Pretty clear we won't be recruiting weedy mids so my guess 2 likely targets with our 2 first rounders will be Sharp and Onley so players like fred wont get a look in .

Finally I believe we are not going to recruit the norm and will try a completely different makeup and give up trying to do what every other campaigner is doing and basically trying to fluke a premiership .
Sharp & Onley? I don’t think so. Both big bulls and we’ve already recruited those types in Lalor & Smillie. Possibly Sharp. I think Richmond will target types with break away pace and skill, Rodriguez definitely is that type. A long way to go before we have to narrow the field. Greeves also impresses.

Lachy Dovaston will enter the season as one of the more highly rated small forward prospects in this draft class. Quick, hardworking, and with plenty of tricks at his disposal, he's able to create scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates through incisive moments with the ball or disruptive defensive pressure.

No thanks
No left side.

Just hope we don't have a repeat of last year's mistake and pick a kid that can't get a touch in a match sim.
If we manage to get a couple more number one picks over the next few years surely one of them will be able to have an impact in a match sim.
If you can't touch it against the wooden spooners then what hope do you have.

Sam Swadling is one of the guys in the 2025 draft pool that I feel isn't getting enough attention. He definitely needs to work on his composure with ball in hand and ability to execute skills under pressure, but his ability to find the footy inside and outside the contest is elite. His athleticism allows him to impact in the air and play taller than his 187cm height, giving him the versatility to play as a medium/third tall at either end when he's not in the midfield.

There are some issues to overcome, but his talent level could see him jump up the rankings in 2025.

For this performance Kelly was named best on ground for WA by their coaching staff. He was particularly impressive in the opening quarter, booting a goal, finding the footy and applying strong tackling pressure. Blake is a strong and tough inside mid with a nose for the footy at stoppage which he showed at times in this game when given the opportunity to play on ball, but for a lot of the game he was stationed in the forward line which allowed him to show his versatility.

Some names to keep an eye on.

Oliver Greeves
Riley Onley
Willem Duursma
Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves
Fred Rodriguez
Toby Whan
I like Fred Rodriguez has a nice ring to it. But Toby whan (kenobi)…… hard to go past?!

No Sharp?
That was lesser talked about names to watch through 2025 other than Sharp.
Most would know of Sharp as an early #1 contender.
Didnt put Emmett in either as I see him possibly going early too.

I like the look of this guy a lot

the play by play match video was less encouraging (obviously) but he's def the type we need. there's just something about duursmas and being softcocks though.

I think soft**** is harsh … they’re diffidently a bit more outside than inside. I agree he’s the type we need
It's the difference between being an effective outside AFL player and being Corey Ellis or Patrick Naish. Could rack up touches at will in the 2's but when they had to put their head over it at AFL level they backed right off. I'd love to see a bit of contested stuff from him in these clips. You can't be totally outside imo.

From what I have heard we are only looking at mids that have size that are inside outside .

I agree we need outside pace but not interested in pure outsiders

A look at elite prospect Fred Rodriguez putting in a strong performance as a bottom ager in the WAFL Colts competition. While he wasn't able to find quite as much space in this game as he typically does, he was damaging with the opportunities he had and put in a real shift at stoppage, extracting the footy himself or laying a strong tackle.

Can Fred make an early move in 2025 and challenge for pick 1 favouritism?

The first half of the futures game offered Sam Grlj an opportunity to show his exciting dash and willingness to break lines with buccaneering runs out of defense. Moved up onto a wing in the second half he wasn't able to find quite as much space but still provided a regular outlet for his teammates.

In 2024 big boy bottom-ager Ah-Mu regularly monstered kids a year older than him. A year later, it seems unlikely that anyone will be capable of matching his size and strength in the Talent League or Champs series. He possesses solid skills for such a big man and is capable of taking clean contested grabs.
