And when we do we play non wingmans there.

Boak/wines ect.
Yep. We love to cut up the opposition with the speed and precision kicking of Boak and Wines. Teams just cant defend against it...

I am being told our kicking inside 50 is ****ing garbage and conversion of entry to goal is even worse.

FWIW, if this was a premiership club, Lord and Finlayson won't be on the AFL list. And I think that says enough about where the club is at.

Saying that, Charlie McKinnon in this year's draft is perhaps my favourite tall forward prospect so far. Adding him would be a great result
You’re not delisting Lord this year, that’s just not going to happen

Agree re Finlayson

If there's any interest on Lord you give him away for a packet of chips even, he simply won't make it at AFL level with our forward line development coaches

I would think clubs like Melbourne would have some level of interest in Lord. They need a key forward and could offer him security and more game time.

Richmond board want him at 3.
Interesting

I think Richmond will get Willem Duursma at pick 2 for their Defensive stocks and then have a choice of either

Ollie Greeves - Eastern Ranges, mid (provide overlap and impact on the spread)
Sam Grlj - Oakleigh Chargers, mid (Has elite pace & kills teams with his burst from contest and creativity) and maybe
Josh Lindsay - Geelong Falcons, half-back (most clinical ball-user in the draft class)

This is before Dyson Sharp (as these players are higher in the Power rankings)

this is because of the draft haul they had last year

I think WC will get Duursma at pick 2 after Oscar Allen leaves as a RFA and WC gets Pick 2 as compo.

I think WC Draft strategy could be something like this

Pick 1 Cooper Duff-Tytler - ruck/forward (because of some Nic Nat vibe)

The compo pick, maybe 2 traded out for 2 first round picks (maybe from Essendon) so they can then get

a) One of the players mentioned in my early post who Richmond doesn't pick - maybe a midfielder to help Harley
b) Fred Rodriguez - South Fremantle, clearance-winning midfielder

With their 2nd first round currently pick 13 - Cody Curtin - Claremont, key forward / key defender.

Their other option with splitting the pick
Is to trade one of them to the cows for Curtin's brother Daniel (but that could stop them getting Cody Curtin)

Tell ya what, I've said it for a while now that you'll start to see the depth in this draft. Yes there's no star talents like Harley Reid, JHF, Nick Daicos, Sheezel, Darcy, Thilthorpe likes but there's some good value especially for clubs with picks in 20-40 range. 5 SA prospects named in the top 20 and 2 prominent names to miss out are Sam Cumming and Jevan Phillipou. Cody Curtin being another that I would seriously consider at our first pick if he's there.

Then there's Oudshoorn-Bennier, Tom Burton, Charlie McKinnon, Taj Murray, Riley Onley, Rory Wright, Liam Hetherton, Jack Cook to name a few that have shown a bit but the issue with this layer is consistency, which can be developed.

Then you have the ones that missed out last year and in the MSD like Burmeister, Papal, McCarroll etc plus some mature agers like Cooper Craig-Peters, Charlie McCartin.

And then Port have some ties to Rome Burgoyne and Louis Montgomery again, along with Ben Francou this (ruling out Ollie) and maybe Gill Wakelin (although unlikely).

The first drop off in quality is around pick 7 then pick 15 then through about 45 is very even.

I'm not counting out this draft just yet, I think you could have many good gets from the 2nd round onwards and it's quite even right from the start. I would say it's looking like another draft where if you take 5 picks between 2nd round and 3rd round, you're likely to nail at least 2 which is historically the same percentage as well I believe.

Harley Barker at our first pick in the 20s would be my go at this stage.

Wingman Harley Baker (AFL Academy) would be considered but in his game against Vic Metro his 13 possessions, 11 were uncontested. We would have to look at his other games this year to see how he is with the skill of going in and getting the ball (to go with his skill of using the ball once he has it)

Maybe if he is still there at our pick, we could look at Jevan Phillipou (183cm - explosive - Mid / Fwd) but the cows would be looking at him as well in the hope of maybe getting his brother back from the Saints.

Rome could easily be a top 10 player in this draft in 3 years 🤔

Port Adelaide better be looking at SA talent for once and stop being sucked into Vic bias only talent
if we are looking at SA talent (besides Harley Baker) in this draft we should look at

Matthew Leray 189cm Midfielder / Fwd

Aidan Schubert 198cm Ruck / Fwd

Sam Ainsworth 198cm Ruck

Harley Baker 187cm Wing

Jevan Phillipou 183cm Midfielder / Fwd

I'm not as confident as you are. I think its full of role players without many players that will be able to tear a game open. There will obviously be good players available and you hope you can develop some, but usually when the draft media are calling it a poor draft, it usually ends up that way.

You've summed up my post, but in a better way haha

Like I said, the star quality isn't there, so yes the players able to tear a game open aren't there.

Plenty of good players who can find roles at AFL level. It's a draft where you wouldn't want 1st rounders and would rather than few 2nd-3rd picks

My 3rd option would be Cody Curtin if he slips through.

But agree, at this stage Barker, Phillipou and Curtin are my 3 targets
