I think people are seriously underestimating how many mids we will need for our rebuild moving forward. Have a look at Brisbane's midfield

Mids
Dunkley, Berry, Neale, Ashcroft, McCluggage, with Marshall and Reville playing wing also.

Fwd/Mids
Raynor, Bailey, Ashcroft

That's 8 players through the midfield with 2 wingers also.

Post Taranto/Hopper/Prestia when we are challenging again we currently have

Mids
Smillie, McCauliffe, (neither of these are currently proven, and then a few unlikely options in Dow and Sonsie)

Fwd/Mid
Lalor, Hotton, Campbell?

Maybe Lalor moves into full time mid but kmac 2.0 might not make it, honestly we need two more mids and at least 1 defensive mid (Sharp) plus Armstrong next year and probably another 1 or 2 to get near Brisbanes numbers. Most importantly we need a balance of different types and you look at Brisbanes names and only 3 of those you would describe as quick players.
Over the next 2 years we will have #2 + #3 plus Kellaway
Then we also have another top 4 pick in 2026 and 2027 plus what ever we get for our 2nd rounders and hit free agency
We will have another 5-6 top end mids by the time the 2027 season starts

* You also mentioned Reville as a wing
We also have players like Ralphsmith / Banks and that new kid from Geelong that also have potential to become that wing in a good side

Jack Ross is better than Reville. Judson Clarke will hopefully be back at some stage too.

Pick 2, Pick 3 + Kellaway this year
Early pick next year plus Armstrong, maybe Daffy/Leys, plus a free agent/trade or two.

We're not far off having the cattle. Just need to get games into them.

Nice work.

You need the balance and you can fill in for speed from HBF etc. But this year is a strange one to predict. A deep pool of different players at our picks. I want a certain combo, but I would also be happy with a whole range of different player pick combos. But yes, we do need more mids to work around who we already have.

Taking into account that from next year we will be able to afford a lot of FAs and/or trades to fill in holes.

I agree with everything here just trying to demonstrate how many A graders we need to put ourselves in the same bracket as Brisbane are now. We have a lot of unproven talent and history suggests a few wont make it either, I think adding another genuine mid (Sharp) who seems to have the lowest floor in the draft is not going to take away from our ability to add other flashier types through there and would seem like prudent drafting.

Feel like Ralphsmith went backwards this year after looking promising last year and I love Banks, hopefully Clarke can get on the park he is another option for a wing or Fwd/Mid with real potential.

Is this a scathing review or can I watch it for an ego boost?
Ha ha it’s a good one I promise.

I loved the tier rankings, thought it added some different perspective on things!!

Ralphsmith was impacted through injury a bit this year and being an outside winger in a bad team effects his output significantly but in a team thats competing for a premiership with premier mids his value will be alot higher and output will improve

Hope so like him as a player but thought he would progress this year, maybe you are right and injury etc.. impacted his form.

Also agree but need to draft a mix of mids, History tells us not all these players will make it we probably need to draft/trade another 7 or 8 mid or Fwd/Mid players next 3 drafts most of which are genuine mids.

Sharp did play back in last year's champs and half forward for Central, but yeah doesn't slot in as nicely on a flank as Robey, Cumming or Grlj. Steele, Mitchell and Devon Robertson also similar types that have been moved on.
Devon Robertson’s disposal is horrendous. Not sure his speed was an issue.

how does Grig slot in anywhere??

is he not unproven?? everyone hope he develops but surely he can only be considered a prospect at this stage

any vision where he has dominated in games??? happy to be told otherwise with samples

Jack Ross is not better than Reville at this stage IMO

we are a fair way off actually I think

New video out today taking a look at PMBangers recent rankings over on the draft board.

I really like how he has placed the players into tiers, I think it gives a greater overview of the talent and adds something extra to think about when toying with the idea of split picks.

I can answer how close the Tier 3ers were to tier 2 pretty easily, for me the tier 2 guys have higher floors and I see as more likely to reach their ceilings than the tier 3 guys, if i was more glass half full then it could've been almost completely merged.
I really found it interesting that PMBangers had some reservations about anyone after his first 18 being AFL level, or words to that effect
The way I had it explained to me by an AFL recruiter was essentially 'Anyone can do a top 50 and claim they're an expert, but how many of those would you take to play 100 games/ be part of a premiership team if your job was on the line?'
So maybe I took it to an extreme (and I'd still say I've been pretty generous) but its inline with how a few clubs are operating now

Cumming is also a goal kicking mid and has elite speed
wouldnt be surprised if he ends up the best player in the draft with comparisons to Rozee
I think he could be a lot better than Rozee and put Rozee in the shade potentially

I am trying to keep a lid on him with my comments honestly

this might seem crazy but one could build one could build a team around Cummings potentially

if Cummings is a flop, my knowledge of footy will take a massive hit. it will be such a hit I will put on my footer,
'I know nothing, had a hard-on for Cummings so I am full of it' if he is a failure

In fact I would get Sharp just to keep Cummings happy

i thought this too, but it definitely said 4.

they may have gotten it mixed up though to be fair.
Hmmm why would we do that for with Tassie compromised draft in 27 ? Swap pick 3 for 7 and future first from Shemons ? Say if Shemons ride up latter quickly and with Tassie compromised draft the future pick could well be mid to late 20’s pick

Banks is a half back...
Agree with everything else you said
... the kids name is Patrick Retschko

Who is Armstrong ?

We should not trade a pick out if Robey is on the table at pick 3. He is an absolute must.

Pick 4 - trade for one of Essendon 5/6 or Melbourne's 7/8 picks and a future first. Otherwise take Grlj.

If West Coast take Robey at pick 2, and CDT is still on the table, I would trade pick 3 for one of Essendon or Melbourne's picks and a future first. Then take Grlj at 4.

I have hear somebody on a footy show compare him to a young Isaac Heeney
Sharp/Robey and Cumming would be my wish

We really need to nail this draft with a couple of top end mids
