My take away from that interview is that we are taking Lindsay and Marsh which is who Calcium Man has been keen on for weeks.

On the flipside why would they still have 4 or 5 guys for 2 spots when they know who the 2 in front are going? In the mix for pick 3 and 4, and before that they mention they have a good idea who West Coast are taking.
I interpreted to not include CDT and Duursma.
Why would he narrow down the players to 4 or 5 if it included 2 that we weren't going to get.
Blair and Rh have repeatedly said we are drafting for our next run at a flag. Not next two years.
Broad and Vlas who have been culture changers and leaders leave in that time frame. Not addressing that when there is a top 5 talent in that position isn’t smart. Just saying.

Doesn't mean they don't rate the 2 guys in front. The question was how many were in the mix for 3 and 4 with a good idea on who the Eagles would take.On the flipside why would they still have 4 or 5 guys for 2 spots when they know who the 2 in front are going?
I reckon its really down to 2 or 3 with the WC 2 taken out, which aligns with what the Pies fan said to Cumming about being 1 of 3 options.
We're going to get 2 very good players, sit back and relax.Id be happy if either turned out to be that good

If it included the 2 West Coast are likely to take then that would be 2 or 3 other names which would be easy to guess.
Unfortunately too many seem to overlook this and only seem to focus on how our draft picks this week will impact the next 1-2 years. The kids we're picking are going to be the core of our side from 2028 on and by then there will be a lot of changes between how our list looks now and how it will look then.Blair and Rh have repeatedly said we are drafting for our next run at a flag. Doubt they give up on Fawcett & Lefau is handy KPF depth. Clarke they hopefully give more time to get his knee right, looks a comfortable best 22 player if fit and hasn't lost speed.Unfortunately too many seem to overlook this and only seem to focus on how our draft picks this week will impact the next 1-2 years. Just looking at our out of contract list for next year and I can easily see all of:
Prestia
Trezise
Clarke
Smith
Fawcett
Lefau
Broad
Sonsie
Departing the club at the end of next season, while the likes of Maurice & Lynch could go either way.
That's 10 changes in just 1 year
That to me sounds like a pick swap would be in contention.Listening to it again he says 8 then 8 or 9 players in frame for our pick and with wc picks getting clearer we are honing in.
I’m pretty sure the 8 or 9 includes Duursma and CDT, which basically says it’s down to 2 or 3.
Agree 10 is an unlikely amount of change, but it was more to highlight just how much the list will change between now and 2028 when we'd be expecting the 2024-2026 kids to become the new leaders of the playing group.Doubt they give up on Fawcett & Lefau is handy KPF depth. players we will bid on will be included in the 8-9 playersDid Giesen actually say " there are probably 8 or 9 players that are in the mix for that pick". "that pick" is singular when we have two picks. seems odd
Yeah good call - Sharp would be a pure mid but I think you're right, Sharp shapes as a slider becuase of the perception he has no outside game and doesn't fit with the new rebound game style. I think though that Robey is more limited in where he fits in with the midfield -more of an impact player rather than a key cog in the mid mix. Cumming strikes me more as a modern day midfielderPure mids aren’t what teams want.
I don’t think cumming or Robey are pure mids at all either. But the term pure mid is the player the game is going past at a rate of knots.
I’m hearing Tassie are already running into a lot of trouble just recruiting players to come play VFL and there’s a big worry already that there a lot of players who don’t want to move to Tasmania.Couldn't agree more...
This draft is not about how our team will look next year, but part of an overall plan to have a premiership team in the years to come.
Additional things to consider -
- Next year we have great F/S prosects looming that we will have to bid for and their player positions will come into calculations.
- Ageing star players that we will have to live without and we are preparing to cover.
- The prospect that a couple of current players will head to Tas. (We probably already have an idea who they are)
Really pleased with our recruiting team and happy with whatever they decide..
Go tiges...
Agree with thatIts cause we generally dont let anything out. Cal is guessing with Grjl
clubs do those interview because they have to.Did Giesen actually say " there are probably 8 or 9 players that are in the mix for that pick". "that pick" is singular when we have two picks. seems odd
If i didnt know better you have infoThe answer is XT.
Wonder if that was a bit deliberate, to try and entice Essendon or Melbourne to try and trade up for pick 3.... if they are both frothing at either Robey or CDT..My read from that interview is that XT is a lock, and then either Robey or Cumming. My gut takeaway was Cumming.
Also, I keep seeing people throw up McAuliffe as if he’s going to be our saviour. I’m not sure what I’m missing here. He was a late pick himself and has barely played/show anything. If he comes good then great, but I’d say there’s much more chance of him not making it than making it so he’s not in my thinking when looking at our future mids.
wtf is this real?
Yep, that’s what he said in the last Gettable episode on WednesdayTwomeys Phantom not due out until tonight now.
