Pointless for us.Marsh AFL Academy coach Tarkyn Lockyer gives his thoughts on five other top draft prospects this year ….
Zeke Uwland (Midfielder, Gold Coast Suns Academy)
“His national champs in particular for the Allies last year, he showed great composure, really good balance between his inside and outside play and certainly by foot he’s so damaging when he gets the ball in his hands. The main thing for him is he’s had a really good bottom-age year and he actually put together a really strong pre-season up there with the Suns. So it’s just a bit unfortunate he’s battling this (back injury) at the moment but we should see him later on in the year.”
Willem Duursma (Midfielder, Gippsland Power)
“Will’s a little bit different (to his siblings) in his own right. He’s a very versatile player. Most of his junior stuff through the talent pathway he’s played back recently. But he’s also played a little bit of midfield and he played forward last weekend for Gippsland as well. So he’s a really well-balanced player, really good decision maker and I’m sure he’s one of those players that the recruiters will be keeping a pretty close eye on throughout the year.”
Dyson Sharp (Midfielder, Central District)
“He’s a player who’s had an incredible talent pathway through his under-16 championships and bottom-age season last year. He’s played senior football at Central District in SANFL. He’s someone who’s so competitive, a really good, clean inside midfielder. And he’s a fantastic kid as well. He’s such a lovely personality. He didn’t actually come in for our first camp because he was away on a family holiday. So we’re looking forward to having him integrate into the group.”
Cody Curtin (Key Forward/Key Defender, Claremont)
“When we first selected the Academy squad last year, he was playing as a key back. So what he’s been able to do is show versatility to be able to play both ends. He’s a really competitive player in the air and he’s been getting plenty of shots on goal over the past couple of weeks. So, he’s doing some good stuff.”
Kalani White (Key Defender, Gold Coast Suns Academy and Melbourne father-son prospect)
“He’s another one of those really athletic talls that’s got the ability to play at both ends. There will be a lot of interest from the Suns and also from Melbourne, given the ties that he’s got to play for those clubs. But he’s just focused at the moment on doing the best that he can and he may have a decision to make later on in the year if he’s lucky enough. But he’s certainly trending in the right direction.”

Ben Francou and Gil Wakelin to do a Clayton Oliver and have a bolter of a season in the second half and climb up to 1st round contentions.Pointless for us.
Our first pick is in the second round.
Top 5 is out of the question this year.
If we had good Draft capital, Curtin and Sharp would be my picks.
But Port gave that away in the last Trade period, so....................![]()

Looks like Dyson Sharp is dropping down the rankings, could be because he's playing half forward at league level and hasnt had the best start but could be learning some new craft. According to some he's slipped out of top 10. Will be an interesting watch rest of the season
Even considering the relatively weaker SANFL U18s competition, this was one of the best junior performance I've seen. Dougie slotted 6 majors of his own, set up a number of others for his teammates, took contested marks, laid tough bumps and tackles... what can't this kid do? There were several moments that I had to rewind to check that I did actually see what I thought I saw.
Dream would be to use first round pick from Saints (currently pick 12) on Sharp from Bergman trade. We need Sharp to "keep doing what he is doing" while NGAs and F/S's from other clubs push past him in terms of ranking.
Still imo the best clearance prospect in the draft. Swift handball, great overhead, strong in 1v1. I think he'll develop better forward craft as he plays for Central there now.Not so complimentary stuff on sharp, re skills and speed, seems to be dropping quickly. Was the flavour of the month a while ago.
Hard to say so far out tbh, but I expect a couple of SA talents to be around the mark. The compromised draft makes it harder because I reckon pick 34 could move a bitWhat decent players are available around pick 34?
Dyson Sharp. What decent players are available around pick 34?
if Chad Warner was able to overcome his deficiencies in his speed and kicking penetration; according to his draft profile on rookie me central, then Sharp can improve his speed and areas of deficiencies and replace Wines.Still imo the best clearance prospect in the draft. Swift handball, great overhead, strong in 1v1. I think he'll develop better forward craft as he plays for Central there now.
Speed is okay, not great or bad. No versatility. Kicking is fine when he has space but set shot is average.
I think the reason he was no.1 before was because he put up video game numbers against u18s.
Still for me top 10, but could be that he slips because he's playing forward where he's still learning. But still back to have solid games against seniors if he goes into midfield
Yeah just caught up with it, looked at home again in midfield.Dyson Sharp 27 possessions in 3 quarters last night fo Centrals . Off the final quarter.
Of interest in that game Dusty Geister kicking 3.3 with 18 disposals.
Pretty sure he’s Paul Geister’s son. A very good forward for centrals in the SANFL and 1 game for Port.
That is an incredibly good Centrals unit.Yeah just caught up with it, looked at home again in midfield.
P.S Ben Francou highest disposal getting for North Adelaide with 19 disposals, a goal and 6 clearances. Good outing in a side that was well beaten
Oudshoorn-Bennier also had his first game for the season, watch out for this kid. Think he could surprise a few.
Having checked Paul Geister was actually full back for Centrals. Not sure where I got forward from. Also a couple of games at North Melbourne.Dyson Sharp 27 possessions in 3 quarters last night fo Centrals . Off the final quarter.

Yeah, it isThat is an incredibly good Centrals unit.
O-Bennier just turned 18.Yeah just caught up with it, looked at home again in midfield.

Yep!O-Bennier just turned 18.
Is a Port supporter, as he stated in a Rookie Me Central interview late last year
Seems committed to improving all aspects of his game.
Will watch him with interest this year.
A few decent SA lads this year to consider - Sharp the standout, but 4 or 5 others sound like they could be decent mid Draft picks.
Marsh is son of former Crows (only 48 games so not F/S eligible) player Ben I believe.Yeah, it is
Makes Francou's performance very honourable in the loss. He's had a strong start to the season and putting himself in draft contention
In the other game, Jack Cook was typically industrious again with 37 disposals and only 12 tackles!
Mitchell Marsh, will be keeping an eye on this kid. Gives me some Jye Amiss vibes
