Would they consider 2027 1st say pick 3 or 4 this yr then swing F2 in 2026 back? I have no idea if that's a good trade or not.

If we were on the way up, maybe but more than likely that pick will be top 3 pick, so you still be giving up picks 3 & 4 essentially for pick 1. Next year's draft might be better as well.

Picks 3 & 4 this year is really a perfect spot for us, we dont need to do anything.

Yeah maybe, I was thinking 2027 1st assuming we are 3rd last thats still like pick 5 instead with Tasmania's concessions, maybe get a 2nd rounder in next yrs draft to load up again or for tanner bid.

Reckon we will still get Tanner easily next year. Hopefully Leys & Daffy are good enough & can be picked up late as well.

Good chance we get a top 5 pick next year on top of those 3 players.

Yeah thats why i was thinking of 2027 instead of next yrs 1st. Not massively keen on doing it but thought it might be interactive to see what the cost would be.

That's exactly why if I was Carlton, i would leak to the media tonight that if Eagles bid on him at 2, they wouldn't match it.
For a club DESPERATE for a feel good story to take the heat off Voss and the entire club, can you imagine the melt down by their supporters if they didn't match and even worse if he became a really good player? Blues will Vontae Mack him "no matter what"

AFL Phantom Draft 2025 - Top 10 prospects

No.1: Willem Duursma- Gippsland Power/Vic Country

Draft team prediction: West Coast

Position: Midfielder/Defender

Height: 191cm

Duursma is a tall, inside midfielder, who is elite at ground-level - especially for his size.

Can play across half-back and also as a forward - with his versatility likely also appealing for the Eagles.

No.2: Zeke Uwland - Gold Coast Suns Academy/Allies

Draft team prediction: Gold Coast (West Coast bid matched)

Position: Midfield/Defender

Height: 193cm

Brother of Gold Coast defender Bodie, Uwland is a certainty to selected by the Suns once a bid is matched.

One of the best kicks in the draft, Uwland will slot into a midfield role eventually but will likely start on the wing or a flank.

No.3: Cooper Duff-Tytler - Calder Cannons/Vic Metro

Draft team prediction: West Coast

Position: Ruck/Forward

Height: 200cm

The best key forward in the draft, Duff-Tytler showed his potential by kicking three goals for Essendon's VFL team.

He also looks to be a possession-winning ruckman, which makes him a valuable commodity to West Coast, who lost Oscar Allen and lack aa quality ruck.

No.4: Daniel Annable - Brisbane Lions Academy/Allies

Draft team prediction: Brisbane (Richmond bid matched)

Position: Midfielder

Height: 183cm

Annable, who will be selected by the Brisbane once a bid comes in, played eight games for the Lions VFL team, averaging 21 possessions.

He has already displayed leadership qualities at youth level and looks ready to go at AFL level as well.

No.5: Dylan Patterson- Gold Coast Suns Academy/Allies

Draft team prediction: Gold Coast (Richmond bid matched)

Position: Defender/Midfielder

Height: 183cm

A second Suns academy player likely to be selected in the top 10, Patterson is one of the most dynamic players in the draft.

Can provide speed and burst though the midfield, but also from half-back.

No.6: Sullivan Robey - Eastern Ranges/Vic Metro

Draft team prediction: Richmond

Position: Forward/Midfielder

Height: 192cm

Robey was initially seen as a mid-sized forward in the draft, but showed extraordinary capability through the midfield in the Coates League.

He collected 40 possessions and three goals against the Western Jets in a midfield role, and also kicked four goals in the grand final as mainly a forward.

No.7: Dyson Sharp - Central District/South Australia

Draft team prediction: Richmond

Position: Midfielder

Height: 187cm

The big-bodied inside midfielder was named captain of the All Australian under-18 team and played several SANFL games for Central District during the year.

Sharp's size allows him to break tackles and work his way through contested situations - much like Matt Rowell.

No. 8: Xavier Taylor - Eastern Ranges/Vic Metro

Draft team prediction: Essendon

Position: Defender

Height: 191cm

Was selected as best-on-ground in the Coates Talent League grand final.

Taylor is a taller defender but also has significant mobility, burst and pace.

Loves to take the game on.

No.9: Harry Dean - Murray Bushrangers/Vic Country

Draft team prediction: Carlton (Essendon bid matched)

Position: Defender

Height: 193cm

Son of Carlton defender Peter, Harry is also a key back in a similar mould to his father.

He can shut down his opponent, play an intercept role and distributes the ball with quality.

No.10: Sam Grlj - Oakleigh Chargers/Vic Metro

Draft team prediction: Essendon

Position: Midfielder

Height: 182cm

Impressed with performances for Richmond's VFL team this season.

Grlj is a midfielder who loves to take on his opposition and is of the outside variety

Other than the fact that Bont played predominantly midfield in u18's, whereas Robey had been essentially a medium forward until a few half-game cameo's in the last handful of games. Granted, he did show he can link up and find the ball... but still doesn't have the midfield runs on the board that the Bont did.

For the record, I hope we take him. But let's be honest about what he has done to date. There's a lot of hope and hype with Robey!
If all we had to go on was from the time Robey debuted in the U18’s until now, Robey goes #1. Easily. 40 and 3. 28 and 2. 4-goals in a GF with cracked collarbone. Powerful. Clean. Good hands. Can mark overhead. Tough. Great finisher.

I know there’s more data than half a season, but I’m not fearful at all of Robey’s credentials just because it’s 10-weeks and not 20-weeks.

If we miss him because Eagles take him at #2 so be it. If we bypass him at 3 and 4 I believe we will seriously regret it.

I reckon Daffy looks mint
Electric and highly skilled

How are these rankings moving so much with no games being played

One aspect is they morph into mock drafts. People move up and down based on who has the selections and “needs”.

But your point is still very valid.
Yeah I can see that and maybe they're going back and watching the games again.

Putting Grlj over CDT feels like a big shift to make though regardless

Dyl has been high on Grlj all year. Basically since the trial game when he was bog.

I think he’s had him at 3-4 most of the year.

people wanting grjl for his speed but dont want cdt let me remind you:

Cooper Duff-TytlerVIC MCalder Cannons/Woodend-Hesket2.922
Sam GrljVIC MOakleigh Chargers/Old Camberwell2.926

Mate, that's straight line speed. Now let's see both try and weave through traffic, fleet-footed. Grjl would be from back 50 to fwd 50 whilst CDT is trying to navigate past the centre.

In all seriousness, CDT is a talent but new ruck rules not sure how he would go, doesn't have a real high leap and not tall enough, but on the plus side, he has agility and can play as an all-around the ground ruck-mid.
