Richmond has back-to-back selections after picks three and four, but their actual draftees will likely be later after academy bids. ‘Bidmond’ is set to return, with the Tigers known to be fans of Dylan Patterson – who fits their need for speed – and key defender Harry Dean. A bid on Lions Academy midfielder Dan Annable is also a possibility. Rival clubs expect Eastern Ranges defender and Richmond fan Xavier Taylor to become a Tiger, but are less certain about their second pick. Lightning quick defender-mid Sam Grlj has been thrown around as a possibility, having impressed with their VFL program, but the Tigers have said publicly they will go best available rather than reach for a need. I have a feeling it’s still Robey and XT. There’s always a possibility (however slim), that Melbourne trades up to 2 to grab Robey. If this eventuates we might want to go Cummings to pair with CDT so we have a mid and a tall. That’s why we still need to do our DD and meet with each of the guys under consideration

If XT doesn’t get taken by Richmond the club that does would have real questions around how committed he would be there.

Richmond can just grant him his dream after his first contract.
