If these 2 are available to us then just take them. That’s a very good analogy…..CDT & Robey![]()
Most likely Dursma and Sharp gone. That would be fantastic.

I disagree. He is no guarantee to be drafted. A club isn’t going to use a second rounder on him to make us pay up as there is a real risk that we would not match.Everyone saying we wont use 38 on Duncan son , but if we bid on other clubs players they will make us use it no doubt
Stop underselling Reid. He’s more than a role player. Why can’t Reid be the number 1 in a midfield? Showed more in his first year than any other draftee. I don’t mind our draftees(Smillie etc) being supported but this crap of saying long term Reid will not be a gun is garbage. If we had drafted him Richmond supporters would be proclaiming him as the best, rightly or wrongly.I don’t mind Cumming as an option.
Who knows at this stage, Smillie may never fire. But he has the potential and attributes to be the #1 guy in a midfield. Reid is a good, classy role playing type but he will never be that guy.
After rnd 1.Reid had a really good first year. But Smillie has a much higher ceiling. If you’re going to do a Harry hindsight draft review, at least give it a couple of seasons!

Yeah I see him as a key fwd who needs significant improvement marking the ball, who may be able to help in the ruck every now and thenI keep seeing these comparisons for CDT but the one I see most is Buddy. He's tall, quick, good at ground level and appears to have a good footy brain. Not so good in the air. Not sure he's a ruckman. I'd be reluctant to pass on CDT. He probably has the highest ceiling of anyone in the draft.
I can't see wce doing that trade if sharp or robey aren't on the boardI wouldn’t be surprised if Essendon traded picks 5 & 6 to West Coast and receive from West Coast picks 2 & 13. The trade is maybe weighted in West Coasts favour, but it delivers Essendon pick 2 and CDT while still holding another 2 picks in the first round. Under this scenario, it protects our picks and ensures we go home with Sharp & Cumming.
I still think for WCE this draft is the most important draft they are going to have. If they pick wrong the players in can see it putting them back close to another decade.
If they take Dursma and CDT both players have high reward but a rather high level of risk, im not sold CDT will have enough impact the first couple yrs and Dursma will likely take 2-3 seasons before he has good impact. I can't see how they can be competitive enough under this scenario to keep Harley Reid in 3yrs time and if that's the case I could see Dursma leaving soon after (his contract will be up the same time). For that reason I think WCE have to go Sharp with pick 2 no matter what, that should atleast help in the short term with onfield performance. The more i thing about it I'd seriously consider 5 6 for pick 1 and take Sharp at 2 if I was them. Gives them sharp then atleast 2 of CDT Robey Cumming Grlj Taylor and then there teens pick to help build out other positions. I dont think they have the guts to do it as such this is probably convoluted way of saying i think Sharp and Dursma will probably be off the board. Which will leave CDT Robey as options at 3 4 for us.
Yep, the crackdown on the stupid stand rule demands this, as well as speed and overlap run.I’ve said it before but will repeat it.
If they aren’t an elite kick we should not even entertain them. With pick 3 and 4 it’s crucial they can dispose of the ball properly.
On the draft night thread you pegged FOS, Tauru, Allan, Berry, Shanahan, Alger with our top 6 picks.Yep Blair butchered it. I would have landed a much better haul
Reid has shown he’ll be a very good player, and using the phrase “role player” probably doesn’t convey what I mean. I see him being the Nigel Lappin to someone’s Voss and Black. No hate, Lappin was a gun, but he wasn’t the #1 man. End of the day, that’s just my opinion and projection on the type of player he’ll be over his career.Stop underselling Reid. It's his first year. Is he going to improve each year or will he end up like Rhys Palmer, Stephenson or Lewis Taylor? Interesting that most of the Rising Starts have gone onto to be stars except half forward flankers.Stop underselling Reid. He’s more than a role player. Why can’t Reid be the number 1 in a midfield? There’s no way CDT gets past pick 2If WC go Duursma and Sharp leaving us Robey and CDT I think we just take then and move on.
I swapped out Allen for Reid. What a haul that would have been.On the draft night thread you pegged FOS, Tauru, Allan, Berry, Shanahan, Alger with our top 6 picks.
Still prefer Lalor over FOS but FOS has been good.
Tauru has the points over Smillie but like XT this year I’d spew if we spent a high pick on a third defender.
Faull over Allan, well Jonty has been very good in his first year. Allan unsighted, but projects as a straight line long kicking half backer with iffy disposal.
Taj over Berry, well I’d take Taj.
Trainors been good but Shanahan looks a very good prospect for the Eagles.
Alger over Armstrong would have been interesting. You’d have ponied up a first rounder for Jasper where Blair got him for a future forth and took Armstrong with that pick.
I’m preferring Blair’s haul to be honest.
