They have to offer 5,6 for 1. Even then I don’t think we’ll give up Duursma.

2,13,34 for 5,6,21 I’d do for pick 2. I’m confident they’ll take CDT.

Agreed. If we don’t trade it I hope we take Sharp or Cumming at 2.
They want Duursma first and foremost.
They will need 1 to get him.
1 and 13 for 5 and 6 would be the deal and that’s fair in this draft.

That would get them Duursma and perhaps a Dovaston. And get you guys Cumming and Schubert to go with Sharp at 2.

1. ESS - Duursma
2. WC - Sharp
3. Rich- CDT
4. Rich - Robey
5. WC - Cumming
6. WC- Schubert
13. WC - Dovaston

If they went for our pick three if would be if you kept your two picks. Nothing surer than you overlooking CDT.

They’d probably offer pick 5 and the future first they get off the hawks for Merrett.will help us get Tanner Armstrong next year.

1. WC - Duursma
2. WC - Sharp
3. ESS- CDT
4. Rich - Robey
5. Rich - Cumming
6. ESS- X Taylor

They do but as I said, I don’t even know if 5,6 straight up will be enough for us to trade Duursma.

Essendon going after your pick 3 would be a goldmine for you depending on their target. I reckon they want CDT and that were telling them we want him at 2, even though we may not.

You're telling them you want CDT? What does that even mean?

The Eagles have not shown any interest in CDT ... HE will tell Essendon that. Even I know that the Eagles haven't shown interest, and my contact is only a close contact of the family. You can sure as hell bet that Essendon know.

1 for 5,6 is a ridiculous offer. No club would accept it.

Your mob did the unthinkable last year and traded 3 for 12 and 14.

1 for 5 and 6 is significantly higher than that. Won’t happen.

If they want CDT they will trade with us as they know you will pass on him.
But I’m not sure we trade with them anyway. CDT for mine is too good to pass up.

No doubt, I think I’ve said this before but we are known for this stuff. Not even an interview in person but draft them anyway. There’s a reason Twomey keeps having Duursma-CDT 1-2 in the open draft.

It wouldn’t go down like that. It would be up to Essendon to make an offer.

Yes that was a stupid trade, I’d hope we’d learned from that.

Top available 6/7 will be a very interesting watch.

Why would you not trade 1 for 5 & 6?

WC would have the choice of either
Dursma/CDT at pick 2.
At picks 5 and 6 they’d have 2 of Cumming, Sharp, Robey, X Taylor and anyone else not tied to academies/FS after Richmond’s 2 picks.

I think WC would do that in an instant.

I think he’s saying Essendon wouldn’t do it. We very much want Duursma, will take a monumental offer to part with pick 1.

CDT's stats from the combine are pretty impressive... Could certainly play him as a forward ruck learning from Nank and Lynch.

With proper development, he becomes a unicorn, so if we end up with him and Robey/Grij ill be happy.

Then misconstrued by me.
So what could Essendon do for pick 2?

It would have to be a mouth watering offer for us to part with either of our first two picks. We are only in phase one of the rebuild, that being stockpiling young talent. While we got ahead of the curve last year with the bumper crop of draftees, we still have some holes in the list - transitional speed from deep 50, speed off the wing and goal kicking half forwards that can play midfield. Any call to push back a pick into next years draft, will somewhat depend on how quickly we want to progress the rebuild (there are a myriad of outside factors driving this) and how we judge this highly “compromised” draft.

Different draft, different players, different depth.
I could see 5 and 6 for 1.

it depends on who wants what.

If Essendon think Duursma is close to the next Bont they might do it.

If West Coast get 5 and 6 and want 3 from RFC for CDT , (they will know (certainly live for sure) because good idea who Essendon wants and picks at one and West coast have 2), I could see RFC doing a trade giving away 3 to West Coast for 5 and something and West Coast will have a later pick(s), assuming West Coast want CDT

Luckily, we are fine with our rebuild and will be completed by next year.

2027, all Tassie picks 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and the first selection of each subsequent round, plus 17-year-olds

2028, able to select 17-year-olds + picks 5 and 9 and the first selection in each subsequent round, in addition to their natural draft hand

2029, picks 5 and 9 and the first selection in each subsequent round, in addition to their natural draft hand

For us, 2027-2029, will be more about targeting free agents and trading for top-end talent.

TBH that tassie stuff has worked out well for us timing wise, at that stage we will be in play for trades and FA's... and will have plenty of money to spend

Agreed, I don't think it will impact us as much as other teams. If you look at our last 6 drafts before this happens:

2026: 1x first round, 2x top 30 (likely)
2025: 2x first round, 2x top 30 (likely)
2024: 6x first round, 7x top 30
2023: nil
2022: nil
2021: 2x first round, 5x top 30

All in all, 11x first round selections with an overall 16x picks in the top 30.

You'd be hoping at least the core nucleus of the group has been built with sufficient A grade talent.

As others have said, we need to then bring in role players to fill gaps and free agents who are A or B grade talents

Do we think CDT could play on a wing similar to Cummin (?) from Adelaide?

This what we know.

it looks like some might have hard ons for Duursma and CDT more than others.

Lets just assume Essendon want Duursma. it might be wrong but lets just consider this scenario and lets assume a trade is done.

who gets pick one from West Coast they then pick Duursma. Now West Coast can pick CDT at two.

But if West Coast do not want CDT, what do they do??? could trade pick 2 but they might want other players. RFC might want other players. RFC might not have a hard on for CDT.

if West Coast pick another CDT falls to 3. Assuming CDT is at 3 and RFC does not have a hard on for him like others, and with all the trades going on these days with multiple picks I think RFF could trade 3 but only for 5v and something else and only assuming they do not have a hard on for CDT and the trade partner gets 5 and has other picks.

the point is if certain clubs want to move up to get Duursma and/or CDT they have to have certain picks otherwise they might not be able to. Further more they might have to trade up to get pick 5 to get pick 3 eventually. but anything is possible I guess

the point is even if someone trades up to get 1 others are going to have to have certain picks to trade up to get 2 or 3 I think

lot like to talk about some possibly trading down, is that because they do not want to talk about those wanting to trade up?

Been watching a few Sam Cumming highlights, looks a very compete player. More than a little Cotchin in his attack and attack again attitude. Good speed and lateral movement, decent kick but his ferocity is top class. BOG in his second SANFL game with 21 and 3 goals. Pencil him in at 3 or 4.
I seen some vision in the futures game

Cummings is something we do not have, forward ,mid and solid, few mistakes, like a good team fit to. he would be a good synergy player, very good connection player. theoretically speaking he is a unusual player that is not common

I have no issue whatsoever with Cummings in our first few picks and if bust, I put my hand up, did not see that coming

we could fit Cummings in a number of mixes and setups, he could be a very good enabler
