I'm not sure what the contention is here. It was still pre-ACL form, as stated. With enough of a purple patch prior that clubs could see the talent.

Someone made the point that taking Robey on somewhat limited exposed form in his top end year is not unprecedented (Hotton, Holmes). I was just pondering the differences - namely the fact that those two were picked a little later, moreso than comparing the sample size of respective 'purple patches'.

Robey will go 7-9 this year which is not too far off Hotton in a stronger draft year. Reckon Taj is our first pick or wce second if you put him in this draft with the same sort of 3 game performance.

I’ve said it before on here, but Robey’s ascent is as much due to his performance, size and overall package he offers as it is that no one else has really demanded to be a top 3 pick.

CDTs champs outside a half vs VC was abysmal. He was beaten by Ali in the final they played vs ranges and beat up on an oakleigh defence where he had 10kg and 10cms on his defenders.

XT had an okay champs and nobody mentions his disappearing act in prelim.

Grlj had a disappointing champs and CTL finals, unable to build on his vfl performances.

Cumming averaged 16 and 1 in champs and only topped 20 touches once, hardly outstanding (I reckon he was SA’s 5th best). He also had 1 out of the box senior SANFL game and 2 okay ones.

Farrows best champs games includes about 10 kick outs in his 29 touches. And while he showed some midfield chops, it’s WAFL u/18s and his kicking really dropped off in the midfield.

I’m backing in Cumming’s and Robey as our selections. Maybe it’s a coincidence that Dave Astbury a boy from the Wimmera is presenting the guernsey, and a legend for Richmond who started his career at Essendon is presenting the Mighty Yellow Sash.

Wouldn’t having Astbury presenting the jumper being a fullback just signal that we are picking a Defender ala XT. And then having a half back presenting a guernsey who wore a yellow sash signal ala Grill

Season 2 Love GIF by LoveIslandUSA

Cumming will get number 3 next year when Prestia retires
Smillie probably into 9 if he plays
and Fawcett demoted to 57
I think Cumming should get #9
He has that Kamakazi like attack on the ball

Smillie can stay at #16 until Tigga retires and take the #1
