All this talk of us trading down but I just can't see it. We will take the two highest talent kids that we can this year I think. Don't think the club risks that. Like others I think WC take Duursma and CDT. I would then go for a combination of Robey, Cumming, Grjl and X Taylor myself. I think in that order. Sharp I don't think has the ceiling of the others. I respect what he's done but look at how many inside mids are being let go for peanuts or pushed aside. The writing is on the wall for the pure inside mids ATM.

But if there is a clear top 3 or 4 why would you trade down???

it takes two to tango… just like with Dusty or Harley or BSmith or Callaghan or JHF… when the big offer comes in the team usually just takes the player at their pick, because the offer only comes for those types of players.

You basically need wildly different opinions from 2 clubs on the drafts top
3-4 players for this to come off and that rarely happens. Sure at 10+ it happens but top 3-4, no. The only precedents include WCE ****ing up their trade collateral for baker, gc/gws points plays or because they have a million picks thanks to their ability to trade out former first round picks for more first round picks (and gws also desperately needed a KPF after spending 10 years drafting mids in 1st round).
reckon there are imposters trying to post and influence usu to trade down frankly

I am thinking out loud

should we get involved in the Curnow trade from CFC to Sydney??

might not happen, of course it might not.

What would CFC want???

We could offer our future first get Swans first and De Kooning compo that CFC will lose in a match, they will need a later first to match for Dean??? we could give CFC more futures, get Gold Coasts picks if not used for Petracca, Gold Coast will need something to match though

just thinking our future first does it help them with walker???

not sure what we would need if we want to decide to match for Tanner Armstrong. don't think Armstrong near Walker in terms of credentials, does this mean we need a later future first in 2026 draft at some point???

curfew to Swans, our future first to CFC and obviously a bit more added here and there

tanner armstrong is 176cm, we will not be needing a top first round draft pick for him, aka 1-5, even if he wins a rising star, we are here to win premierships or should be. might not even need a first rounder and I doubt he is Shai Bolton or even Taj Hotton

I'd be offering one of our firsts this yr and the pick we got for young at the absolute most for both of their picks. I'm hoping Melbourne will get 7 8 from Gold Coast and they'd be the team id prefer to do this deal with (unsure how likely though)
Next yrs draft looks to be much stronger youd be looking at bringing in another pick or 2 rather then trading out of next yrs draft.

our top picks this year are worth more, that is why other teams want to trade up.

in addition our 2025 draftees are closer to our 2024 draftees in terms of build/cycle construction

have you considered other clubs want us to trade down to scuttle our threat to them in the future???

why should we do ourselves in???

all things being equal, 2025 draft picks are worth more to RFC than other clubs because of our 2024 draft intake, ignoring the fact as well we are going through a bit of a build and not a contender right now. some clubs would be playing a little catch up and looking to jump into 2026 for sure, apart from 2025.

people talk about trading down picks. we get a gun of a certain age, even if some supporter does not like the suit, that helps us trade for others and attract others, there is a multiplier effect, especially from a generational aspect. little wonder CDT might want to come to RFC instead of the Bombers despite any training/connection he had with them. CDT probably sees how the stars are alining

All the pro-Robey posters here if Richmond takes CDT at pick 3 and all the talk is we may take Grlj at pick 4.....

I always ask myself the question, if I was an opposition supporter (especially Essendon in this case) what would I want Richmond to do (and especially after we smashed last years draft). The answer is trade down so we don't get two top four talents, or otherwise do a reach to fill a perceived need but who isn't a top four prospect in any of draft previews or power rankings.

Hopefully we play the percentages and don't give them any cause for celebration.

That's where the list management makes there money on their rankings.
If they believe there is a clear 4 then you don't trade back however if there is only 3 (which had been suggested at one stage) and you could get 2 shots in that next rung down instead of one should you do that?

I think the only way a F1 gets thrown at us is if our F2 thrown back the other way.

I am expecting us to take 3 and 4 as is, and within 5 seconds wade through outrageous melts. Then put the cue in the rack until March.

don't think Essendon or Melbourne ae trying to hurt themselves by trying to trade up

In Dusty's draft at least the Swans, if not more, wanted to trade up to get our pick to get whoever

We haven’t even done our rankings yet according to Blair and Rhye. They are going away as a group to discuss and will finalize their rankings by early November.
Don’t see anything happening any time soon, but they’ve both said it’d have to be an extraordinary deal for us to trade down. Otherwise, we take the two early picks we’ve garnered.
I’m very happy with our thinking. As well as both of them saying we will bid on NGA and FS nominees if they top our rankings when we are due to use our picks.

Hi everyone. Just had a call with Blair Hartley. He wants an agreed position reached by posters on whether we trade 3 or 4 and for what and who we are picking in the draft. He needs to know what to do.
Put the feet up Blair. You're done mate.

Yeah I think about the same and about 7 bids, so looking at about 27th best from open pool.

Looking in the realm of Dalton, Byrne, Hetherton, Burton, Kondogiannis types.
Leon Kickett
