What's our chances of taking one of these guys tomorrow? Given that we just elected to pass on all of them, given the chance.

Makes no sense to me
Oliver Greeves
Liam Hetherton
Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves
Leon Kickett
Taj Murray
Riley Onley
Blake Oudshoorn-Bennier
Fred Rodriguez

Out of these players, I wouldn't mind getting in order of preference BOB, Kickett, NHH, Oliver Greeves, Riley Onley, Fred Rodriguez, Taj Murray, Liam Hetherton.

Let's not get Watkins if we're only intending on rookie listing him just to keep Butters and then de-list him.

With all the players we had out last year Watkins still couldn’t get a game.
You wouldn’t expect us to have as bad run again this year so for me it’s pointless in keeping him.

He wasn't AFL listed how was he supposed to get a game? we didn't pick him in the msd, he's fine as a contracted SANFL player that's his wheelhouse.

How can Gold Coast still have picks 48 and 49 after matching 4 x first round bids? Surely that's an error.

We should be at 60 (the others don't matter)

Gold Coast give away picks 7 and 8 for Petracca and still get 4 x first round picks.

I love how it’s this sort of sh¡t that happens pretty much every year that gets waved through with minimal grumbling because ‘academies are good for the future health of the game!’,

But it’ll be us getting Cochrane and Pilot after copping sweet f-ck all by way of startup concessions, priority picks, father-sons, free agency compo, and WADA compo — not to mention being gutted throughout the 80’s and 90’s supplying the code with all-time greats in exchange for a half-eaten yiros — that’ll tear the entire superstructure down.

🤪

They said on the trade show tonight that no team has asked about him or requested any medical.
Twomey was 100% sure he will go to the crows tomorrow.
No point in asking for a medical when he is going to reject it.

If Crows are willing to pay 800K after doing one, you can assume his body is pretty sound.

Making contact could make the Crows panic and make Ah Chee put a front-ended short-term contract on his head for the PSD which would be less desirable for a club like Port

+ Veterans list removal right in time for ebert, Westhoff, boak and Gray after watching Hawthorn and Geelong utiltise it for the previous decade

On the Port website: Geoff Parker spoke about the draft and commented by saying: “We definitely came into this draft with a list of players to pick so there was never a thought that we weren’t going to pick,” said Parker as he left the draft room on Thursday night.

“We had a list of players and when you come in at pick 58, you need a long list. So by the time it got to our pick, they’d disappeared. We had the three mid-season picks so we brought in some talent there. So we look at that as we’ve already got three new players on our list really and if we were going to get another one tonight, we would have, but unfortunately it didn’t work that way.

“It's been a focus (to trade into next year’s draft) and it’s been spoken about since trade period. Our focus was to try and get some capital in next year’s draft. Obviously, Dougie Cochrane was approved by the AFL (to join Port Adelaide’s Next Generation Academy) last week.

“There is a lot of footy to be played. We know (Cochrane) is talented, (but) whether he’s the number one, we don’t know yet. The football the boys play next year will decide that.”

Watkins was not on our AFL list last year. He was only a Magpies listed player

Yep I forgot that but still believe we should keep it that way and look at rookie listing someone else.

If they didn't think anyone left was worth drafting, why would you do that? Take one new rookie, probably a local not much point relocating an interstater if you don't think they're up to it. Rookie Oudshoorn-Bennier and Watkins, look at the train-ons for the last spot. Although Stephenson would be firming for that last spot if he shows dedication to making a comeback.

Tbrh, I am very sceptical on Stephenson. Not about his quality but the fact that he could be someone that seems to fall in and out of love with the game.

If it were totally up to me, I'd draft BOB, NHH and Watkins tomorrow. NHH is a very similar mould to Stephenson, my only concern with him is injuries but otherwise, kid imo would've been a top 20 prospect.

As Andy said it’s only a one year contract as a rookie on less money instead of a two year contract on bigger money on the main list.
So there is benefits passing and picking up someone tomorrow.
I guess the question is does the club believe there’s some future in rookie listing Watkins or possibly look at someone else.

As Parker said, they'll let the new coaching group look at the players and they might have different ideas about positions. They're going to keep a spot open for an SSP selection with train ons, so I expect only one new rookie tomorrow.

Had a look at NHH highlights, he would fill the same role as Stephenson.

We drafted josh lai as a train-on player out of nowhere and his form in the sanfl especially the 2nd half of the year was incredible.

no point guaranteeing players 50 plus range in a shit draft more years and money then harrison ramm and josh lai

I’m still bitter Lai didn’t debut this year. He was on track until he suffered an injury.🤬

Assume you mean one new rookie in addition to Watkins but yes agree
