The thought of Ben Marsh playing in the 98 premiership and then us drafting his son and then Mitchell Marsh being in the side when we win our next premiership is quite special.

Long way to go yet. How many players have projected as very high picks in their underage year only to fall off the pace somewhat in their draft year. This kid may well be no different or maybe he plateau. Time will tell.
With the projected 2026 picks 1 & 2 unavailable in the open draft to all clubs surely that devalues the value of 2026 1st rounders as trading pieces to get up this year's draft?

Will clubs be truly thinking these 2 are locks for picks 1 & 2 next year though. We have seen plenty of players projected to be superstars in their underage year and fail to fire in their U18 year. Not saying these 2 won't be at the very top end, but history might show its not as cut and dried this far out

AFL's answer to a compromised draft system seems to be "F it, let's just compromise it some more"
Another example of the AFL adding layers of complexity when making thing simpler is the way to go.

We don't like the bye before finals, so lets add another 2 games for no reason.

Lose father-son, lose academies, lose compo picks for the first round and let the draft do it's job to equlalisation.

Think this means we are trading that F1

9 or 11 = Sharp/Cumming/Schubert

16 = Barker/Sumner-Pickett

47 = C.Curtin
I could see a reality where the Crows stay put at 16, but trade into the start of the 2nd round as well. Using a F2, and maybe their 2nd 3rd rounder to do it.

It wouldn't at all surprise me if they had a player in that range they are infatuated with.

Christ. Personally I'd be trading out of this draft entirely. Take a few token late picks or whatever we need to

Trading IN to a poor draft, especially with our fixture next year, seems like madness to me

Yeah, I could see a world where we take Thredgold with our 1st, then trade back in with our F2 and maybe F3 or one of our later picks for a midfielder they like that is early 2nd roundish. Then the later pick might be a Curtin or a project ruck?

You’d assume Sharp and Cumming will be gone. Trading a F1 for Schubert is utter insanity.
So is a 1st rounder for a 20 year old unproven small forward with so little exposure to the usual junior pathways IMO. To bring it into focus we got pick 12 in a high class 2017 draft for Charlie Cameron who had done a whole bloody lot more.

2017 draft
Cam Rayner
Andrew Brayshaw
Luke Davies-Unakie
Aaron Naughton
Ed Richards
Zac Bailey
Darcy Fogarty
Tom De Koning
Brandon Starcevich
Jack Higgins
Oscar Allen

etc etc

Maybe we should opt for the tried and true strategy of picking a Victorian player instead of all these SA kids
I think the other way. If as you say this draft may be a crapshoot for a variety of reasons, then maybe its the one to go all in on the SA kids. They did win the nationals and they are local so no go home factor. If they don;t work out, then so be it and there is as much chance an interstate kid does not work out so its nothing lost. If however one or 2 DO make it from the ones we have drafted, its a great long term benefit for the club

Was the game v centrals his highlight game

It's only snippets of his game, but seemed to fumble a lot, and while he has good lateral movement, did get caught most of the time. A couple of late Joe the goose in the second half in a team which won convincingly.

What are the latest whispers about where Sam Cumming gets drafted?

He'd be the one worth moving up for based on the couple of highlight reel snippets I've researched

Agree, and no problem with that result.

Thredgold

Onley

Taj Murray

That was easy! & retain our F1
