cumming has way more upside than sharp, the worry with sharp is hes already hit his ceiling.

Maybe. But he kept improving this year.

I see Sharp as a piece in a great midfield, not the core. So, for example, I se Lalor is a central piece, same with Hotton. Sharp compliments them.

But Cumboy looks likely. He has the break the game open highlights that Sharp doesn't.

I'm happy with either. Not so happy with X Taylor or Grilj in comparison.

Weak draft and we are picking at 6&7. Not historically the range for the games best midfielders. In fact pick 6 has been the worst top 10 selection by far.

If we get two 200 game flankers we might be miles ahead of a so-so mid, who it turned out look good by comparison to average opposition.

Sound argument to select X , I'd think.

I still think we slide our second pick back (as far as Melbourne’s second or Essendon’s 3rd) in exchange for a F2.

That doesn't sound very "bend you over" like Blair and Rhy (and West Coast) have made clear. Has to be 3 for 5,9 or no deal. Overs from Essendon, but we're not entertaining it otherwise.

What runs did Hotton have?

He averaged 11 touches in 7 games as a bottom ager? Sure he had 3 30+ games as a top ager but Robey had far greater sample size over final year and higher level games.

Hotton though you have a 3yr sample size.
Robey a 6mth.
Rhys said it for every kid in the Cal interview except when it came to Robey.

We already have Broad replacement in Gray
Vlastuin has 3 more years of footy still in him and will get to 300 games

Even ignoring both Vlastuin and Gray out defence looks like: Miller, Balta, Brown, Banks, Gibcus, Trainor.

The only thing we need in defence is a Short replacement (if Smith isn't it).

Richmond's list going into 2026 might be something like one midfielder who can run (Hotton), a mediocre wing (HRS), one decent small forward (Campbell), no Nank replacement, 7 intercept defenders...

This really stood out to me.
It almost felt like he was preemptively justifying not picking Robey.

Yeah because he played 3 blinders in the early part of his top age year.

That’s effectively what Robey did too, except in finals games, and is touted as a top 4-5 open pool prospect?

Also don’t forget they hype around Robey after the 40 and 3 game. To come out and follow it up over the next 3 games and show it was no fluke is a huge tick to his temperament and performance.

Look at his Peers of this year Vs Hottons peers of last year.
I've always said that i wished Robey played in the champs because then at least you have a guide when up against the best side this year in SA,

I can see that also but would only be for something like an F2

Robey & Cumming is whats in the mock drafts but i think we will end up with Cumming and XT either way and the F2 would be the bonus

F2 is what I had in mind too.

End of day, would you prefer:
Cumming + XT
OR
Cumming + XT + F2 (probably a very, very early F2, too).

A few underlying assumptions, obviously, but I take the second option!

Ngl, I've been watching clips of Cumming all day. Man he's like a mix of Push Up Kings hardness, Dustys strength, Titchs agility and speed and the marking/leaping ability of Jack Riewoldt. Genuinely full package. Really hope he's officially a tiger tonight

No wonder they haven't won anything for 15 years.
