TBH I wasn’t worried, he played as many games as Hotton did over 2 years. We like upside.

I genuinely think he’s the trade bait as we’d rather Grlj and Farrow together over Robey but if nothing eventuates we take him and probably XT maybe Cumming. If Essendon think Robey is getting through then they have zero incentive to trade.

Hotton had a lot of runs on the board pre-ACL, and still went at 12. Holmes at 20. Robey is a tantalising prospect, but at ~7 would be higher stakes than either of those two.

Last year was arguably the strongest draft of all time. This year is one of the weakest. Farrow is going to go around pick 10 - he wouldn't have gone top 25 last year.

Holmes played ONE Coates game in his bottom-aged year and none in his top. Robey dominated games in a strong senior league, then did it in Coates finals.

You have to look at what they'll be at AFL level. Robey projects as a powerful, goal-kicking mid/forward and a difficult match-up.

But only after his purple patch as a senior. He was barely on the radar going into the year

Taj played Coates as a bottom-ager in 2023, as well as one game for Metro in the Champs, plus the Futures game (played well) so he was clearly very much on the radar.

I'd add Sharp to those 3. All depends if the club reckons Cumming has more upside than Sharp on who I'd take first. on performance Sharp, but Cumming was interrupted this year.
