lol I don’t even think the cornes boys play footballNext 3 years:
2025 Gill Wakelin (also FS eligible for St Kilda)
Jake Bishop
Darcy Thurstans
Ben Francou
Charlie Wilson
Tom Wilson
2026 Nate Tredrea
Ethan Kingsley
Raphael Cornes
2027 Sonny Cornes
Louis Salopek
Tevita Rodan
Percy Burgoyne (also FS eligible for Hawthorn)
Will the draft value changes have any affect on clubs selecting the academy kids? If they have more than a couple will they be able to afford them all? As an example, how would it have affected the points Brisbane required in getting Ashcroft and Marshall?
Zemes Pilot is NGA, Rodan father-son.is Zemes and Rodan Acadmeny?
Gill Wakelin is already training with the Saints instead of us. Darryl himself said so. So it would be no surprise to me if he ended up there but at the moment he doesn't even look like a top 30 pick so it's bit of a moot point.Next 3 years:

What will be interesting, and Parker alluded to this in his presser after draft, is whether we consider Burgoyne and Montgomery as F/S next year. They would obviously need to have a good season for us to consider them but wouldn't rule it out.
Of that 2025 list I think it's only Gill and Francou playing?
2026 only Kingsley (who is also part of the Swans Academy so not sure if we'll get him)
2027 Salopek and Rodan are state representatives for Vic Metro so should be talented lads.
I remember someone saying that Rodan is also a member of Essendons NGA...
Saints have flown him over a fair few times and Darryl said that Gill was more of a saints fan than a Port fan. Make what you will of that but it's at least a 50/50 call, if not in Saints' favour. He never spoke on that segment about him training with us for whatever reason.Wakelin has been training with us. It’s been said so before and there’s been pics of him at training.
I highly doubt he’s doing a lot of training with saints in melb while he’s living , schooling , playing at least 2 (3 levels if he’s playing with the Sa nationals side) in Adelaide.
I didn't realise F/S son accessibility in the draft continued into perpetuity. This makes a strong case for not selecting the boys and seeing how they progress with another year playing seniors.Gill Wakelin is already training with the Saints instead of us. Think your overplaying the Saints angle. Yes Darryl did mention he was a saints fan due to his dad and Grandfather playing there. But Darryl said the whole family go to most Port home games. And he has trained with us, I would think we are the front runners if we want him. It was on SEN on 21st Aug (I posted the podcast on the F/S thread but the segment has since been removed).
All they’ve done is decrease the value of late nothing picks by a few points , so teams will just grab another cheap nothing pick to add to the bundle to match.
I'm not overplaying it at all, some here think he's definitely coming to us and all I'm doing is playing devil's advocate. It's not as clear cut as some think it isThink your overplaying the Saints angle. Yes Darryl did mention he was a saints fan due to his dad and Grandfather playing there. Well as it stands only Francou can train with the SANFL side. The other two are yet to be signed by usIf there is poor depth in the 2025 draft I'd be looking at drafting Rome, Louie & Oliver Francou as late to rookie picks.
Like what Parker mentioned in his interview right after the draft.
For now these 3 mentioned above will be in our SANFL side training with the AFL team everyday. It lets us keep an in house eye on them regarding professionalism, attitude and performance etc.
This experience will definitely accelerate their growth/skills and hopefully their performance in the SANFL.
Use our earlier pick currently in the 30s on KPD ± KPF

Well, might as well look at the draft even though we don't have a first rounder yet. Coates League starts this weekend.
We still need players who make smart decisions and can kick properly. Jack Cook, son of former CD/NA/Crow Tim Cook has started the season with a bang. Part of the SA u18 Academy, he's a 180cm midfielder who makes smart decisions and is one of the cleanest users of the ball in this years field. Should be available with our second rounder at this point in time. There's a lot of Karl Amon in the way he plays.
In a more immediate need, if we were to open a spot for the MSD, thoughts on Harrison Ramm?
We need to cut hard and move fast because when Tassie come in it’s all she wrote.Need a tall defender 199+, small lockdown defender and another defensive mid.
What is the draft crop like this year compared to 2026? Should Port look to trade out 2026 1st rounder to get into this year’s draft? Or vice-versa?
Club needs a reset and stockpile on talent for a year or so.
