Hey guys, I’ve got some good links inside the club and got some pretty strong intel today..

Our hope is that WC take Dursma and CDT or Robey because we will be taking Sharp and Cumming at 3 & 4. We will take Sharp of the board with pick 3 immediately and then try to turn pick 4 into pick 5 with a trade with Essendon for them to take either CDT or Robey whoever the eagles don’t take. Our aim is to get a future 2nd and Essendons pick to help with our academy stuff next year.

We will then add Kellaway as a 3rd SA boy either with our final pick or by matching a late bid and we already have a deal in place with a club for a 2027 3rd or 4th rounder if we need any points to match the bid (but the club doesn’t expect this to be required as it’s likely in this draft Kellaway slides to rookie selection if we don’t take him)

Anyway my sources are always pretty good (check my history, I broke the news on the Bolton deal last season). Take it for what it is worth and obviously a bit of time for things to change but that’s what I know so far. (Also if u watch Gettable last week, Robey says tigers were the last team to show interest and my understanding is with Lalor and Smillie we don’t think he fits our list)
Lads I checked his post history and his previous calls look informed and mostly legit. Not 100% but high accuracy.

I think we have to consider the above being legit. Sharp and Cumming to Richmond.

Hey guys, I’ve got some good links inside the club and got some pretty strong intel today.

Firstly the club was really keen on Mal Rosas Jnr. He was actually really keen on us too. The club organised for him to go to dinner with MRJ and during the evening 6-7 times fans stopped and asked MRJ for a photo. Rosas asked MRJ if that’s normal and MRJ said as a Richmond player it happens all day every day. Rosas is introverted and quiet and said he didn’t know if he could handle that environment because it’s literally never happened on the Gold Coast and decided the anonymity of Sydney was going to be better for him, hence the decision to choose them.

We are very interested in a crop of Indigenous boys. We sent the KGI team to WA a couple of months ago to meet and spend time with them and we love a kid called Pickett. I expect he will be taken with whatever pick 38 ends up being. We are certain to use that pick on an Indigenous kid and will probably bid on some of the west coast academy players here if they haven’t been selected yet but Pickett is the kid we want.

The club loved what we did bringing players that had played together in last year and particularly the bond it has created amongst the kids at the club.

The plan is replicate that again this year but this time it will be with a batch of boys from SA.

Much Thanks. If this happens it would be brilliant. It makes perfect sense. Added to your comments, we’ve recruited Jack Madgen who has been based in Adelaide, to coach our VFL program.

In a recent interview, Gieschen also made reference to the amount of contact he’s been in with Cousen’s who we know has responsibility for both WA and SA zones.

It also partly explains or justifies the delisting of Dow. Notwithstanding, that he’d been on the list for 6 years, drafting potential 3 midfielders and Smillie who will all need exposure at VFL level to the role, means Dow could have been a hindrance to their development. I’m assuming Dow isn’t best 23 and would only be selected to play AFL, if we had injuries.

Finally, reinforcing the point that we like to build connections, we recruited Taj’s brother into our VFL program.

Somewhat dissapointed if we are overlooking Robey given the hype however I’m more than comfortable backing in whoever Blair, Rhy and co think are the best options. Pretty sure they have watched a little more than 15 mins of highlights on each player.

Pretty happy to bring in Sharp either way. Just looks a leader

I love this. Even if it doesn’t end up the case it just shows with where our picks are we can’t go wrong whether it’s:

Sharp and Cumming
Robey and Taylor

Or we get one of those 4 with CDT or Grlj.

Any of those scenarios are exciting I believe.

he also said we loved fos than a week later we hated fos. Was also certain 6+11 for 2.

But yeah highly accurate. 🙄

It will be extremely disappointing if we take either Taylor or Grlj at pick 3.
Regardless of the action prior to our pick. If we don’t take CDT or Robey then our recruiting staff need looking at.
I am pretty confident we are taking Robey regardless in less Eagles take him.
He is a similar talent to Lalor maybe not as skilled in terms of kicking & ball handling skills but he has the other attributes.

Thanks for the insight.

I find the last line interesting. We don't think Robey fits our list.

If that's actually true, I'm concerned. We are nowhere near drafting for need over talent. I love Cumming and Sharp but Robey has Danger like match winning ability, you csn never have too many of those types in your team.

Wrapped about the fact we are into Kickett. He's electric and classy.

DRAFT HAND – 9, 11, 43, 54, 67, 72

Carlton has talked a lot about flexibility. Losing the future first round pick last year as part of the Jagga Smith deal has been turned around really quickly with the Silvagni and De Koning compensation picks, and then of course the Curnow deal.

Carlton has had a really big focus on getting picks in to give them a lot of flexibility with Harry Dean coming through and Cody Walker next year, two potential father-son draftees, as well as Jack Ison, from the club academy.

Every time you look, Dean is going up the draft order. By all reports, he could go anywhere between two and six in the draft, which leaves Carlton having to use one of those early picks on him.

The flexibility of having two picks, nine and 11, gives them the option of potentially sliding one of those picks back and getting a future pick in.

They may even take the second pick and move into the future as well, which sets up the preparation for Walker for next year, who is a star.

Overall, they are well placed to get gun young players in Dean, Ison and Walker and get some young talent in before Tasmania arrives.

Seems very specific and thought out, so the intel makes sense. Thanks for sharing.

Not sure I'd agree with taking Sharp as I dont know if he's going to project to a high enough ceiling or what we need on our list atm, but if it turns out to be him then so be it will back the club.

We do need to address the need for speed so that's a necessity with some of the picks.

I guess it's all still speculation at this point as we won't know who West Coast take above us which will probably determine our picks.

A little underwhelmed on that combo of players (would prefer a higher upside player if taking Sharp - I.e. CDT, Robey or Grjl). But the logic of the approach is super solid.

I tend to believe the MRJ x MRJ intel, I don't believe the draft intel. Sounds like his source's personal opinion more than the recruiting team's.

Re: the Aboriginal player for pick 38 — was it Latrelle Pickett or Leon Kickett? Both similar names 😂 Kickett is the the one from WA though.

We won't have picks 3. The campaigner will be pick 8 once we finish bidding on everyone.
technically its still an early pick since we dont have access to the cheat academys

There's something about Sharp I love and am stoked with this "news". Makes sense to bundle the SA boys too. I think Robey lacks footy IQ and may become frustrating to watch. I prefer smart players. There's something special about Sharp. I said it last year about M. Reid and I've got a similar sense about Sharp. The rule changes favour players who "can play" (smart and skilful) even when they lack high end athleticism. Great teams are built around hard work, humbleness and good leadership. You need athleticism but not at the expense of more important things. I think some observers are obsessing too much about "speed and kicking". We need those things obviously but there are so many drafts to come during this build. Problem with this draft is the elite kickers and elite runners have too many genuine drawbacks that make the risk too high (especially in the top 10). I would not take Grlj for example...headless chicken.

I really hope this info is true and thanks for the gossip!

Question for those who don't want Sharp/Cumming...what are your main concerns with these players?

I wouldn't be gambling on high upside players too much in this draft. The question marks are too significant around basically every selection for mine. Not many fully bankable options but the SA boys are up there.

Isn't Blair and co on the record saying that for us to trade out of either picks 3 and 4 we'd need a 'head turning' or 'outstanding' offer? Now we'll settle for a future second? (the same club that forced a future first out of Norf). If that's the case why haven't we just done a hand shake agreement and just do the deal already as apparently we are not interested in either Robey or CDT? That's assuming Essendon even needs to make a deal, if our plans are leaking to our supporters then no doubt they would be aware of them as well, and they can just sit pretty and wait for either CDT or Robey to fall into their hands for nothing.

Last year we were arguably the hardest club to get any intel on. This sounds like an Essendon wet dream to me.

Sounds like it's a future second to move back one spot and still take the same player though. So essentially a free second rounder to help pay for Armstrong or Leys.
