I agree with quite a bit of what you said but Tom Brown at 193cm is currently taller than Taylor, he’s just a different style.

You’re pretty quick to basically write off our entire backline.
Gibcus if remains injury free will be our best defender, no doubt. Balta and Gibcus are our 2 pillars and Balta isn’t going anywhere. He just needs to stay down back and regain confidence.
Trainor will be very very good. It’s easy to forget what he did in his first year before he was moved out of position to the wing.
He needs a few pre seasons for sure but I have no doubt he is our long term grimes replacement and also rebounds and runs up the ground. Seems to be very competitive.
Tom brown still very young but has shown what he can do and after more experience he can slot in to the vlastuin role quite nicely.
Agree with gray, and broad vlastuin not being around forever. However this is why we also have banks, who has really stepped up.

Whilst Taylor would be a handy player to fill a role in a few years, you don’t just select a handy player to fill a role at pick 3 or 4 as a prized selection. You can trade or find players later in drafts for a back pocket player and focus on development. Players selected in the top 5 need to have standout elite traits. Or at least some X factor. I would be selecting CDT, Robey, Sharp, Cumming (arguably Grlj) all ahead of him.

I still think X Taylor will be a good player but looking back on the draft, my gut feel says he was deserving of a pick between 12-20 type player
