I must admit I dont spend too much time on our own board generally, however I have taken a particular interest in this thread as im quite interested in the draft this year and last for obvious reasons. I notice lots of negativity about this Mr magic and I've never taken too much notice to wonder why. I now finally understand, some of his posts in this thread... wow.
Like a train wreck but I cant look away...fascinating stuff.
Please Mr Magic... tell us more...
You've really done it now.

With the delisting of Dow, I’m feeling we are opening up an inside mid position for Sharp. Added to that we have the likely retirement of Prestia next year. We also need to acknowledge the age profile of Hopper and Taranto in relation to our next premiership window. Finally, we have a history of selecting midfielders with low picks.
Bloody hope so, we must take Sharp if he’s available

no you wrote that, I did not say it.

Do you realise Dimma has never won a premiership as head coach without Dusty?

what do you think I am trying to write???

could it be RFC where never going to win without a Dusty coming along because we simply could not identify talent well enough in the drafts and had to rely on a freak like Dusty to give us a massive leg up?

do you realise apart from the Dusty premierships RFC has never won a day time premiership in the AFL/VFL since the inception of the draft? I am not making this up, it is the truth/facts. What do you think that means?? I am not at the club, I and not pointing people out I am just writing those are the facts, nothing personal, no relationship inquiry here, I am well outside although a supporter, do you think there is a reason behind it?

here are some more facts Apart from Salmon and Fletcher, two freaks that where tall Essendon won premierships with one of the greatest ruckman in footy history in Simon Madden. So if Essendon are chasing CDT do you think they are clueless?

When Richmond won in the 1970's 80 we had a good ruckman in the General, Mark Lee. we had good talls, Nankervis is no scrub I do not think

this is part of our history DNA. Are there reasons why this is so? Can improvements be made??? can we be better??? can we help ourselves improve what we do to help us win more premierships??? do we want to win more premierships??? I want to win more premierships, do you want to win more premierships???
It means the Richmond football was a basket case from 1982 until 2009. And those are facts! The war with Collingwood in the 80s sent the club broke, the save our skins campaign saved the club from disappearing but didn't advance the club forward. We were still poor, which meant we could afford, the scouts, recruiters, staff, facilities, players etc that the other clubs had. Thats very well documented how under resourced we were due to a lack of money and a huge debt. 2009 comes and enter Benny and Peggy. You can go on about Dusty all you like, but the FACTS are that without those two (and obviously others as well), we would never have won the 3 flags! Plain and simple. They cleared debt, better resourced the club in all departments and put us on the path to a dynasty. If what they did doesn't happen we'd be just like North, Carlton and Essendon.

what train wreck do you speak of???

RFC was a train wreck until Dusty and a few others came along, or was it?? I mean I grew up following RFC on the TV.

Do you have a fascination with train wrecks??

Do you prefer kum bah yah???

After seeing RFC finally succeed after I joined Bigfooty and how things have developed since their premierships the supporter vibe in Melbourne is quite a eye opener I must say from online, albeit many online posters are not in Melbourne.

I cannot comment too much as never lived in Melbourne let alone Punt Road but it has been a eye opener but quick to draw not too many conclusions

If I was a teenager one would get lost in the maze but given my vintage and putting some pieces together is the puzzle starting to appear?? we shall see

am I more passionate about RFC because I grew up around others where they where not RFC supporters and had mostly other interests? possibly

If something is not on the tracks there can be no train wreck, no??? what tracks are you on if on any??
What the actual? Dude, go to bed!

agree, took a few including Dusty.

why go to war with the Pies though??? I know different times but did egos get in the way?

when Gale made the case to start with a vision, Dusty doing his thing along with the rest of the teams and Peggy saying to Dimma why not try and win again in 2020 it is about a few caring and showing leadership to enable great things.

without leading and aiming high, nothing happens

it is easy to go to war, especially getting others to do the fighting.

It is harder to all the sleeves up and aim high in the draft and develop the youngsters to enable them to be great, that takes leadership and will and drive and maybe with have these attributes now

Ok I apologize it’s taken this long but after reviewing the tapes I’ve now decided on who best fits our needs
Forget oby one 2 roby not quick enough to offer anything we don’t have
Sam cumming is our man , originally from wentworth a couple of years ago too . Quick tough and finds the footy , we have nil of the dash he offers ,,, get him
With next pic , xav taylor . Reads the game like the back of his hand and has those hands that just go clunkkkkkkkkk. A must get big game player
Kellaway is a lock
And best fit with the rest

D o n t get funny like last year and go past the likes of Murphy Reid , Langford and Shanahan

Pic these guys and it’s not when it’s how many

Get to work giesch

When you are selecting in the top 5 you need to be sure he makes that grade

"Grlj took some time after his VFL experience to reflect on his year — and acknowledged he was “overthinking” parts of the game. I had a week off in between my Richmond VFL and my last Metro game, and I think I reflected on why I wasn’t playing as well as I did at the start of the year.

And when we came down to how I was going through the games, I was probably just overthinking a little bit
Because I think, for me, I’m playing my best footy when I’m not thinking — and it sounds really silly, but that (playing on instinct) was what I tried to get back to and just controlling what I could control.

Grlj said that struggle “definitely” presented during crucial Metro carnival games, adding: “You can put a lot of pressure on yourself because it is the biggest stage and everyone wants to play well. That’s why I didn’t get the best out of myself — just too much pressure, I guess.”

Sounds a bit like Tambling talking

This gives me the heeby jeebies for picking Grlj now.

Does he think there will be more or less pressure to perform at AFL level. More to think about and less playing on instinct.

Feels like the reason why you can see players have promising rookie seasons but then fizzle into nothingness.

Maybe it's nothing. But what if it's something that holds him back from reaching his potential....

It sure does

Players that play out games in their heads before during or after games scare me and i wouldnt touch them with a top 5 selection.

Oh did i mention today Tobey Sharp and Cumming today ;)
What a load of codswallop!

Fancy saying that a kid should be overlooked because he identified a 'mindfulness' flaw in his approach to games and then came up with the solution to improve. Isn't that exactly what you want?

I would suggest that all players, particularly young and developing ones, play out games in their heads after a game has finished. In fact, they sit down and review those games with coaches.

Emma Murray's program proved to be a massive help to senior players and what a young 17/18yo developing player has correctly identified. There's no doubt that Cotch took some of those learnings to the Lions over the last 2 years.

We don't want to end up like GWS being hamstrung for list spots next year.
I don't think this will be an issue.

Broad, Prestia and probably Lynch will retire + the likes of Sonsie, Smith, Green, Clarke, Trezise, Fawcett and Lefau are probably in trouble if they don't cement a position in the side.

Next year is looking like another big turnover of players for us.

So you’re unhappy with the way we selected last year? If you are, you’re hard to please imo.
Firstly, unless we took him at pick 1, we couldn’t select Langford. So Langford over Lalor? Nup for me
With Reid, take him before Smillie, Hotton and Faull? At the time, I wouldn’t and still wouldn’t. Smillie will prove to be an outstanding midfielder imo (& don’t we need one of them!! & why we must take Sharp this year too if he’s available), Hotton looks amazing and Faull our number 1 key forward along with Armstrong for 10+ years. Reid had a great year but will he be a mid? Not sure but he’s a good player without doubt.
Finally, Shanahan. Take him before Armstrong and Trainor? No way I’d swap either of those two for Shanahan. Sims potentially but even then, Sims can play ruck and has great hands in marking contests. He’s a wait and see for me but he’s got a tonne of potential.
In my opinion, we drafted extremely well last year selecting a wide range of different types and at this stage, I wouldn’t change what we did. I don’t think we “got funny” at all.

We won't get rid of all them, plus we have Leys, Daffy, Armstrong and Clark tied to us next year.

Should trade pick 38 into a stronger draft, that will be a win. It also gives the list more flexibility by having one less senior listed player.

I d take all our picks, maybe one is a mature prospect.
The list is young and a number of them coming of injury riddled 2025 seasons. It’s a long season we need the depth

We can get a mature player as a rookie, should upgrade our 2nd rounder for draft capital next year.
