Latrelle Sumner-Pickett’s stocks are only rising especially after kicking four goals in his league debut.
I wonder if clubs will look to pounce on him early in the second round?
Dougie Cochrane late selection.People are forgetting how many indigenous players actually get picked up in the draft and going on recent history Latrelle is 3-4 round or Rookie.

This goes to show how widely open the rankings are in this year's draft. The amazing thing is, despite the clueless media calling it a bad draft, the only part of the draft that is average is the first rounder compared to other years. The names I mentioned above, I'd take most of them at our 1st pick (24). While Cal doesn't have anyone but Pickett is in "next 15" group. Not doubting the guru, he's awesome at what he does but normally there is a general consensus for each prospect. I dont think we'll get more than 60 picks in the draft next year and we could virtually be having 30 (expect this pick to slide back), 40 and 50 (with the latter two picks coming in).
If it ends up that way, my first thoughts are that we should go with BOB, Pickett and Peucker with McKinnon in the rookie draft. I'll probably change this a million times before draft night depending on how our trade period goes.
My point more so being you could find role players still in this draft. In any draft, players that you take after pick 30 need to have a good development team around them and it applies to the draft too. Its a draft for role players, that's just my view. This draft doesn’t have the talls or as many ‘sure things’ as other drafts. And I think the ceiling is lower.
Quite a number of players like Avery Thomas and Tom Burton who could both could become ok contributors or nothing rather than being elite. And there is a lot of raw talent. Curtain, Murray, Thomas and plenty of others, will need patient and slow development if they’re to come on.

Fair - not sure there will be too many elite players from this pool but some solid citizens perhaps. My point more so being you could find role players still in this draft. I am a fan, not as elite obviously, but there's a bit of Zak Butters in the way he moves around the ground and attacks contest.Fair - not sure there will be too many elite players from this pool but some solid citizens perhaps.
What’s your take on Burton?
Thought he moved really well in the midfield. But doesn’t seem to be widely rated.
The strength and attraction of the old Port Adelaide have all but vanished under the administration of the most smug, back slapping, circle jerked w*nkers that ever was. That's disappointing, but what can you do? The wheel is turning. It's up to us to strengthen our squad through all means. We became complacent and it's our turn to reverse that.
I saw an interview with Newcastle United (EPL) manager Eddie Howe who is very strong on squad unity and said we only want players who want to be here. That's always been the Port Adelaide way too, us against the world. Carry knows that and how to exploit that mentality.
They both look x-factor types Latrelle a bit taller & could possibly play more positions.Leon Kickett, if it isn't Latrelle Pickett we should seriously be looking at Kickett from WAFL. Has some Bobby Hill like traits imo.
Doubt the club is looking at him. But Kickett too, like Pickett, is a 19 year old.
Has been invited to the AFL draft combine, Freo and Richmond are quite interested in him. We should be doing our due diligence too. Rioli's departure must not be understated
I think that the Saints will get him to make it harder for his brother to leave when his contract is next up for discussionBarker I still see as the lucky get.
Once this nga issue is sorted out I won’t be surprised if Port trade in for Javen if he gets past the Saints.
That and he’s actually pretty good.I think that the Saints will get him to make it harder for his brother to leave when his contract is next up for discussion
interesting that Cody Curtin isn't on either list (currently going under the radarThis goes to show how widely open the rankings are in this year's draft. (before West Coast & the cows - seeing how West Coast might want him to replace Oscar Allen and the cows might want him, so his brother won't leave in a few years' time)Bryon Jnr could get drafted if Port ever considers him as a Maggies top-up player first.
Get him into the SANFL system first and see if he has it.
Cody Curtin has had a fall that's quite similar to Tyler Welsh last year. Some deficiencies in his game.interesting that Cody Curtin isn't on either list (currently going under the radar)
Cody Curtin a 200cm KPP (Plays forward / Back) ... Can kick bags of 5 - 6 goals (last year he kicked 6 and over the week end he kicked 5) ...
would be worth trying to get him with one of our picks(before West Coast & the cows - seeing how West Coast might want him to replace Oscar Allen and the cows might want him, so his brother won't leave in a few years' time)
Would hate to get another Robbie Gray at pick 55 again heyJust forfeit & come back in 2026.
Can't see us picking up anything of worth in this years draft pool.
Monster who beats up on kids, but does he have another level against men?Cody Curtin has had a fall that's quite similar to Tyler Welsh last year. Some deficiencies in his game.
It’s odd though. It’s a weak draft for talls. Schubert, Ludoowyke and CDT are the only three not tied to a club in the top 30 or so.Cody Curtin has had a fall that's quite similar to Tyler Welsh last year. Some deficiencies in his game.
BOB with 23 and 2 goals in Reserves final tooJeavan Phillipou, Matt Leray good finals today, happy if we could get those two.
Precisely the question, aside from his size, does he actually have the craft and the tank to play AFL? Not sureMonster who beats up on kids, but does he have another level against men?
I think he also lacks the forward craft a bit, I see him more as a KPD. But yeah concerns regarding 1v1 against men. It’s odd though. It’s a weak draft for talls. Schubert, Ludoowyke and CDT are the only three not tied to a club in the top 30 or so.
Curtain is slow and lacks fitness but seems like that could easily be fixed at AFL level.
Bit like Murray who lacks size, that should be solved at AFL level.
Both seem to be in that 30-60 range. Just thought they would push up higher.
With Lord would you think the lack of fitness and pace is our fault as a club or is he just a lazy arse or a bit of both.I think he also lacks the forward craft a bit, I see him more as a KPD. But yeah concerns regarding 1v1 against men.
It's not easy to fix fitness at AFL level either. Lord is a good example, been in the system 5 years, was a pick around the same range Curtin is expected to go. But he always seems slow and lacks fitness despite being in the system for 5 years now.
