So why is it dumb to entertain a trade for someone to come in and pick Robey? Did you mean that we’re dumb because it would mean you wouldn’t get him?
Dumb cos of previous years
Traded pick 3 out last year (doesn’t look too good atm does it?)

Gave us 14 for baker

You guys only have Liam Duggan as a first round pick on your list pre 2022
That’s as grim as it gets

So im saying you’re a massive chance to **** up the trade if you were to entertain trading out pick 2

Doesn’t look bad yet tbh. Jagga hasn’t played a game, Draper, Langford or Tauru would’ve been good but wouldn’t have moved the needle any more than Baker has. Moved 3 for Baker, Bo Allan and Tom Gross. Not hating it just yet considering Bo’s illness this year basically wiped him out of being fit for AFL level.

I’m not one of the eagles fans that hates that. Would’ve liked it for less but in our position you need to pay up for any that’s not a plodder.

Eh probably, depends what we’re given. We just don’t want the club to take CDT. Sharp and Cumming if we can split for Essendon’s picks are the best way for it to shake out for us

Dan Annable and Zeke Uwland I believe have become extremely overrated by so called experts out there.

Annable in particular is actually pretty poor by foot and has shown very little in the way of versatility. He’s a pretty low-damage accumulator with low end speed. If he were to be in the open draft I would doubt teams would be rating his as high. Great character etc etc but as a match winner/high ceiling type of player he’s pretty low end.

Zeke Uwland is a very nice left footed kick, but is very undersized and another one who doesn’t have much in terms of speed. I also think he isn’t the best kick in the draft.
Spot on about Annable.

Just an accumulator that lacks impact per disposal. I'd go further and say he is a horrible kick. At best he ends up a Tom Mitchell type with a bit more size.

Yeah agree with you here for sure
You guys need elite mids asap

But we want a bidding war. There is no guarantee Essendon are going to pay the highest price, it really just depends. Melbourne post Petraca/Oliver trades may end up able to pay more for example. There might even be hail marys from elsewhere.
We want Bombers to take it. Gives us 4 and 5, they have 3 and 6. So we get the two players we want and a little sweetener. If a different club takes it too much risk our preferred player gets gobbled up before our second selection.

Hypothetical question.

If CDT gets to our first pick and it’s true we really want him a take him. Would that raise the chance of splitting 4? Or lower it?

Just grab best available next at 4 or think they got a steal at 3 and then take a gamble on the next pick.

For whatever reason I feel if CDT doesn’t slide to us we will then definitely split one of them. But not the other way around.

Depends on their rankings.

If they have a gap from their 4 or 5th best player to their 7th or 8th rated player they probably wouldn't split.

If we want CDT as best available, then let’s go Robey.

With changes to the interpretation of the ruck rule, throw up’s replacing the centre bounce and 5 on the bench then we could play both Nank and CDT. Plus, given CDT’s Combine results there’s an argument he can play multiple roles.

Robey is the fans favourite and showed enormous upside during Eastern’s run home in 2025.

However, I like Cumming’s given his early season form, he’s tested against men playing senior football in the SANFL, he plays high forward and can run through the midfield, and his Combine results.

Polarises opinions.
wouldn’t mind him, I think you’re getting a solid, reliable inside mid.But think Robey, Cumming and Grlj are better fits for us.
Getting overlooked by a lot of posters unfairly. He’s been the standout junior this past season, and that’s a decent reason why we should definitely select him if we get the chance, but I think WCE will take him.

They should but won’t
They will give in to the media pressure and hype

What are Cumming’s combine results? I can only find a running vertical jump in state pre season testing, 89cm.

Everything you rea d/hear suggests Duursma and CDT for WC.
Sounds like it’s always been Duursma, CDT probably firmed following the combine.
I know Sharp has been the standout junior, and has backed that up with SANFL form BUT you gotta factor in ceiling, and I reckon there’s a few that have him covered. You get excited when you think what Robey might become.

Who?

Essendon are not offering 5&6 for 3 unless we chuck in an f1. 3 was 12 and 14 last year, 8 and 12 for 1 in cadmans year.
Bullshit our F1 is worth more than 5 or 6. Essendon want to trade up, they pay.
I'd trade 3 but want their F1 as part of the deal or tell them to F-off.

Who exactly.

It's amazing how someone can put themselves on YouTube from their parents house and somehow their opinion is now some sort of credible insight?

FFS he's got dolls in room on the shelf.

Sorry, I must have jumped in at the wrong spot. Didn't know we were talking about such a swap.

IMHO there's absolutely no benefit doing such a trade before draft night, if only because West Coast could **** it up for both of us.

And as I said, a hail Mary could well come in to trump the bombers offer. And if it all fizzles out, well no harm no foul, we take 3 and 4.

The way I see it is Duursma is the standout player, with the highest upside in the draft. WC take him at number 1 and take Sharp at Number 2 as a proven leader and prospect that will drive standards and cover for a Reid who can get aggressive at stoppages.

We then have the option draft CDT which I don’t think we would be that keen on, therefore hope Essendon fall over themselves for him and offer pick 5, 21 and F2, Essendon then draft CDT.

PICK 4 is where is gets interesting, do we rate someone like Sullivan Robey or do we think it is more hype. My hope is someone like Melbourne come for him and offer pick 7 and future first for pick 4 and Essendon F2, Melbourne then draft Robey.

At pick 5 I think we draft Xavier Taylor.

At pick 7 we look at drafting Sam Grjl/Cumming

At pick 21 we aim for Dovaston/NHH/O Taylor/Barker/Rodriguez/Emmett

Match F/S Kellaway

We go into 2026 Draft:
Our own 1 (range 1 - 4)
Melbourne 1 (Range 2 - 6)
Our own 2 (range 19 - 25)

I hope out hope of bidding on Walker and Carlton not being able to match. But a fall back being Cochrane, the think walker fits our needs more then Cochrane but both look to be absolute stars. Then go Van Dyke, then match a bid for Armstrong, then match bid for Leys and Daffy.

Summary of 2025 and 2026:
  • X Taylor
  • S Grjl
  • Dovaston/NHH/O Taylor/Barker/Rodriguez/Emmett
  • Kellaway
  • Walker/Cochrane
  • Van Dyke
  • Armstrong
  • Leys
  • Daffy
Our aim for free agency in 2026 would be top level mids and a ruckman.
