Am I blind or does it not mention this player he idolised?
Think it's Cripps based on the follow up comments. But yeah it's doesn't actually say

Honestly don't believe we can go wrong with any 2 of CDT Robey Cumming Grlj Sharp X.Taylor, which puts us in a very strong position to shop our picks for possible deals or hold them and just take the 2 we feel are best available

I'd be happy with 2 of Sharp, Robey and Grlj.

This guy has no idea and has ripped a few cones before going on air but his draft simulator is elite. This is a scenario he run where WC picked Duursma first and then bidded on players back to back. Includes a bombers trade up to get CDT with WC also!

Damn, that sims great

Couldn't agree more.
Looks a 13-25 draft pick range. You don't waste a top 5 pick on this. For a prized top 5 pick, you would expect elite level X factor and A+ range.

Don't get me wrong. He could still turn out to be a great player, but surely not a top 5 pick potential. Robey/CDT/Sharp and even Cumming excite me more. There are plenty of half back flankers. If a half back flanker/back pocket player is going in the top 5, you would expect to be extremely impressed from a highlights package.

Taylor is much much more than just a half back flanker/ back pocket and would absolutely justify a top 5 pick.

He’s more a Josh Weddle type than anything else, and a 2022 re-draft would see Weddle a top 5 pick; and 2022 is also a vastly stronger draft that 2025.

We need to get out of the mindset that we draft a position. We draft a player. One who is good in the air, aggressive on the ground, with good agility and speed. He has attributes that would allow him to play multiple positions and multiple roles at AFL level.

He’s shown a glimpse of midfield potential, although the strength of Eastern was their midfield so didn’t get much an expansive run.

Not ahead of Duursma, CDT or Robey in the open pool. But he’d be close to the next highest talent ahead of Cumming and Sharp in my view.

It's weird, everyone's going on about Floss replacement when we need Dusty (or Cotchin) replacement.

With pick 3 and 4, we should be picking an A-grade onball talent. Back flankers, even if they are good in the air, can be targeted with late first round or early second round picks, not early 1st-rounders.

I prefer Cumming over Grill (if it comes to that), but definitely prefer Grill over this kid.

By all means put him in the equation if we split pick 4, but not at pick 4.

I saw a bloke that competes hard, breaks lines and can get a spoil in but isnt a good user and isnt a strong mark. for a top 5 third tall defender id want him to be elite. like others have said he looks more like a late first/early second rounder in most drafts.

controversial call maybe but i reckon cambell gray is similar and has more strings to his bow.

This isn't necessarily directed at you, but a lot of posters are banging on about needing A grade midfielders.

Are you all forgetting that we drafted 3 of them last year (potentially A graders) but haven't really had a chance to see how they look? Lalor got a bit of exposure but was stop start, Hotton got 7 games at the end of the year and Smillie got none at all. A wise move would be to wait and give those boys some exposure and then assess our needs.

The other side of the coin is that the top end A graders will either be gone by our picks or we don't have access to them. All of Duursma, CDT, Uwland, Patterson, Annabelle and Dean could be gone, leaving us with picks 7 & 8 in what is widely claimed as a weaker draft. Players like Sharp and Cumming might not be seen by our recruiters as being those players that fill a need over others that actually do fill a need and are the best players for those needs.

you know I seen that article about Cumming from Wentworth. technically Cumming is not far off being Victorian in terms of distance. Certainly regarding footy spheres and spheres of influence the link to Victoria would be very strong

maybe we are looking at this the wrong way.

West Coast could rightly be iffy about CDT. maybe we help them out like no other because we have better picks.

maybe we trade pick 4 to West Coast for pick 2 and throw in pick 38 which might help for their WA players or throw in future 3rds or something. this is loose extras, not sure what we are desperate to keep, others will know more, so I will leave that open, people in the know will get my point as they know more

we pick CDT and Cumming, shut the gate on Essendon and Melbourne. might get a Gold Coast pick in a trade involving picks, futures etc.

I still have CDT and Cummings in my combinations, so I am happy.

West Coast, already have Duursma from 1 is the talk, could pick Sharp or Robey with pick 4 or do a trade, they still have options. If we do not bid on players, West Coast have more options to with pick 4 as QLD clubs looking at points etc and West Coast did them a favour already by not bidding at 2 or one theoretically so they can trade with West Coast with pick swaps before they trigger what they do with 4 giving them adequate compo. the other thing is trades with CFC regarding picks might suit West Coast who knows. at least one online reckons West Coast rates Dean and his old man was a bona fide gun, so the genes could drop not far from the apple tree
