Dees supporter on X mentioning they had heard Dee’s considering offering 7 and a 2027 future 1st for our pick 4.

In their quest for Robey.

I generally think that when a deal gets put out on X like the above (assuming there’s any truth to it), it’s already been rejected by the other club involved.

This.

I'd also add that draft picks only go up in value as the draft gets closer and teams become more locked in on who they want. Just look at North last year.

If a pick swap does happen I wouldn't be surprised if the trade doesn't happen until the pick is on the clock.

Dees have targeted players before like Oliver and they offloaded Petracca and Oliver for reasons so they will be keen. How keen and is it worth our while?

Richmond needs speed across the midfield, why would Richmond draft Sharp when they have Taranto & Hopper.

Because is 4-5 years time when were contending, he'd be coming into his peak and Taranto and Hopper will be nearly ready to retire?

'Draft for talent, trade for needs'

Good article. I particularly liked this quote, re: his 40 disposal, 3 goal game:

“On the stats sheet it looks pretty, but now that I look back at it and look at the footage – and I’ve spoken to a few clubs and a few people around footy – I don’t think it’s a pretty game to watch back over, in terms of disposal (efficiency) and how I played … It was pretty rough through that game, probably not one of my best displays of disposal.”

Anyone else hearing as I am early this week Eagles are keen for Robey at #2? Certainly there's plenty of whispers they haven't spoken extensively to CDT, which I had assumed was because he was a no-brainer for one of their selections, but maybe it's because he's not on their radar? Would seem a big punt for them to go Duursma/Robey, but by the same token they've got a shortage of goal kicking mids which have proven to be crucial in big finals for a decade now.....and if they want to keep Reid and attract Warner I'm not sure they want to wait 2-3 x years for CDT to establish himself as a gun.

CDT and Sharp/Cumming/Grjl is not a bad result if Eagles do go Robey - could be a greatest blessing in disguise ..who knows?

I’d personally be stoked with CDT, I’ve said it before but we need a ruck. His strength is around the ground work like your Grundy type, and for those who say he’s short for a ruck, he’s still taller than Nank.

If we miss on Robey and then take CDT and one of those you mentioned, we’ve done well.

I went to the game in Hobart, and remember this passage late in the third where LDU was charging out of the centre and Nank was the only player in the midfield trying to exert some pressure. Maybe that stat puts Sharp front and centre at pick 3 or 4, given that our game plan has evolved since Dimma had the keys.
Sharp couldn't catch LDU ... but Grjl would have

West Coast will pick Duursma and CDT.
In the unlikely event they go cold on CDT it will be SA boy Sharp they take.

The Bombers want Duursma and won’t get him so won’t trade up.

The Dees want Robey and could get him from West Coast (2) or us (3) for 7 and GC F1. But I don’t think West Coast or us do that trade and I don’t think Melbourne offer any more.

So Robey will be ours if we want him.

Awesome ... let's take a midfielder caught in a ruckman's body at Pick 3 ... what could possibly go wrong?

Carlton will match an early bid on father-son prospect Harry Dean and is likely to use three live picks, with Next Generation Academy prospect Jack Ison also in its sights, while Richmond holds picks No.3 and 4 in the order and is also likely to use three selections overall.

for those who missed the live show last night, I have some very exciting news to share.

On the back of the successful weekly presser interview with Adem Yze, I will be heading back into the club a few days after the draft to have a chat with National Recruiting Manager Rhy Gieschen.

The purpose of this is I want to delve a bit deeper into the behind the scenes stuff and learn more about how we ended up deciding on players X, Y and Z in the draft, any insights into the way the players were graded, maybe even some insights into the 2024 crop.

But this is also about being able to ask questions from fans too.

so if you have any questions you want me to ask Rhy, let me know and I will start compiling a list.

It is a very exciting opportunity and I'm very thankful to the club for this opportunity.

there are a few more things in the works as well, but more on those later!

If we’re drafting for talent we won't pick Sharp.

I liked when he compared himself to McCluggage, tiger_tough
I would like to give myself a pat on the back from a few weeks ago …. got howled down when I said he reminded me of McCluggage. I can now sleep easy knowing at least the guy himself agrees with me 😜

Mate it's great the club are connecting with fans through home grown podcasts this way. You've done a great job.
