Do we just go both Sharp and Robey?? I know there's concerns around our pace, but they will be the best two available and both seem impossible to pass up (I'm expecting CDT to go at 2).

It’s the combo we should be seriously considering with question marks over Smillie. We should also be sending out this messaging to push WC to take Sharp at 2 rather than trade back. It’s in our interests to trade back with Essendon if CDT is at 3 and we don’t want him. We could easily get our hands on their pick 21 in that situation.

Robey, Taylor/Grlj/Cumming and a potential chance of getting a player like Greeves, Barker or NHH.

I’ll spew if we overlook Robey for Taylor and Grlj, has Bontempelli v Billing’s written all over it.

Would you be comfortable with him going pick 4?
no way.

He has talent, could develop, should develop, could be a star, but IMO limited observation, I am no gun expert, but not pick 4 for me against this basket

top 10 could be justified IMO, but 4 is too much of a reach against his peers in this year for me

he is not a leaper like Tauru for starters, may not be able to be very good as forward. Too many questions for a pick 4, question marks whether he could really develop into a midfield. He might of course he can, don't ever put a weight on anyone but not with pick 4 for mine

he is a Richmond supporter, might be a mad one. We could always trade for him later possibly down the track even after he develops depending on the circumstances so getting our selections right this year very important. Lot of Richmond supporters playing for other clubs that are young we could attract if we get our list a lot better. Never close the door, and I do not have anywhere near any say, but looking for afar, pick 4 is too high

Phillipou himself reckons we have shown the most interest in him.
i do not mind him, but there are a few handy types listed in the teens per the mock.

It is one of the reasons I do not think this is a useless draft even if it may not be massively deep

i think the first round is reasonably good

The biggest difference between Jackson's draft year and CDT is that Jackson was genuinely dominating ruck contests (something like 40 odd hit outs a game), whilst CDT isn't as dominant, averaging about 20 odd hit outs (can't remember the exact numbers off the top of my head, but I remember someone saying that Jackson was averaging roughly double CDT's ruck numbers).
for mine Jackson is a better physical specimen in terms of sounder football player from a conventional role player perspective. Jackson more robust, easy to read in terms of how he can impact in a ruck/tall/key role

CDT, is a little unusual. I am not saying he is near Buddy Franklin, but he is different for a typical tall/ruck guy with his speed and ground ball. Highly unusual and hard to get a read how effective he could be. So how CDT actually can be used in the AFL over time could be a little different? He is not a typical ruckman, who is?? and really he is a little experimental.

CDT could slide, He may not but he could. He will not slide far, but he could slide a little. If CDT gets to Essendon, they will probably pick him, but then how do they play him?? will it suit what they have? we will know before the end of the month what happens

I have no idea what clubs are thinking with CDT, but no doubt he is a talent and he gets the ball, so thats the first question mark ticked. He is not useless using it so there is a place for him for sure, what happens and how clubs value this situation is quite interesting. Without trying to sound like captain obvious I cannot see CDT drifting outside the top ten, and it does not look like he will get outside top 5, ignoring academies/father sons etc..

to assess CDT properly probably have to watch hours of his footy, not just highlights to get a better feel and see how he is developing and improving cause he was playing basketball to in terms of exposure. and after watching hours and hours of him try and stay impartial to make a better assessment

Eagles leaning towards CDT at 1 accordingly to Cleary on MMM run home I was told.

Imagine Duursma gets to us at 3..

That's a ballsy move.

Obviously the big fellas take longer to develop so he immediately puts added pressure on CDT to perform in a poor side.

As long as WC take Duursma & CDT at their initial picks I'm happy with the remaining lot that's left on the table and we can be almost certain they won't be the best two players that come out of this years draft crop.

Let's them have the #1 pick for PR purposes but allows Essendon to pay way overs for 2 so they can get Duursma.

If Essendons F1 is involved this would be a big win for the Eagles.

CDT shared the ruck role with two other ruckmen in most games he played this year.

Feel like the hype surrounding him would be a lot higher if he spent the whole year playing solely in the ruck and been able to rack up stats better than most mids.

I think with CDT you would not play a conventional ruck with him.

in that sense Simms would be a good partner theoretically.

CDT if it works is more than a ruck, so his best partner would be another hybrid to enhance the teams effectiveness.

you would not necessarily want CDT stuck in the ruck. Having CDT as a ruck rover would be too much like they did with Jackson at Freo sometimes possibly.

CDT in certain matchups on certain parts of the field could be highly effective, it is just a question of finding them and then at some stage he will help in the ruck so who else should ruck in that scenario if it works?? I suppose West Coast have the time to figure it out

Theoretically CDT's best ruck partner is another CDT but there is not other, lol

We simply can not afford to stuff about. Robey plus 1 of Sharp/Cummings.
What’s the urgency? I’m sure the club does not think it’s stuffing around. Richmond will not contend for a few more years and will pick for sustained long term success. I don’t mind your selections but there is no need for panick. A player like CDT may be seen as more of a necessity for the longer term. Players like Sharp are available in most drafts where as a CDT or a Robey are much harder to find.
