What have we got left with Sonsie signed & Dow delisted. 4 main list & 1 rookie?
2-4 main list, 1-3 cat A rookie, 1 cat B rookie

Seems like the plan is to use 3 national draft picks + a 4th on Kellaway if he gets a bid.

Then pick 2 rookie draft or train on for the last spot.

Happy with that. Good result.

They've loved the train-on in recent years, but I think we do some of our best work taking a punt on a small in the rookie draft.

Train-on should be reserved more for sussing out blokes with question marks on character.

I think an offer too good to refuse would change their ranking due to where the picks fall is the main thing
But also believe there will be a lot of interviewing and research being done on their main targets now just to make sure if they have 2-3 players that are almost level in the rankings. But the majority of the work would be done

* Players around the #25-#35 range would now be getting scrutinized deeper as that was not a pick we were expecting to have
I dont think the offer changes the draft order, more the strategy we take into the draft.

Grlj really isn't that bad a player, not sure why you seem to think he is but hey your untitled to your opinion.

Maybe pick 4 is a reach for him but reckon if we were to slide back a few spots and got an extra pick he would be on our radar.
I would be stunned you could not get him in the teens if not lower.

I am stunned how the other players are rated that bad by others

I do not believe people in Essendon and Melbourne are buying it, I reckon they will not pick him and would be stunned if they did

Xavier Taylor a big richmond supporter according to the Herald Sun.

Lets pick him.

Need some more boys in the club that love richmond. Should have picked murpyy reid and harvey langford

Watching some film, Taylor and Grjl probably for me
Not thrilled with this, however if this is the path we are going down, need to be good enough to get pick 38 into the top dozen or so picks by trading one of our those early firsts back to essendon in order to move that pick 38 up

The idea that WC don't choose CDT, and Essendon offer 5 & 15 to us for pick 3?
Picks 4-5 still get us 2 out of Robey, Cummings, XTaylor, Grllj, Sharp - minus whoever WC took.

Pick 15......worst case is that the following 14 players are gone, 2 of them being ours
Duursma,
Robey
CDT
Sharp
XTaylor
Cumming
Grlj
Schubert (Demons surely take at 7 or 8?)
O Taylor
Farrow
Dovaston
Lindsay
Greaves
Barker

Still leaves Mitch Marsh, Phillipou, NHH, LeRay, or a choice of a slider or 2 from the list above.
If we are much more interested in Robey & Grlj than CDT then this seems a simple decision.
Would then need to decide if we try and switch pick 38 into next year or whether it's bad luck for Kellaway, assuming we have only 4 spots?

All that article tells me is Eagles really don't want CDT at pick 2 and Essendon must believe we will take him if Eagles don't.

Pick 5 or 6 plus a F1 is massive overkill. Essendon should wait and if CDT is available after pick 2 (why would Eagles actually pick him if they want to trade down) then come to us for pick 3. It might cost them less than what's been mentioned.

Essendon moving up still is a massive win for us, takes CDT off the table and takes the pick away from Eagles ahead of us to get the next best midfielder.

Essendon must also believe we aren't taking both Taylor & Grlj otherwise why would they bother trading up
If there's a belief that pick is 'up for grabs', Bombers won't risk sitting back and having someone else take that pick and CDT if Bombers are super keen.

All good, if they want CDT that bad then go for it, makes our decision easier and takes a pick away from the eagles ahead of us to have 1st crack at the mids.

However, Eagles wanting pick 5 or 6 and a F1 is overs IMO, Essendon are nuts if they agree to that considering they only want to offer 5 or 6 & 15 to West Coast which is more reasonable.

the only people fascinated with Grlj seem to one those who love run and handball watching his full year supposed highlights. Gerard Healy would love Grlj probably

it is not like he handballs like Greg Williams either
Looks like a line breaker in the Bailey Smith/ Holmes mould. What's not to like?

Imagine the outcry on here if we select CDT and Sharp with our picks 😂

We would want to take our preferred pick at 3 leaving CDT on the board, if the Bombers offer an unreal deal to trade up to pick 4 we then take it, if not we take CDT anyway.

With you on this…sharp seems a bit unpopular on this board

Reckon we go with Sharp and Robey….great outcome IMO

I'm with you here, just lock in the guts of our midfield for the next 10 years.

Allows us so much flexibility with what we do next year, there will be far better offers to trade back next year if we want to target needs, or if there's a gun at our pick in any position we can take them.

Seriously?
I’ll spell it out.
He’s a skinny young kid that will build his body as he matures. Do you even remember Shedda and his physique when he was drafted?
shedda was not a top 5 pick

who is our Dusty???, who is our Rance???

we need a guy that can win 3 norm smiths???

are you saying there is not a player that can win three norm smiths???? do we need better other players???

are we trying to win premierships or not???

do you understand we did not win a premiership between 1980 and 2017 partly because the players where not good enough???

do you think we should just pick iffy players and luck will be on our side and they will just improve and we will get there and win????

do you think we are better throwing darts at a dart board??

Another way of looking at this is Richmond has not won a premiership since 1980 without having a player that won a Norm Smith on the day and having won three Norm Smiths over his journey. Does this mean for Richmond to win our next premiership we must have to find a guy that can win three Norm Smiths otherwise we cannot win a premiership???
Or do we do something different and identify talent better??
