anyways, all the best for our debutants and co for our VFL on Saturday and hopefully we perform better than our AFL team at this current moment of time.
