Hopefully. This would be the dream result. I like Robey, however Broad is retiring at the end of next year, and Vlastuin is closer to the end too - and I just think Taylor has premiership player written all over him.

Also means we get a crack at Grlj and address the speed issue.

I wouldn't have thought it would be that hard to arrange a meeting earlier though especially for something as important as this. I don't know how it all works though and what's allowed and what isn't.

I don't doubt he is a gun defender. I know we are picking best available but I still don't believe it's wise to add yet another defender to our already plentiful stocks back there.
If we had a pick at the between 9 and 15 I'd be open to pulling the trigger on him but at pick 3 and 4 I just can't get on board.
I'm sure that in the next couple of years there will be another player with similar traits that we can select or even trade for.
If we are picking him because he could potentially end up as a midfielder then just pick a midfielder...

You had already made the case for it.

Rhy and the club have repeatedly said that we are drafting for talent at 3 and 4.

Best player regardless of position. One quality player with the right culture, attitude and leadership can go a long way.

Exactly this. Xavier Taylor seems amazing, but it’s really the only position that we have solid and settled depth in. You could argue KPF too, but at least you can say our KPFs are young and not settled yet.

We desperately need more midfield talent (both speed and contests), and at 3 + 4, I want us filling one of those attributes.

Not going to melt over selecting Xavier Taylor over Cumming because Taylor’s actually good, but it might end up a missed opportunity for us IMO if we do that

Who are the gun mids? Seems like the club reckons there aren’t any of note.

I could be imagining it but I’m sure I’ve heard our recruiter say previously they like going into a draftees family home to see the player in that environment.

Sam was boarding, playing academy and playing for NA all year, while doing year 12, don’t think it’s a stretch to say he might not have been home since term 1.

Also Blair visited Perth and Bo Allan last year the week before draft too. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t to tell cumming or bo we’re picking them or not. Just think we’re a thorough recruiting team who dots our i’s and crosses our t’s. We could always use the data if he becomes available in trade in future if we don’t pick him.
