I just think they have some very good kids like Caddy, Kako, Roberts, and I even rate Zak Johnson, and then some of their younger players like Durham, Martin, Caldwell, Reid are also very good.

Robey's second talent league game was much like his first, playing high half forward and impacting with his long leads up through the middle of the ground and the wings to offer an option in transition, and using his physicality to impact in contested situations. Worth mentioning is how clean/soft his hands are in marking contests, able to securely one grab on a lead at pace or through contact. As always, he hit the scoreboard with a couple of goals and was heavily involved in scoring chains for Eastern in a strong win.

Putting on my Magic cap, all i saw in that clip was a guy so slow that he never took more than 3 steps, missed kicks, dropped marks, missed targets and a dribble kick goal that looked like he miskicked it. He took one nice mark on a wing and hit 1 target but then showed us he is also undisciplined giving away 50 metres. His favourite kick is the wobbler.

The guy looked like he was on another universe playing with the pretty stars, with pretty colours. Reckon there was a few unicorns and baby elephants running around with him as well. That's how far away he is from making it. I'm not here to pander to the masses, I want players that win premierships at Richmond.

Sims is a better mark. CDT a lot quicker and mobile.

If we end up with CDT at 3 because someone nabs Robey at 2 I'd be wrapt. He is a Unicorn and we need a developing ruckman badly. Ryan is a complete bust and shouldn't even be on the list anymore.

The other scenario is that if CDT is still there at 3 clubs are gonna come hard and we are likely to get offers of a later 1st rounder plus a F1. That sort of offer could be too good to pass up.

Almost as bad as Clarke and Hartley butchering our legacy list within a few years by picking duds like RCD, Ross, Dow, Sonsie and Gibcus (instead of NWM), giving Geesook the pick they used on Max Holmes and trading in Hopper for the pick that became Dan Curtain.

No way Bummers are trading their F1. Its odds on to be pick 1. The Board will block it even if Rosa is stupid enough to contemplate it.

Isn't the whole issue with essendon that half the board think they are rebuilding and the other half think they should be playing finals?
Honestly I could see them trading next yrs first (probably only for pick 1 though)

Yeah I’ve got no idea what Melbourne’s strategy will be but they have holes everywhere so go best available and take the big man early in the rebuild like Richmond has done. They will probably take a KPD with the pick they got from
Freo for McVee.

With Gawn almost cooked and the success they had with Jackson, if Demons get pick-2 I can’t see a world where they take Robey over CDT. If they did Tigers would take CDT and Sharp and be doing cartwheels.

Yeah it depends on how split the board are and if they keep merrett. With merrett I dont think they are finishing last and probably going to do as much as possible to move up the ladder.

Yeah, Essendon has NFI. Merrett is 30yo and wants out. You'd package him up in a heart beat. Essendon aren't winning a flag while he is still playing yet holding firm because he is their best player. Says a lot really.

We let Rioli, Bolton, Baker go last year and it was the best thing we could do.

Yeah completely agree, that's why if they trade next yrs first it wouldn't surprise me at all.

We’re all obsessed with Robey and I do also want him, but let’s remember we already got Smillie, who was a potential pick 1. He’s a 196cm midfield beast. Wait till he’s AFL ready, we’ll be frothing.

I want Robey but we also need a gun ruck, so if we end up with CDT I’ll be happy.

What I don’t want is to trade down for Essendon, they have enough gun talent on their list and I don’t think their future pick will be very good.

Robey wasn’t a mid who rests forward ala Petracca, or a third tall ala Gunston or a powerful mid sized forward like Rayner, Robey was legitimately the best KPF/CHF in CTL in back half of year (ignoring 2027 draftee and actual man mountain Jake Miller).

The 2 vids noob put up of his first 2 CTL games show his exceptional ability to get up the ground and provide his mids and backs a target.

when I first mentioned him to tigs2010 it wasn’t drafting Robey as a mid, but a dangerous forward in the Logan Morris mould (and hoping to get him as a rookie with Oskar ). And it’s kind of crazy how quickly he managed to connect with ranges backs and mids, he’s forward smarts are brilliant. The mid stuff in finals is just gravy.

Smil is far more pure mid who can rest forward and take advantage of mismatches and use his superior footy iq to out point defenders. He’s much more Sharp than Robey.

CDT’s combine testing was elite for a big guy, he’s got no ceiling, I’m happy with him at 3 and splitting 4, taking a mid or a Jevan Philipou

North traded their F1 last year for 2 picks in the 20s ... I don't think you get a bigger blunder than that

I will give you RCD... and Dow and Sonsie would have to do something special next year to be following him out the door but too early on Gibcus and Ross was a pick in the 40s so that is actually a success story

Delisting Stengle and taking Aarts in his place from our VFL has to be the biggest fail of our list management though.
