No one rated Conca. How pulled him out that high in the draft is still a mystery. He never looked worth a first his entire career. An all time howler and probably worse than Tambling.
trying to avoid another howler here!!!!

try and explain how other clubs let RFC get Bolton in the twenties???

saying they did not know is BS pre-draft

I know enough independents to rate Bolton pre-draft to the point he should never have got where he did

No matter how hard I try and talk myself into Xavier Taylor- I can’t.

Not only do we not need that type of player (Trainor/ Brown/ Gibcus/ Banks).. but I genuinely just don’t see him as a top prospect.

A lot of his possessions are short lateral marks/ kicks.. he looks rattled with the ball under pressure (often panics and gets rid of it prematurely or gets caught) .. and his kick is hardly damaging.

I don’t see one elite trait of him.

Using pick 3 or 4 on him would be an absolute travesty.

Would love to split if it meant we can get two of Grlj/ Sharp/ Robey + Dovaston with a later pick.

If not- Grlj & one of Sharp or Robey for me.

This is my take.

for whatever reason if we get two South Australians it causes others problems.

I rate Cummings the best SA prospect and I think he could be an all timer, best of the draft potentially. and if we got Sharp next okay, Sharp is not bad coming at two, Larke medal and everything else, I can handle Sharp as a default second pick lol, if he gets to us.

but others have a problem?? like what the fu????

it is like how the hell Fiora was ever picked before Pavlich?? do not like South Australians??

then there is Robey. Was not mean't to be came from the clouds.picks and positions lining up and Robey comes into draft top end calculations from nowhere to upset some establishment

I think some do not want Robey because if we get Robey he might show others we have on our list up. You know what, I do not care. I want premierships, and I want teammates playing together and trying to be the best and achieving the ultimate success as a team. What is wrong with that??? Robey has versatility he can play a few different roles and help others out, who gives a toss?? successful teams are supposed to adjust and play with other team-mates together including better ones and work towards common goals making the other teammates even better, What is wrong with that?? we have no great wingman, Robey can play wing, bingo he has a default position

why do we have to entertain lessor types??? to entertain some other powerful body??? makes no sense to me

Essendon smells weakness and wants to go up and others want to bend over like European country buying USA gas at higher prices

this is the sort of crap that has been going on for years and it took a upstart like Dusty to break the mould and become a freak in beast mode in finals to turn everything else on its head

he is a twig compared to Cotchin, lol Cotch was far more polished and robust

I reckon you can get Grij at 21 in the draft

Grij stretches out in his stride getting speed but less balance and composure, lol

Jeez you dribble some absolute garbage sometimes Magic lol

I will die on the hill that Tambling was the right pick, but our player development at the time was putrid.

With Conca, FJ thought he could be an inside/ outside midfielder that underperformed in the champs playing in a midfield that had the two best midfield prospects (David Swallow and Harley Bennell who also went 1 & 2).

The logic was there. But the logic was also very very wrong.

I went over the GC picks. 7, 8, 15, 18, 36, 52, 70, 74

If im doing this wrong happy to stand corrected.

Let's say GC hand over 8 and 18 for Petracca
Leaving them with 7, 15, 36, 52, 70, 74

Eagles bid on Uwland at pick 2 and matched by GC, Pick 3 (2178) minus 10% = 1960 points needed. Will need to use pick 7, 1543 points + pick 15, 973 minus 10% = 876
1543 + 876 = 2419

Credit of 459 points
Pick 36 = 317 points
Pick 52 = 42
Total points = 818

If we bid on Patterson with Pick 4, 1962 points minus 10% = 1766 points needed
So the shortfall is 948

They won't go into deficit for that amount. Equivalent to pick 16

We could be in with a chance ;)

The Suns also have academy Beau Addinsal, and Cal Twomey has rated him around mid 20s.

I haven't included other players that might leave, which will net GC points that would go towards Patterson.
Also, we may do a deal with GC where we benefit from some of their picks and dont bid on Patterson.

You’re needing the Eagles to back to back bid for the bid for Patterson to be pick three though

If they bid at two and it’s matched then pick three becomes their next pick and we’ve got pick four to bid with

Agree - Taylor is the most over rated top 10 candidate in years

Not only that, Buddy had question marks over his attitude and I remember Weaver saying of his carnival "Buddy looked like a superhero who had lost his powers".

Pre-draft they were calling it the "Brett Deledio Cup" and there was word out of the NT that Tambling might be the best ever player to come out of the territory.

Epic mistake but hey, Footscray and Hawthorn also passed over him when they had the chance.

From the footage, I like Robey and Cumming the most. Then Grill, but (as I have said before), he looks more like a back flanker and I don't think you need to spend pick 3 or 4 on a back flanker.

But I am not a recruiter who's been watching all these kids for years.

Nor for that matter are the guys on the WC and Essendon boards who seem to be tying themselves in knots to not draft CDT.

Worst case for us, we have to choose between CDT, Sharp and Cumming. And if the cards fall that way, it's just bad luck and still a pretty good place to be for bringing two gun kids into our club.

Correct, I didn't take that into account, thanks. I edited my post to reflect all this, including the points difference. Instead of a pick 3 bid, it will be a pick 4 bid by us.

yes a 200cm wingman would be..........nuclear

What man.. you just criticised someone for being skinny. Bolton was even smaller in his draft year.

very good point!!!:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

I don't think we really need X Taylor right now either although he would be a nice to have but so would a lot of other players in a heap of picks in other drafts including future drafts
