Big tackles, left foot snap goal, smashes two packs as a lead up option and has what another 6-7 chf like leads for hit ups from his backs and mids? Mids don't play forward like that, they’re usually more Degoey/stringer power or Daicos/ashcroft/Rankine smarts and crumbing, but he can play in the Degoey way too at ground level.

He’s so versatile and is one of the youngest in the class. It continues to be a no brainer pick 3 for me.

Yeah he’s looking it, but is anyone else seeing something and looking to get in front of us at 2?

Do any of the Robey fans have any doubts after seeing his reported combine times?

It's not the type of effort that would see him become undraftable and there are probably some valid reasons for the performance given the injury he carried through the finals, but surely there are some doubts starting to creep in.

Not really, who gives a shit if he's 0.020 seconds slower off a standing start over 20m or his height off a standing vertical jump.

This is the USA obsession with what they do and the media eat it up.

If he can play football, that trumps a 0.020 second advantage. The combine can't measure game nous, body work, reading of the play, finals impact etc. You don't need that 0.020 seconds agility if you have superior body work or anticipation.

Who do you currently want at 2 if you hold? Still Sharp despite the test dodging? I mean no one was picking him for his athleticism so shouldn't matter.

Blair alluded to in his interview today that there are early conversations going on in splitting one of our picks. Also emphasising that the draft is heavily compromised multiple time during the conversation.

Yep. Thought he spoke well as usual, absolute gun loading up last year and sitting only at the pointy end this year in a weak draft. Three academy boys could be 1-2-3 on a lot of boards, mine included so I agree about it being compromised, pick 3 and 4 gets you the 6th and 7th best kids.

My goodness North Melbourne are dumb.

So true .... for comparison Sam Flanders ran nearly the same times as Robey at the 2019 combine

Correct. Especially the vic kids I think they’ll try their luck with a better than 50% chance of staying home.

Looking at the path of GCS and GWS there’s no way I’d want to be there in the first 5 years.

Happens every year. Will Brodie slide from 1 to 9 and I reckon he had a better draft year from memory

I think only extraordinarily poor or extraordinarily good results might influence planned selections. Robey’s weren’t great but for a 190cm+ mid weren’t poor either. So if he was in our plans then I’d imagine he’d still be there.

Regardless, is Sharp regarded as being any ‘quicker’, as he seems a likely top-4?

And to the naked eye Robey appears pretty fast. There’s ‘straight line quick’, then there’s ’footy quick’.
