I think what you see is what you get. He's a little bit slight of frame but not so small as to suggest that he can't play as a pure mid at AFL level. He's got the stoppage craft, the work rate, seems to enjoy getting stuck in, so I see no reason why not. Not every kid that's drafted as a mid ends up playing there at AFL level but I reckon you start there and see how he tracks.

It'll be interesting to see where he plays for SA at the Champs.
I could see him as a half back flanker. Seems to read the play well, fairly strong over head but can run and penetrate more importantly

Wont concern us ;) as we have two top 5 picks and the top 10-12 are very good. That'll do just nicely. Plus Louis Kellaway
I’m not so sure the quality of the player we need is there. We need pace, spread and class. Don’t need to even think about taking greaves or sharp imo. A Jagga Smith would be perfect, closest to him I can see at the moment is Grlj or Wright. Will be interesting to see how they go in the champs.

I think Grjl is a great fit for us, just hope he continues his development as a midfielder and carves it up in the National Champions. Justifying a top 5 pick.

Don’t see the Jagga Smith comparison to be honest.

Richmond could also trade one of these top 5 picks and next years first for Harley Reid too… I mean who knows. Harley will probably stay at eagles or go to Geelong I feel like there is no in between

You want speed, and run Grlj is our man
You want dual-sided, power and speed. Rodriguez is our man

Anyway, like every year, players will rise come the Champs, and there will be more options.

He ain't going to Geelong. What draft capitol do they have? Media nuffs playing this of late, not thinking that you need to trade for him and that means top 5 pick(s) required.

Richmond and Essendon have the draft capitol. Doubt he goes to Essendon though as they are in no mans land and terrible culture but who knows how they present the sell to him.

I would have no issue walking away from this years draft with
Grlj - Fred & Kellaway all on Rookie wages and saving the cash for free agents in coming years

Your man Van Dyk for next year seemed to go well against Kellaway tonight, 1st game of the year 👍

If WC end up with picks 1 & 2 this year & we end up with 3 & 4 , I would be offering them pick 3 for their 1& 2 this year & then offering them our next two first rounders from 2026 & 2027. We leave Harley alone & go to the draft with 1,2& 4 this year & let them pick who they want at 3. Go for free agents in 26 & 27 & forget about early draft picks & trade in what we need. Rebuild done

Dick vs Coch for next years best SA kid. Best

For arguments sake they get pick 3 this year, let’s say pick 3 next year & pick 5 in 2027. We get 1 & 2 this year. Good deal all round I reckon.

Let's just assume WCE finish bottom of the ladder for each of these seasons for arguments sake.

2025: 1 + 2
2026: 1
2027: 1

vs

2025: 3 (might become 4 if we or WCE decide to bid on Uwland).
2026: 1 + 3 (could be pushed back because of F/S or Academy picks as well)
2027: 1 + 5 (which might become anything between 5 and 10 based on what Tassie gets)

If Greaves is available at our pick 3/4 we'll take him. Best mid available.

I personally think have two top first round picks are better than one player but that’s me. So I don’t really want him to be honest.
I think this will be dragged out but WCE definitely needs to play the old club is bigger than a player.

someone educate me how do we keep our top picks and get kellaway without losing those picks. needs are mids with speed and size. rick would be good also.

Picks only get absorbed after a bid is made. As good as Kellaway has been and as seemingly thin this draft is at the top, a bid won’t come before both our first round picks are used.

Will need a pick in a later round but that’s easier to get, could look to trade a future third or fourth pick for a later round pick this year; and noting the number of NGA and F/S picks this year, a few teams may take that approach.

It’s also possible we could trade a current player for a later pick if a trade was requested.

Worst case scenario is that we go into a points deficit next year and kick the points matching down the road 12 months.

thanks but to someone like me who is highly intelligent i really don’t understand this system

A strong game from Jevan, one of the few we saw from him in the new season before going down with a broken arm. He showed here that he's more than just a special athlete, able to exert a strong influence at stoppage and impacting the scoring for his team with setup disposals and a goal of his own. Unfortunately the broadcast missed the first 8 minutes of this game.
