Some big fallout for the selection committee.

After talking bull crap for months on the ND / Miami situation and them not being in the same conversation, the doomsday scenario plays out with Duke winning the ACC and they've either got to upset a conference or am independent national brand.

I wonder if this will drive change to the ranking approach which allows the subjective application guidelines to put in whomever they want, which is probably worse for the smaller schools and conferences.

There is talk Notre Dame might leave ACC for their other sports due to them actively lobbying against them for championship even thou their a member in other sports.

I don't think that "this was a message" about joining a conference like some of the talking heads do - more that it was unfortunate with the way the results played out and what is the less worst decision they could make. It was always going to create a problem

Rankings if determined by BCS
1765187197501.png

Which means
1. Indiana
2. Ohio State
3. Georgia
4. Texas Tech
5. Oregon
6. Ole Miss
7. Texas A&M
8. Oklahoma
9. Notre Dame
10. Alabama
11. Tulane
12. James Madison

So really, Alabama drops 1 spot, and Notre Dame's in instead of Miami (Fl)

Other teams receiving votes

Still blown away with how ****ed up Jeff Sagarin's rankings are.
Notre Dame ranked ahead of an unbeaten Indiana side????
It's why I always put him in first for these tables, when I eliminate the high and low outliers, it gives me massive pleasure getting to disregard all his ratings. 19 of his top 25 I got to disregard. Lovely pleasure.

The whole mess was a making of the committees own doing. moving Alabama up lastweek and not comparing ND and Miami till the final day.

ND's issues shouldnt be with Miami because of the H2H. it should of been with Alabama who got smashed and out classed as much as BYU did which had BYU drop but not Alabama. but moving them up 1 after scraping past a bad Auburn team was the tell that the committee cares more about some teams then others.

and ND then refusing to play in a bowl feels kinda poor. when they are the only team in the entire nation that has a playoff guarantee clause from next season. which you can lock them in for with that schedule.

Also showed that a whole lot of the media just want a SEC/Big10 invitational playoff system and screw the G5 and others even getting a crumb of success. which is disgusting. Upsets can happen, just look at the FCS 2nd round with NDSU blowing it at home as a 4 score favorite.

Seriously refusing the bowl feels kinda poor ?
Why should notre dame help espn make extra money with viewing numbers and advertisers by playing a meaning less bowl game where their best players would sit after espn and bowl committee screwed them out of a spot.
I am all for them dropping out wish more teams would do it after getting screwed by espn.

More that they feel so entitled to a playoff spot and because the CFP [wrongfully] picked Alabama over them. The school threw a temper tantrum. They could of said we will only go to the Sun bowl [CBS] or Holiday bowl [Fox] if it was to stick it to ESPN.

I think its the same for K-State and Iowa State refusing to go to bowl games. They used to be a reward and special for kids now schools are in a "playoff or bust" mentality and with the portal the kids are mercenaries and have no care for the school. Which feeds into the talking heads like those on ESPN and other networks who actually hate college football and only like logos and want G5 kicked out of the playoffs. They want a SEC/Big10 invitational.
We have teams like LSU and Texas still playing in bowls and they have publiclly said its playoffs or bust every year. and Texas even had a sook after the A&M game saying if they dont get in the playoffs they should talk to the SEC commissioner about if the SEC should even be apart of the CFP or just have their own thing.

If Alabama missed out again for ND they would of thrown the same temper tantrum and would be treated the same.

Even if ND made it they wouldnt of won. Just like Miami wont win it all. Same with Alabama or Oklahoma who dont deserve to be in the field either. There istn 10 teams worthy of winning it this season even when you take out the 2 G5 schools. Expanded playoffs wont fix the problems because the SEC and BIG10 want to run it with a bunch of auto bids and not give any extra room to G5 schools.

And ESPN isnt making any money off the pop-tarts bowl with or without ND anyway. smaller bowls are subsidized by the big ones. its always worked that way. Its just ND saying we are too good to win $6m or whatever the payout is.

This wouldnt of been an issue if the CFP ranked Miami, ND and Alabama right weeks ago. It should of been Miami at 9, ND at 10 and Alabama at 11 needing to win the SEC to get in. although you could of even had them up 1 more spot and Oklahoma at 10 only ahead of Bama because of the H2H with Bama still needing to win the SEC to get in.

I did see something funny about ND opting out of the pop tarts bowl.

It was something about now ND is pro choice and something else about how is this not a thing they are fighting for. a mascot being sacrificed and eaten by the winning team is like a dream for Catholics.

Probably not quite the right thread for it but did you get the College Football '26 game aussiedude ? Worth getting if you have '25?
I havent played too much this year. but i saw they finally made the run game usable a few weeks ago Dirty Bird would be better to ask. seen him playing more then i have.

According to Josh Pate, behind the scenes in the college world Sherrone Moore being fired is no surprise and some agents have been expecting the job to become open for weeks.

Apparently he knocked up a staff member.

He wasnt a good coach and since they stopped cheating have just been mid.

Already seen DeBore name thrown up. I understand Alabama are not impressed with the post Saben years but also now everyone is paying players not just the SEC and a handful of big schools [Ohio St, Michigan, USC, Oregon ect]. and i dont rate him as a HC would feel like a lateral move just to avoid being fired in a year or 2 by Bama if he did jump.

Some teams are struggling in the new NIL world where everyone pays players and its as of a level playing field as its been in decades. so they think they are better then they are and kids have no real loyalty to programs. and not everyone wants to go to cold ass Michigan/Ohio St when others are paying the same money. just like kids dont want to go to Alabama when 20 other schools can match the offer.

Even that tool from Barstool has said he wont pay more NIL to keep Underwood [who wasnt verry good for the hype] so he is a good chance to go into the portal.
