or wc just picks the 2 players they actually want, leaving us the 2 players we actually want.you know I seen that article about Cumming from Wentworth. technically Cumming is not far off being Victorian in terms of distance
maybe we are looking at this the wrong way.
West could rightly be iffy about CDT. maybe we help them out like no other because we have better picks.
maybe we trade pick 4 to West for pick 2 and throw in pick 38 which might help for their WA players or throw in future 3rds or something. this is loose extras, not sure what we are desperate to keep, others will know more
we pick CDT and Cumming, shut the gate on Essendon and Melbourne. might get a Gold Coast pick in a trade involving picks.
I still have CDT and Cummings in my combinations, so I am happy.
West Coast could pick Sharp or Robey or do a trade, they still have options. If we do not bid on players, West Coast have more options to with pick 4 as QLD clubs looking at points etc and West Coast did them a favour already by not bidding at 2 or one theoretically so they can trade with West Coast with pick swaps before they trigger what they do with 4 giving them adequate compo
yes but pick 4 allows them compo from Carlton, Gold Coast, Brisbane and others and compo to us to for the work done 1to4or wc just picks the 2 players they actually want, leaving us the 2 players we actually want.
this whole scenario hinges on wc desperately wanting pick 38.
If we fast foward 4 years and No Hopper / TarantoRobey and Cumming would be a very exciting combo
I was against it for a while because they and Lalor all have similar traits and play pretty similar roles. But as Dyl Alexander pointed out… wouldn’t be a bad thing having 3 Isaac Heeneys in a side

Sounds like Sam Cumming to meWe need to get out of the mindset that we draft a position. We draft a player. One who is good in the air, aggressive on the ground, with good agility and speed. He has attributes that would allow him to play multiple positions and multiple roles at AFL level.
west coast do not need 38, they want something we need to put out something, somewhere, sometime,.When did that happen? (West Coast wanting pick 38?)
Nah he will be loved for his toughness at the ball and the man as well as kicking goals when we need themIf you think Grlj will be a whipping boy wait until Cumming keeps passing it to grass. Small Taranto.
I think the idea is that there are no Dusty’s or Cotch’s available in this draft so you take a Floss rather than a slightly lesser midfielderIt's weird, everyone's going on about Floss replacement when we need Dusty (or Cotchin) replacement.
With pick 3 and 4, we should be picking an A-grade onball talent. Back flankers, even if they are good in the air, can be targeted with late first round or early second round picks, not early 1st-rounders.
I prefer Cumming over Grill (if it comes to that), but definitely prefer Grill over this kid.
By all means put him in the equation if we split pick 4, but not at pick 4.
Did you miss the entire season on here where the inside mids that can't hit a target have copped a battering? Every chance to be the whipping boy. He's a nice prospect and does most things well but he's an absolute butcher when not kicking for goal.Nah he will be loved for his toughness at the ball and the man as well as kicking goals when we need them
Outside running half backs and wingers are the players that are the whipping boys and would hate another tambling
Looks like you and i are on a seesaw with cumming/Grlj and thats ok but must inform you i am 86kgs
lets see how we go
This would be a good get#1 - Duursma ( eagles)
#2 - Uwland ( GC )
#3 - CDT ( eagles )
#4 - Patterson ( GC )
#5 - Robey ( RICHMOND )
#6 - Dean ( Carlton )
#7 - Cumming ( RICHMOND )
Or we just take him at #4 ourselves
even better
This isn't necessarily directed at you, but a lot of posters are banging on about needing A grade midfielders.
Are you all forgetting that we drafted 3 of them last year (potentially A graders) but haven't really had a chance to see how they look? Lalor got a bit of exposure but was stop start, Hotton got 7 games at the end of the year and Smillie got none at all. A wise move would be to wait and give those boys some exposure and then assess our needs.
The other side of the coin is that the top end A graders will either be gone by our picks or we don't have access to them. All of Duursma, CDT, Uwland, Patterson, Annabelle and Dean could be gone, leaving us with picks 7 & 8 in what is widely claimed as a weaker draft. Players like Sharp and Cumming might not be seen by our recruiters as being those players that fill a need over others that actually do fill a need and are the best players for those needs.
this is probably supported by rumours(others will know the validity) of clubs looking to go up for CDT and Cumming. Not offended at the reply.
All I can say is I see a genuine top 4 (or call it top 5 if we include Duursma). I don't bother about the players linked to other clubs as they are effectively out of the equation. By all means bid on them if it helps eradicate picks further down the line but otherwise they may as well be invisible to me.
I see Robey / Sharp / CDT and Cumming (in no order) as the 4 that we should be targeting, and they do look pretty good (yes, CDT is not an "A grade midfielder" but he looks way better than Taylor. I actually like the look of Grill and I probably put him next on the list, but picking him will be at the expense of someone else and I think that's a mistake.
Happy to be proven wrong but he looks like a pick 8-15 not pick 4 and as I have said previously, I think a player like him can be got in the future when we have "worse" first round picks. If we split pick 4 and can't get Grill, will be happy to get him. But of course the process of splitting gets us another pick somewhere to make it worthwhile.
Lalor (prior to his injury) had higher rated games higher than Reid's. I think it may only have been Langford who ended up with a higher rated game by any first draftee in 2025 which came in maybe the last round. What information? His stats were top class.
Yes i think apart from you everybody missed that.Did you miss the entire season on here where the inside mids that can't hit a target have copped a battering? Every chance to be the whipping boy. He's a nice prospect and does most things well but he's an absolute butcher when not kicking for goal.

See Hopper was one of guests.
Taranto, Hopper & Prestia copped it all year and it wasn't because they're soft...Yes i think apart from you everybody missed that.
Most Butchers dont go top 10 in the draft and he is not as mad as you are making out.
But outside flankers that have issue's about how they play the game and mentally tured before crossing the line could be a bigger issue. Think Tambling 'like' issue's with 100k tiger members yelling soft 'c**k'

That's where I'm at pretty much but 1 has to be Robey then 1 of the other 2.I'd be happy with 2 of Sharp, Robey and Grlj.

I'll have to dig up another to find him hit a target by foot.
As I said has some good attributes, can't kick for shit.
Please, no Cumming. I can’t go through a few more years of people writing “cumdog” again; it does my head in.
