Why have a meeting with Dan Annable this late into the draft?

Can a player say "nah yeah i want to go to richmond dont match the bid"?

Is it possible it’s Cumming that Essendon want to trade up for? Not robey. And we have made it really obvious we are after him to get them talking about a trade. A lot of people had cumming heading to the bombers prior to him being linked to us. I just find it hard to believe they would trade up for robey. Especially with limited exposure. If he turns out to be a bust it would look even more foolish of them.
I’m praying we don’t trade either of our two early picks. Please Blair, don’t give other clubs a look in at the better players, just take the two we rate highest.

Essendon would honestly be dumb as fk to sell the farm to trade up for a bolter who only has half a year of reliable exposed form.

Robey looks good but they honestly should just sit at 5, 6 and 9.
they will
be bottom 2 next year

if we snag their ff we dont have to tank next season, the last draft before tassie comes in !

what would it cost for essendon to move up from 5 to 4, a future second round pick? I can see essendon drafting Cumming, Dovaston (getting ahead of melbourne) then getting Sharp with the blues pick they traded for

Probably depends on who we've taken earlier in the draft.
If we take Cumming & Robey, I'm not sure if another big bodied mid is a requirement and NHH would probably be more of a need for balance
However, if we take Taylor plus one of Cumming/Robey, then I'd prefer we go with Jevan to continue adding to the midfield
Jevan Phillipou is not a big body
183cm and so is Cumming

We've got a fourth pick. I reckon the scenario with Kellaway is this:
  • If he gets a bid before 38, we let him go.
  • If he gets a bid after 38, but before 68 we may match depending on who is left on our draft board.
If he gets a bid after 68, we let him go (no list spots to match)
If he doesn't get a bid, we prelist him as a rookie.
I think it’s pretty unlikely the draft makes it to pick 68 this year

Just to tell him that we are prepared to take him if Brisbane don't match

Its' not down to the numbers it's how they play. Greeves is always in the same gear. One paced. Very safe prospect, extreme work rate and ball winning ability.

But limited upside and the game has trended away from this type of player for many years now if you look at all the data. Even one of the best inside mids in the whole league Tom Green is not even the most important midfielder in his own team now. That would be Finn Callaghan who breaks the games open.
Yeah, I know. But it’s not as if Robey is an athletic freak. Will be interesting to see how his game translates into AFL.
