Reckon we could safely upload a Josh Lindsay welcome video if we want him.

Pick deficit is the same round. I.e a pick in the 2nd round only impacts your future 2nd not 1st.

Of course this year every chance Murray/Addinsal get bid on at say 27 which will be a first round pick 🤣
Are you sure about this? Pretty sure that the deficit impacts a teams R1 pick first, then if still not covered then flows on to the next pick and so on until the deficit is covered.

Having a loophole that could see a side fall 1167 points into deficit due to matching multiple bids but not lose their R1 pick because they matched 2 bids in the 2nd round to go into that deficit would defeat the purpose of tightening up the points value.

The deficit that they can accumulate is directly tied to the 2026 picks that they currently have which are 2 x 2nd's and 2 x 3rd's. So the maximum they can go into deficit is 667pts.

*Edit.......the value of those picks are calculated as end of 2nd round (2 x 36) and end of 3rd round (2 x 54)
Thanks heaps!

So if Uwland is bid on at 2 and we bid at 3 or 4 on Patterson suns would need to trade in other picks or risk not being able to match ?

Now that teams can trade Future/Future picks would this also be allowed when matching bids? Not that you'd like to see your club wipe 2 years' worth of future 1st round picks out i guess lol

Im going off a Brissy fan pick expert on draft forum. But yes, as I understand it you take from later picks (ie you can take a future 3rd to pay for a 2nd round bid but not a 1st rounder) but not earlier ones.

i think you’d just wouldn’t be able to take the 2nd player in that case if you need points next year you don’t have. Or maybe the afl lets a club choose to impact their 1st in that situation.

Same but im swayed as whether it's for one of our high picks or from a trade down.
Might be able to leverage Cumming's popularity to get a deal done, 4-7 are much of a muchness for mine.

If WCE bid on Uwland at 2 and the Suns match, the WCE would take their 2 picks meaning the earliest we could bid on Patterson would be pick 4.

A bid at 2 would cost 2133pts (after 10% discount) chewing up 15, 18 & 24 would move back to 37. Picks 28, 29 & 36 would move in 2 spots each and become 26, 27 & 34 as well as 37 becoming 35.

A bid at 4 would cost 1766pts chewing up 26, 27, 34 & 37 with 52 coming in 5 spots to pick 47

At this stage they would have 118pts from pick 47 as well as access to 667pts deficit, so 785pts in total which would be enough to cover a bid on another player from pick 17 onwards.

It's pretty likely that they will trade 15 to the Bumbers for 2 of their 2nd round picks and gain another 300pts in value. This move was flagged by the Suns by delisting Stringer and Stone giving them enough list spots to do a trade pre draft.

Bonus for us is that pick 38 will move in by 5 or more spots depending on where bids come for Annabelle and Dean.

Stringer and Stone played for giants not suns

What does it end up as an open pool pick. Seen some ratings where there is a crazy number of club tied players before us which would see us picking at like 42 but ultimately no different to picking at 33 with 9 less bids lol
I read somewhere our #38 would end up something like 28/29th best available player in the open pool of players

Phillipou doesn’t lack confidence ….. but I wonder if it’s all just an act? Would really love to grill him with certain psychological questions to pick his brain and see if I can expose any weaknesses about him
Give us a few of your hard arse questions
Let's see how we go

Why would we bid at 4, what are we getting to do that and if we are getting anything we don't bid???

What about the best mid in the draft supposedly going to the Lions?

IZf west coast getting pick 15 are we getting pick 18?

what are we getting from CFC?

Yep. Think it can get down to 26 or 27 potentially. Need Annable to be bid on early and someone to trade up with GC so multiple picks go instead of 15.

Whether our pick is 33 or 43 (depending how many bids actually come) the open pool one is the relevant one for us. Would **** us getting Jai Murray though as GC can just match if we are at 43 😒
