Cal reporting again that Suns have traded their F3 (one of which is tied to Bombers and the other being their own) for 48 from Crows and 49 from Port.

I just hope we have gotten a bit creative with this deal instead of simply doing a pick swap. Would like us to give up our F2 and 49 for F2 from Suns (tied to Demons) and F3 (tied to Suns).

Crows will end up with that F3 that is tied to Bombers. I'd take the punt on us finishing above Melbourne next year.

Premiership Pie Mason Cox will land at Freo as a SSP rookie signing. Delisted Crow Harry Schoenberg will do the same at West Coast. Both skipped nominating for the draft so can sign through SSP.

I do not think we'll get Liam Hetherton too, seems like a pointless move.

Would also be shocked if we had more than 1 pick across both ND and RD (Watkins not included)
With the assumption of Watkins & Stephenson coming on board, i believe we only have 1 list spot available to take someone from the draft?
Can you confirm?

Why would the Crows end up with the Essendon pick when the prevailing thought is that Crows will finish well ahead of us and we are likely to finish near Essendon without the Great Man.

We should hang on to 49 for a bit, it's going to gather value as teams use up their multitude of late picks for points (which we of course will be denied next year in the AFL's over-correction)

Gold Coast's indicative 2026 picks are 40 and 49, so I assume we get 49 for 49 and the crows get 40 for 48 if it's a 1:1 swap.

ESPN Phantom Draft (read it and weep Addy23 :p ; we also overlook Kondogiannis who goes in the 50s)

44. Port Adelaide - Matt LeRay
Central Districts/South Australia
MID, 188cm

Port enters the draft last of all teams. With a host of club-tied talents on the horizon they've been doing work away from the 2025 crop, but would stick and pick at this point if LeRay was on the board. The utility can play off a wing, halfback and through the middle with good ball skills and aerial ability.

45. Brisbane - Blake Oudshoorn-Bennier
North Adelaide/South Australia
MID, 181cm

Oudshoorn-Bennier has some special traits in his power and ball use. He's quick from hand to foot and executes skills under pressure impressively, and could end up higher than this given some clubs rate him inside the top 30.

46. Western Bulldogs - Zane Puecker
Woodville-West Torrens/South Australia
FWD, 179cm

Puecker is one of the better small forwards in the draft, creative and damaging with every touch. He's quick, smart and could play senior football next year with his football IQ.

That doesn't have anything to do with the trades though

I can see no reason why Gold Coast would give Adelaide the pick that is likely to be 10 spots plus better in a better draft. Particularly when we gave them such a good deal last year. Time for a little payback. Give us the Essendon pick.

The crows will expect the earlier future pick because they're giving more points than us.

I think Addy23 is on the money that Port might be doing a wider swap, because of the future 3rd disparity compared to what we are giving them.

How many picks will realistically be taken between ports 3rd rounder and 4th ?

They could trade out 49 and still take someone

Cal Twomey said yesterday Port's second pick could come back into the late 40s if the other clubs tap out as expected.

How are people feeling about the Houston trade 12 months on?
Essentially it is going to work out to be

Lukosius, Richards, Berry & Whitlock for Houston & Dyson Sharp

I'm not mad at the outcome at all.
Would have been an extremely good outcome if we didn't capitulate this season

I understand why Carlton should move their picks but they sound like a bunch of terrible deals.

Carlton fans are going to be melting memberships when they realise they traded Curnow for a bunch of picks in the 20’s used to get players they always had access to.

I think the more honest test starts in 2026 with the Houston trade. 1st year unsettled new team different system. Hoping it's more so the same this year though

I have no Intel on it btw was just me saying that we should look to do a wider swap. Hope I'm right haha

Yep no worries, I think that idea just made sense given a 1:1 swap of third round picks could disadvantage us by a possible 9+ picks next year for a 1 pick difference this year.

Houston was good for us because we played him in his proper role.
He’ll die on the arse at Collingwood unless they use him as we did.
Would love to have him next year so we could move Rozee forward.
