Entire draft, AFL stitched us with Allan compo and we get 7th best kid.

Absolute rort.
That bidding part I agree with and I'll be curious in the future if the club uses this as leverage for assistance in the future.
I think setting us back 12 months is a bit of a stretch though, all the other clubs had to pick from the same pool of players. Only Port Adelaide is going to get a leg up given they chose not to take anyone at all

Yeah true, I'm just very negative and disgruntled atm.

12 months ago, I was on a high, our club used the assets we had the right way to get such a strong draft hand, yet this year AFL just throws picks out as some kind of beggar's relief on the basis that they don't like seeing teams struggle for too long.

"Don't worry about Richmond, they did well in the draft last year". No, we did well because we were bloody smart and worked hard to ensure we maximised our return. AFL tried to stitch us up with Cotchin & Dusty drafts and thank god the other teams with handouts fluffed it.

I feel like this thread drags out too long every year.

We have taken who we have taken. If you still have beef, deal with it.

Well done. A good get and good listen. An extra level of detail on the drafting procsss than Rhy has talked about before. The first time I’ve tuned in.

One thing I would write is for me the most important thing for forwards is kicking goals including accuracy for mine. I am sure Dunstall regularly indicates goal kicking accuracy is underrated, or words to that effect

Competing and so forth is all important but forwards kicking goals lifts the rest of the team and helps others up the ground get reward for getting it up there, in general, I cannot, and in no way am I speaking for RFC players.I have no idea what is on the minds of our RFC players. It is not everything but if six forwards in a forward line each kick 100 goals a season you are hard to beat no matter how those goals are kicked. I understand six forwards each kicking 100 goals a season is Alice in Wonderland stuff, but games are won on a scoreboard so if bigger scores are kicked at one end you are harder to beat and the fans are not to negative about their team kicking higher scores usually. At the same time it is fair to mention it is not fully on the forwards to kick a winning score. Other players in our team helping on the scoreboard is just as important as well, including those stopping a score from our opponents in our defensive half or defending in the forward half to

Sam Cumming, the biggest weapon for me seems to be the length of some of the goals he kicked apart from accuracy, dare I say almost Gulden like. Sam has a lot of other great attributes, and ticks a lot of boxes but some of those goals he kicked in the SANFL I think where he kicked three, and some where from distance, really turned my head and looked possibly clutch to me. Put it this way, I will take Sam C from 55 metres out at the moment, even ahead of Balta from my eye test

I can see Jony Faull play FB to possibly down the track. Just because someone is highly competitive and brings it to ground does not mean they have to play forward. Rance was highly competitive and he did his best work not as a forward

What I liked about all our picks this year is they do not seem shy kicking a goal and seem fairly good kicks in general to my eye, apart from competing well

At the same time, in my book, the most important think for any defender is defending a score. So when X Taylor said words to that effect in one of his interviews it gave me a smile

You missed your calling Magic. Tigers should make you a selector and a recruiter.

This brought me to the point I argued with you about the mock draft discussions with Hicks. He is just another guy with an opinion. He knows nothing more than most of us on here, despite what you think. He had no idea we had our eyes on some SA boys. Our recruiters have far more knowledge than any of the "draft gurus" and self-proclaimed talent experts.
There is nothing wrong with getting opinions, but in the end, as they say in the classics, opinions are like arseholes. Everybody's got one.
Anyway, great interview. Rhy is a great guy, as is Ollie. We are in good hands there. We must remember that recruiting is still an inexact science. Despite all the body of work done, all recruiters can't achieve 100% success with their choices.

And again as I said to you when did I ever say or portray that Cams was any higher valued than anyone else’s?

Answer is never.

As I told you, we even joked about the misses from last year.

No one put his mock up in lights except you.

For me, he was just another mock I was keen to acquire to compare to everyone else’s we had done.

You need to ease up and let it go on that front, you’re just winding yourself up needlessly.

happy to help.

back in the day I send a message to FJ about the benefits of getting Grimes before we got him.

Don't worry, in no way do I think I influenced Francis. I never spoke with Francis, I have never received communication from Francis, not sure how I got a contact reference. back then. I do not think it was a figment of my imagination but Alzheimers could be coming my way and i know it is not something to be joking about. it is just my reality perception as I am aging

I am just happy to provide content which I think helps RFC win more premierships

that is why i write on bigfooty, not to get blow jobs, but to do anything i think helps RFC win premierships because 30plus years was too long, especially for a eight year old in 1980

Do you happen to know where a bloke can go to get blow jobs? it's been a while...

Don't worry, if Francis was umming and ahh-ing about Grimes, your counsel would have given him confidence. But then again, that could be my reality perception as I am ageing as well.

I am just glad we got Grimes and achieved what he achieved even after his initial leg issues.

the happiest part is our premierships, naturally, can't lie about that and Grimes was a part of that

Not wound up at all. Just making the point that I made before. Happy for you to get opinions, but they are just that. They have nothing to do with the actual draft. Anyway, loved the interview.

Very enjoyable Michaels. As the season and draft talk has proceeded, I can honestly say your performances have improved and professionalism reached a very high standard. Keep up the good work.

I think his lack of athleticism was overblown. But he’s never going to be a Dangerfield, explode from the contest type.

I've seen the AFL media push this narrative the last few years. Players who are dying out and it seems to be catching on with the general public. The false narrative that blokes who win the footy consistently are no longer valuable. To push the modern footy, fast paced, high scoring games the AFL want. Don't get sucked in. Clayton Oliver in 2021 was never a high goal kicking mid but absolutely dominated the competition. Cripps has dominated the comp for years without being a prolific goal scorer. Lachie Neale is the same. It's great having a Dustin Martin or a Dangerfield but those are generational talents.
