Agree, I think this is the draft we need to hold our recruitment team accountable for if any of the non-academy players after our picks outperform our selections.

Logically, we should be ending up with the best players, so Cumming and Grlj need to be better picks than the likes of Robey, Sharp, Taylor etc. No excuses.

I had my heart set on Robey but I get what we've done.

We are crying out for wingman and Grjl and Cumming are likely to slot in on both wings from round 1.

Robey was similar to Smille and Lalor and maybe his exposed form wasn't enough for us. Personally I reckon the club made up their mind on Grjl after his 1st VFL game for us. Batchelor called him a future star in his post-game interview so reckon we were sold from way back then.

Essendon knew we didn't want him and must have thought melbourne weren't trading up or they weren't too fussed if we did take him.

Well we know now we dont draft best available and we go for needs

Are you a recruiter that watches these kids for 2-4 years?
Clearly you must be given the moaning about what we did. You clearly are better informed and know more about this draft pool than they do.
And you can project what our side is going to look like when we are next in a winning position.
Been to presentations by Blair Hartley a number of times. Trust him Mate, he knows what he’s doing by filling needs over a number of draft and trade periods. He will already have trade targets given the cap space we have been creating.
If you’d been to his presentations, you’d have complete faith in what he’s doing.
We still have 1-2 picks tomorrow so other needs can be filled this year.

It's not, but that's why they're experts. They should theoretically be able to select the best talent at their selection, and that's what they'll be assessed against.

No need for us to panic yet though because it's not like we reached far with any of our picks. I just really hope skipping on Robey/Sharp/Taylor for Grlj wasn't a mistake
